Why Obama May Lose the Shutdown Battle. (We will win this)
Real ClearPolitics ^ | 09/21/2013 | Rich Galen

President Barack Obama, fresh from having his lunch money taken from him by Russia's Vladimir Putin, is flailing about trying to find someone he can shift the public's attention to. He has chosen House Speaker John Boehner (R-Oh) as the person and the upcoming end of the U.S. government's fiscal year on September 30 as his verbal weapon. I think that is the wrong fight against the wrong guy.

OK ... a few gummint workers are told they will be let go one week before Christmas.

A flurry of TV spots will ensue and the presstitutes will hammer Republicans for being so evil.

After a week or so ... it's time for Thanksgiving vacation in Hawaii.

THAT'S when we call out OUR fifth column and deny re-entry CONUS.

Obama can't hope to duplicate the chessboard as it was in 1995-96. I said after the shutdown in 1996 that a skilled White House, aggressively on message is an unstoppable political force in America.

He left something out. A White House with 95% of the media carrying it's water and demonizing the leader of the opposition is unstoppable. The media destroyed Newt with a 24/7 onslaught of hate filled slime and lies, not Slick Willie.

Harry Reid wants no part of a bill avoiding a government shut down that includes de-funding ObamaCare. He doesn't want his vulnerable Democratic Senators to have to vote on it.

Well, I hope Mitch McConnell grows a spine and a set of gonads to call out Reid's procedural bag of tricks...

I have NO DOUBT McCain if given the opportunity would stand with Reid..

If McConnell doesn’t force them to he deserves to be primaried and lose. Won’t forgive him. No excuse.

We can’t win the vote in the Senate but at least make Harry have a real vote on Obamacare- not a ‘filled amendment tree, amendment to strike’ farce.

I think I see how this ends: Ubama and the rats will agree to “delay” implementation for everybody else the way they already delayed it for big corporations and other special interests. See, this way, everybody “wins”. The Republicans get to pat themselves on the back and claim they brought (the lame duck, so who cares?) Ubama to his knees, and the rats get off the hook from having to defend Mengelecare leading up to the 2014 elections (that is, the next year won’t be daily headlines full of Mengelecare implementation nightmares). I swear, this is the outcome both sides want.

The last few lines from the article nicely summarize the theme:

Obama can't hope to duplicate the chessboard as it was in 1995-96. I said after the shutdown in 1996 that a skilled White House, aggressively on message is an unstoppable political force in America.

Obama's White House is not skilled (as he proved to the world over the past three weeks), and it has no message to stick to at all.

And finally he doesn't have Newt Gingrich, who was Bill Clinton's strongest weapon.

I agree with all of this. But will we avoid the Gingrich fate. I personally doubt it. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. I say go for it. Shut 'em down.

“The Media” has never been more vulnerable.

They dont have a monopoly on the message, and the messenger is a moron

All it takes is the resolve in the House to not pass a CR that funds the communist nationalization of the United States medical industry.

If you think just because the communists controlled all three branches for two years back in 2009 and passed this nonsense under cover of darkness we will have to live with it for ever, you are crazy.

Unfortunately, Mitch McConnell says he is opposed to a filibuster. Can he be pressured to change his mind on that?

They’ll make up stories if little old ladies eating cat food, soldiers in Afghanistan without food or ammo.....blind kids being thrown on streets. By the time their finished we’ll be saying Speaker Pelosi again. I think Obamacare is such a wreck ...hell let them implement it. When it collapses we can blame it on the dims. Obama is on the ropes he’s praying for a government shut down.

I was talking about the situation when it was Clinton and Newt.

In this battle, although we have nearly all of the conventional media cheer leading for Obozo and actively trying to destroy our standard bearers, we have a much better chance.

IMO, our biggest weakness is the GOPe (Mitch McConnell et al) sabotaging us and selling us out. We are fighting a war on two fronts. We need folks willing to put their political careers on the line and go for all the marbles. Most of these guys, you throw down the gauntlet and they pee their pants.

My rep Brett Guthrie is IMO a “moderate” who constantly calls himself a conservative. Good at giving “no answer” answers.

Dont need the Senate for anything

House must pass a CR that includes commiecare.

Everytime that degenrate cook Reid sends to the House a reconciled CR that has commiecare in it, it can be voted down again.

Tea Party GOP can play this game all the way to election day. Pass seperate bills to keep certain parts open , or go on vacation for all we care.

There are checks and balances, and the foreigner in the WH and his minions in Congress cannot fund commie care unless the House votes for it.

We can blame all we like. The collapse will bring on single payer government run HC. They are destroying private sector insurance, there will be no insurance structure to fall back on.

I think that ObamaCare has already caused so much damage, that we are almost at the tipping point now where there is no going back.

In any case, a united GOP could win this, but there are a lot of traitors in the ranks and leadership. A traitor is worse than the enemy.

The political class's carrers are definitely on the line.

Even the imbeciles who voted for Obama are up in arms and 90% of the populace has absolutely no idea that the appratus is setting up software that crosschecks your income with the IRS against your medical, insurance, employment and credit records records to determine if you are "eligible" for a subsidy and are "compliant", and that this system is being run by domestic communists and low grade morons who haven't been put through background checks.

All hell is going to break loose, and the people will be coming for their Representatives, and they will be pissed.

Otoh, how many hundreds of thousands of people have had their insurance dropped entirely or had their hours reduced from 40 to 30 because of obamacare? For the work reductions, that is a 75% decrease in income because of the democrats.

Its a powerful fact.

Obamacare is such a wreck ...hell let them implement it. When it collapses we can blame it on the dims. Obama is on the ropes

That behemoth bill has grown from a ridiculous almost 3,000 pages to over 20,000 (and can someone explain why a law, once passed, can b e added to and changed and added to ad nauseam with no say so?) -

This bill now stands, physically, over 7' tall. Do you really think it's all about health care?

It's about total and forever control of your every move in life - they will have access to you bank accounts - and can deduct fines and whatever else they want...for example. And they WILL get rid of cash, you can count on, and force us to go to plastic only, your paycheck will go on automatic deposit (and they will have control) - total control of your every cent - And that isn't even scratching the surface.

This is not a bill about health care. It's a bill to totally take over this country. If it gets "implemented", there is no going back. There will be no putting that toothpaste back in the tube. We won't have the freedoms to do it.

WE must be aware of this - this bill is about totalitarianism. You want to live - and have your kids, grandkids and great grandkids live under what will be worse than the 80 years of Communism in Russia before the country fights it's way back?

Implementing this bill would be like being a little bit pregnant. This thing need to be aborted BEFORE it's implemented. We MSUT understand this.

It is only a 25% decrease in income, although it might be felt as larger since overtime will disappear.

It is still a powerful loss.

You’re making my point for me. To get those enforcements in would be poluticky suicidal. They’d have to rewrite the law and that won’t be possible if we own the house and maybe the senate. If the dims tried to seize paychecks....or force folks to open checking accounts when they already owe back taxes or child support and would be seized.Would be an Atlas shrugged moment. Why do you think there’s so many currency exchanges?

Two big differences between today and 1995-96:

1. Bill Clinton was Newt Gingrich's b!tch back then. That's why he signed most of the 1994 Contract With America into law. Signing those things into law basically insulated Clinton from anything that Americans were all p!ssed off about.

2. Obama's one and only signature piece of legislation is a pile of steaming crap that nobody likes (even labor unions. for crying out loud) and cannot be defended.
