Obama & George III, the Family Resemblance

Posted on 09/24/2013 2:34:50 AM PDT by Jacquerie

Before the Left came to dominate K-12, I learned in high school social studies that patriots risked their lives and property for eight years to avoid the expense of a few percent in stamp, sugar, or tea taxes. What rubbish.

Review our Declaration of Independence. It complains of George III’s abuses, usurpations, despotic and tyrannical intents, veto of our laws, suspension of our assemblies, appointment of judges loyal to him alone, and creating multitudes of offices to control us.

In the decade beginning with victory over the French and Indians, George III was determined to influence thirteen colonial legislatures as he did the English Parliament, only worse. As king, George III possessed a near absolute veto over laws, subject to limitations in the 1688 English bill of rights. Regarded more as a father figure, and certainly not a despot, wise kings were careful when it came to exercising their prerogative right to veto laws. Recent history had shown it could be dangerous to kingly health.

To influence and steer Parliament, George III created offices, well-paying administrative posts that often required little work. To many members of Parliament, these positions were the whole point of winning elections; secure employment on the understanding of allegiance to the political positions of the king. By this, George III faced fewer situations in which his veto was remotely necessary. This corruption of Parliament by the king, of members simultaneously holding elective and executive offices was well known and accepted . . . in Great Britain.

Across the Atlantic Ocean, George III attempted to secure his interest in colonial affairs through a similar appointment process among colonial legislator. In addition, he exercised his prerogative through appointed governors and judges. In America, George III went beyond the accepted limit of corruption he utilized in Great Britain. He needn’t fear angry mobs; we were too far away. Instead of being on an equal basis with Parliament, American legislatures were subservient to both Parliament and the King.

In short, because of gross executive overreach into colonial legislative and judicial processes, American patriots saw their rights as Englishmen dissolving before their eyes. THAT was the broad reason for our rebellion.

So what does that have to do with Obama? Everything. Look at the unconstitutional influence Obama exerts over Congress. For a single case in point, consider Obamacare. The fact that not a single rat member of Congress knew what he voted for stands as testament to the raw power the executive branch can hold over the legislative. Obama can’t offer no-show jobs like George III, but his flying monkeys Pelosi and Reid exerted tremendous pressure on behalf of Obama, in the known forms of Louisiana Purchases and Cornhusker Kickbacks. We’ll never know what else was promised in the form of K Street employment or CAMPAIGN FUNDING!

Not a single senate rat voted against Obamacare because it was political suicide to lose campaign funding support, especially in huge $ senatorial elections. Go along with Obama, and campaign funds will flow. Oppose, and expect to be primaried.

This is the American version of British Crown corruption.

As in 18th century Britain, we have become used to this violation of separation of powers, executive abuse of the legislative process. To whom are senators accountable? The people of their states? Not hardly. As this week’s showdown over Obamacare funding illustrates, rat senators, who know that Obamacare is strangling our economy and destroying health services, will continue to support the man who controls the campaign funds that will get them reelected.

Until the monetary dependence of senators on party bosses and Presidents is broken, there is zero chance we’ll reverse our rapid descent into tyranny. Cut the cord from them, return senatorial responsibility to our framer's design, to the states.

Sidebar: Unlike Obama, English Kings were not raised to hate their country. I’m not aware of any that supposed to act if Parliament did not. Not all were bright, but none worked to leave Great Britain worse off. When the Great Divider hopefully leaves office in 2017, he and his family will walk into a fantasy land of unearned, enormous wealth as their benefit for working so hard to destroy our republic, these United States.
