There are rumors in Russian blogs that military has rejected Kalashnikov’s bid for a new standard-issue rifle with their latest AK-12 design. It is told that AEK-971 is most likely to replace AK-74M but these rumors might be a part of efforts to buy Kalashnikov cheaper.

Izhmash is OK, but Molot is superior.

Saigas are made at the Izmash factory and have a funky modified trigger.
VEPRS are made at Molot and are superior in every way.

The 2 private investors are probably McCain and Obamatollah.
Al Qaeda is expanding. They need the weapons.

In fact I like Saigas modified by a Legion company (better parts including some from Vepr, chromed, tactical layout). Like this one:

The only problem with Veprs is that the old slant cut receivers are proprietary, so it is difficult to modify the furniture on the cheap.

You also cannot find the first generation wood stocks anymore.
The 3rd generation was cut at a different angle.
That is my only gripe about Vepr’s you cant get aftermarket stocks very easily, but that is because so few are in country.
