https://twitter.com/jstraziuso Jason Straziuso ‏@jstraziuso 1h I'm 300 meters from mall when blast went off. Eery silence afterward. One short gunfire burst. View conversation Jason Straziuso ‏@jstraziuso 1h That last big blast far larger than any explosion I'm last 30 hours. No idea what caused it. Expand Jason Straziuso ‏@jstraziuso 1h Huge explosion at kenya mall just now. Expand Jason Straziuso ‏@jstraziuso 1h More gunfire, sounds like possibly outside #westgatemall. Helos still circling.

I object to the use of the term executed being used to cover cold blooded murder.

There was a children’s cooking event at the mall so it was filled with parents and their kids. There was a TV crew from Master Chef Junior filming it.

This thing is still going on!! Compare this with our SWAT teams storming someone's house to arrest them on drug trafficking or something else where no one died! Here, the bad guys are armed (and dangerous!) and all the uniformed ones do is wait outside.

I don’t know. Some places I’ve been, my greatest concern was being taken hostage, and placed in greater danger by the local cowboys who had a reputation for ending standoffs quickly. It didn’t matter if hostages were killed in the process. Their emphasis was on ending it, and going home early. “Kill ‘em all! Let God sort ‘em out!”

How long did that Philippines situation last? Has it been resolved?

Not yet complete, but note the second quote about the Filpino President's actions!

Philippine leader vows Zamboanga battle 'over soon'- YahooNews

ZAMBOANGA, Philippines (AFP) - Philippine President Benigno Aquino on Sunday flew out of a major southern city where troops are fighting Muslim rebels, saying he expects the deadly battles to be over soon."I believe this will wind down within the day," he said before boarding a jet that flew him out of Zamboanga, where thousands of elite troops have been fighting Moro National Liberation Front(MNLF) gunmen for two weeks. ...

... Aquino flew to the area on September 13 to take direct command of operations, vowing not to leave until the gunmen are pushed back out of the city.Military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Ramon Zagala said the armed forces backed their commander-in-chief Aquino's latest pronouncement."The armed forces support the president's statement that this is almost over," Zagala told AFP."We will work hard to finish this soonest." He said about 4,500 soldiers remained in the city to clear it of guerrillas after two weeks of deadly street battles that left hundreds dead or injured.More than 10,000 houses were set on fire and 111,000 civilian residents fled the street battles, according to the civil defence office in Manila. ...
