Rand Paul wants Chief Justice Roberts all federal workers to enroll in Obamacare
Daily Caller ^ | 9/23/13 | Alex Pappas

Posted on 09/23/2013 10:46:56 AM PDT by grumpygresh

Arguing federal workers should not get special treatment, Rand Paul says he does not want taxpayers subsidizing the personal health-care plans of any federal employee — including Chief Justice John Roberts — anymore.

With some in Congress arguing lawmakers and their staff should not get subsidies to cover their health insurance as President Obama’s health-care law goes into effect, the Republican senator from Kentucky told The Daily Caller on Sunday that he’s going to start pushing a constitutional amendment that goes even further. Paul’s proposal — outlawing any special exemptions for government employees — would mean all federal workers would have to purchase health insurance on the new Obamacare exchanges instead of getting taxpayer-funded subsidies. Some critics say those subsidies amount to special treatment. The Obamacare health insurance exchange opens Oct 1.

Hell no!! Defund communist obamacare! Repeal it in 2014 or keep it defunded until 2016 then repeal it with the newly elected Republican president and Republican controlled house and senate!! Drive a stake through its unconstitutional evil heart so it can never rise again!!

Constitutional amendment? That is the first sign of not being serious.

Right on. Lets work hard for the 2014 first. We have to get the Senate and keep the House.

Sorry but these folks won’t feel it much. They have so much cash it won’t mean anything to them.

This is a diversion tactic.
I am sick of the “let Congress live under the same law” bs.

I dont want Obamacare even if Congress DOES have to live under it, as well.

Besides, Private Coverage, Employer Coverage, exempts anyone from buying an individual policy under Obamacare.

They need to participate in the same programs they have bound everyone else to.

Besides, there was no carve out for anyone in the legislation.

It was nothing short of despicable how Congress with Obama's help weaseled out of Obamacare. However, I didn't hear much denouncing from GOP members.

I am also wondering why there was no court challenge of Obama's clearly illegal delay of the Obamacare mandate for businesses.

If they vote in any way during any confusing proceeding they had better go along with Paul in this or they are just done

After the country feels the full weight of paying for other people’s health care while experiencing a severe if not total deterioration if their own while congress and their helpers live, against the constitution, a different better situation than the one they voted on for the taxpayers they are Dreaming-in doped up la la land- that they are not going to be taken out of power prestige and privilege

He made some comments on Sunday along the lines of Obamacare can’t be stopped like Ted Cruz wants to.

These are great emotional comments that do nothing to stop Obamacare-defund Obamacare.

Constitutional amendment? That is the first sign of not being serious.

That's my first thought. First it would not require a constitutional amendment a simple bill would do it. Second there is no chance of passing such a bill in our already "exempt" US congress.

RE :”That's my first thought. First it would not require a constitutional amendment a simple bill would do it. Second there is no chance of passing such a bill in our already “exempt” US congress. “

That is why almost none in congress have proposed including in the CR a specific provision that forbids Obama from giving congress and their staff this extra Obama-care $$$, because they all want it.

But as arguments go it would be near impossible for Dems alone to argue against a provision like that(to voters or even media) , recall it was the GOP minority in 2010 that shamed Dems into adding congress to Obama-care.

Congress doesn't feel any pain. They used to skim off our taxpayer money - now they keep most of it for themselves. And send back enough to bribe the uninformed to keep voting for them. Hollywood can move over - if you want to see real weath check out the blowhard crooks who live in DC - on the fat of the land. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/river-american-money-flows-dc_756600.html

Rand should hold a free lottery for the public where the winner gets a check equal to his Obamacare offset/exemption pay that he receives.

This Hunger-Games sort of contest would really draw attention to this and show what a sick thing Obamacare really is!

Funny. I am enforcing some words that have been used on me the last two years and the person who used their invective as a shield for immunity is learning:

“Exact words are pretty hard to live by.”

Ol’ Lincoln wasn’t just whistling Dixie, either. Were liberals subjected to HALF the laws they foist on the public, we’d see some mighty quick changes.

The most Cruz can hope for is a 1 year delay of the inevitable- whoopee.
Dumb strategy.

I’d rather see everyone hit-all at the same time, no exemptions, no delay or give people something to vote FOR, not AGAINST.

Delaying the mandate serves what purpose? Delaying payment for what they get…isn’t that what we used to call a “free lunch”? I thought republicans were against free lunches.

****

I agree in part. Absolutely -- give the congresscritters something to vote FOR not AGAINST.

BUT -- rather than voting to force every person, group, company, doctor or healthcare facility to participate, the GOP should add an amendment which allows every person, group or company to EXEMPT themselves or their company from participating.

Everybody gets a waiver!!!

The GOP can't be blamed for shutting down the government or taking away healthcare. And with no producers to pay for the slackers and few participating doctors and facilities, the weight of the program will collapse Obamacare on itself.
