Soros is an US citizen, and as such, is subject to the federal estate tax. Now, he's probably got billions hidden offshore, and has done everything he can, via trusts, etc, to minimize his estate tax liability, but when you've got that much $$..there still a lot of dough subject to the estate tax.
So, why should a guy his age marry a much younger woman?..He doesn't have to do it..they could just remain together. She's well taken care of regardless.
See, there's this basic provision in he estate tax law..the unlimited spousal deduction....you can leave everything..tens of billions, to your spouse, and there is not ONE DOLLAR of tax due..until the spouse then dies..

I’m having fun reading headlines without my glasses today. At first look this one read: “Political pigs expected at George Soros wedding”
Those expected include World Bank president Jim Yong Kim and Toomas Hendrik Ilves, president of Estonia; Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, president of Liberia; and Edi Rama, prime minister of Albania.
Also there will be Paul Tudor Jones II and Rep. Nancy Pelosi. Festivities started Friday night with a dinner at Le Bernardin, followed by cocktails with a few hundred guests at MoMA.
