It's deja vu again: A Wisconsin woman visiting the 9/11 Memorial yesterday was arrested after a security guard screening her bag spotted a gun in the purse.
Ursula Jerry, 41, had a .380-caliber semi-automatic Kel-Tec gun in her purse. The Wall Street Journal reports, "The weapon had two rounds in the magazine-none were in the chamber, the official said." Jerry also told cops, "I travel with this from home on Amtrak to New York City. I dont mean harm to anyone."
Jerry has a permit for the gun in Wisconsin, but not NYC. Responsible gun owners would know that New York City is really horrible and requires a NYC gun permit, which means out-of-towners are out of luck.
The Post is critical, "Jerry isnt the first hick from the sticks to treat the WTC and the city in general site like an Old West saloon." A woman from Tennessee was arrested in 2011 for trying to check her gun at the 9/11 Memorial while folks from Georgia and Indiana have tried to bring guns to the Empire State Building. And a man from North Carolina was arrested for leaving his gun in a hotel lobby chair, because he didn't want to bring it to the 9/11 Memorial.
It’s so much safer to prosecute good people than bad people.
Isn’t that punishable by a mandatory 3 1/2 years in prison? What party is Bloomberg from again?
“Hick from Wisconsin?”
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Can someone please explain to me why in the hell anyone in the right mind would want to go to the police state that is NYC?
Those “hicks from the sticks” feed the world. Wonder how long thugs from the city could make it without those “hicks” producing their food.
OMG!! A citizen exercised their constitutional rights at the 911 Memorial!
It behooves gun owners to check the laws outside their own states to avoid these kind of instances. When we moved from FL to NV I checked the laws on our route and purposely avoided states where my “freedom” might have been placed in harms way. Despite the federal transport laws. It only takes one uninformed deputy/highway patrol person to make your life living hell even if you are compliant with the transport laws. Not to mention the arsenal I may have had in the trunk and the hassle to try to have them given back. Of course I could have just said I was taking them to a “gun buy back” event somewhere. LOL!
“Those hicks from the sticks feed the world. Wonder how long thugs from the city could make it without those hicks producing their food.”
Yeah, no Lox, Bagels, and Cream Cheese would bring NYC to a grinding halt!
If NYC and the airlines had gun regulations like the ones in the sticks, the terrorists would have been dead before they got to ". . . Akbar!" and the WTC would still be standing.
I would never go to New York City with only two rounds in my magazine.
Tyranny of the Law Abiding.
“Jerry isnt the first hick from the sticks to treat the WTC and the city in general site like an Old West saloon.”
That’s the kind of tolerance, open mindedness and compassion I have come to expect from NYC elite types. And they wonder why so many people hate NYC. Good job taking an innocent otherwise law abiding citizen and turning her into a criminal. All because she was smart enough to try to protect herself in the cesspool you think is the greatest city in the world.
Note to Ms Jerry, WTH do you have an empty chamber and only 2 in the mag?
Mall in Kenya.
Nuff said.
Yep.
They arrest innocent people. This makes the arrest numbers go up, so the public thinks they are solving the problem.
Meanwhile, hordes of fanatical life forms with 98% of human DNA plot how to murder Americans.
Bloomberg was a Democrat for the first 60 or so years of his life, a Republican between 2001-2005, and has been an independent for the last eight years.
Some folks won’t learn even that lesson until it is their turn to stare down the barrel of a bad-guys gun.
So how is it that NY’s laws trump the Constitution?
THAT is my question also.
I also avoid like the plague places like California, Illinois and any state that does not reciprocate with Arizona on my CCW permit.
Yes, Arizona does not require a CCW permit, but there are advantages. For example most states reciprocate.
I found it ironic that they accused her of making NYC into a Wild West town.
Yeah, it was her. It was so peaceful before she got there.
No “carry outside the home” case has made it to the Supreme Court yet.

Everyone was just flying kites and playing lutes.
Funny, Wisconsin respects New York gay marriages, although they are banned by the state Constitution. Why are the ONLY state documents not universally recognised are carry and CCW permits ???
I was under the impression that States were required to honor the licenses and permits of other States. . .
What people from NYC need to understand, is that much of the rest of country see them as a backward, corrupt urban center that has no respect for the rule of law and the Constitution.
Seems like the Wisconsin national guard should be called upon to perform an interstate hostage rescue of one of its law-abiding citizens.
This is why I will never go back to NY unless it is for a relative’s funeral.
Or there is a phone ap called “Legal Heat” that provides a great overview of each state’s laws, reciprocity agreements, and conceal/open carry laws.
I think I paid .99 for it.
I would never go to New York City with only two rounds in my magazine.
Between that, their policy on knives and the bedbug infestation who the heck would want to go there? Anything I can find in NYC I can find in Boston or somewhere else. As for the WTC Memorial, I’ll have to miss it.

a. FUNYC
b. Note to self: Do not step one TOE into NYC. Do not assist anyone from the state of NY if they are in trouble here in Wisconsin.
Ah-Yup. Gosh golly gee. I’m surprised I haven’t shot my own foot off yet! Yes, I’m just THAT stupid. *Rolleyes*
*Picks Nose* *Scuffles Feet*
LOL!
Link attached gives the answers from FAQs to NYCPD. I’d bet they’d love to roll it out nationwide... or move everyone to places where these rules apply.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/permits/gun_licensing_faq.shtml#HowDoIApply
We may find out when the blackout hits.
Can someone remind me where it says in the Constitution that my rights end when I cross state borders?
