Looking at guns in Mexico and at some farmers that take law into their own hands

"My daughter was raped and abducted," said a Mexican farmer.

President Obama says, "What's different in America is it's easy to get your hands on a gun."

First, from Aljazeera

The village warriors of Guerrero

AYUTLA DE LOS LIBRES, Mexico -- There on the cement town plaza, villagers led the two presumed extortionists over to government police. A band of farmers with old hunting rifles and machetes made sure the pair didn't get away

Three hundred eyes watched as the detainees were led to a truck. A wind was picking up and the official overseeing the handover wanted to leave quickly before the tropical storm. But the men in ripped shirts and worn sandals blocked his path and yelled, one by one. Why could the government not stop drug gangsters? How could he allow organized crime?

"The Mafia demanded 500 pesos ($50) a week from me," said a mechanic in a stained straw hat.

"My daughter was raped and abducted," said a farmer who had sold his wedding ring to pay ransom. "She was 17. You’re not doing your job."

At Navy Yard service, Obama rails against 'routine' of gun violence

But he also railed against lax gun laws that he blamed for murder rates in the United States that are three times higher than in other developed nations.

Take away crimes committed by black gang members and the rate drops to about equal to other industrialized nations.

If there is one thing that Hollywood gets right it’s that criminals can always get guns.

The law is to reside in the hands of sewer sharks that call themselves lawyers and judges.

You can’t compare Mexican violence to these psycho attacks.

The Mexican government, I’m sure, promptly released the criminal. Next time, the villagers will *really* take the law into their own hands, and the Federales won’t even be called.

They will soon learn the three magic letters "S, S, S"!
Rinse and repeat as needed.

These farmers/villagers are good people. If they get riled enough, well, think of the old Clint Eastwood movies. They can get medieval on these real fast. Notice they had “huntin’ rifles?” They’ll just set up some “regulators” and the sniper sh*t’s on.

I heard a claim a few days ago from either Mark Belling or Quinn & Rose that if you subtract out crimes from Chicago, Detroit and Washington DC the US crime rate is fourth-lowest in the industrialized world.

If you look at what the villagers are armed with, it is mostly single shot shotguns and .22 rifles.

That is the majority of guns that are smuggled into Mexico from the United States.

It is Julia picking up a .22 fro his uncle down on the farm in Mexico, then smuggling it down to him the next time he visits, that is most of the arms smuggling going on from the U.S. into Mexico.

The Mexican government does not like it, so they conspire with our government to say that we must stop the arms flow to the drug cartels.

The drug cartels have lots of money, and can buy arms on the world market.

Should be Julio, not Julia.
