Maryland police to review arrest of parent who objected to Common Core
Fox news ^ | September 23, 2013

A Baltimore-area police chief is reviewing the arrest of a man who rose at a town hall-style meeting to challenge the national Common Core standards and wound up in an angry confrontation with an off-duty police officer.

Robert Small,46,showed up at the public forum Thursday night in Towson, but when he began asking questions about Common Core, the police officer, who was providing security at the meeting, shut him down.

“My question is how does lowering educational standards prepare kids for ... college, because that’s what it’s all about?” Small asked in a scene caught on videotape.

But audience members had been told to submit their questions first in writing, and when Small went off script, the police officer moved in. He was forcibly dragged out of the room, while exhorting the crowd to join his cause.

“...when Small went off script, the police officer moved in. He was forcibly dragged out of the room...”

I am SO troubled by the police state we now live in. I truly grieve for America.

too late. he was removed from a meeting he was legally allowed to be in, unless they jump in a time machine and allow him to speak his peace, the investigation will produce little satisfaction. The “ooops, we screwed up” answer will become familiar.

The democrats will use every aspect of government to quell dissent.

Yes, and he is a Federal employee. How dare he challenge Dear Leader. He will be disciplined by the VA regardless of what happens with any police "investigation."

Since when has it become AGAINST THE LAW to ask questions in a townhall meeting? The organizers might post "rules" about question times, but these "rules" don't carry the force of law.

It also seems to me that when a police officer gets paid for off duty security, and cannot even be identified as a policeman, he doesn't have the protections afforded to on-duty police officers.

The Delphi Technique: Let’s Stop Being Manipulated!

Generally, you will find that there is already someone designated to lead or “facilitate” the meeting. Supposedly, the job of the facilitator is to be a neutral, non-directing helper to see that the meeting flows smoothly.

Actually, he or she is there for exactly the opposite reason: to see that the conclusions reached during the meeting are in accord with a plan already decided upon by those who called the meeting.

The process used to “facilitate” the meeting is called the Delphi Technique. This Delphi Technique was developed by the RAND Corporation for the U.S. Department of Defense back in the 1950s.

… Generally, participants are asked to write down their ideas and disagreements with the papers to be turned in and “compiled” for general discussion after the general meeting is reconvened.

The democrats will use every aspect of government to quell dissent.

Make that abuse rather than use.

Off script is not free speech. And gee, what if someone’s question, or a govt response prompts another question?

The charges will be dismissed.
He will have to sue Baltimore County.
There are no separately incorporated political jurisdictions in Baltimore County. I think it is the only county in the country where that is the case.

From the video I saw the so-called police officer (Who was wearing a t-shirt that said security) assaulted the citizen at least once.

In my neck of the woods if this was tried in a town hall meeting and some jerk with a pretty t-shirt manhandled a citizen asking questions that jerk wouldn't make it to his car unscathed and many of those meting out a little small town justice on the hired thug would be the local off duty police.

Speaking your mind in a public forum is taken very seriously around here. Of course we still say the Lord's prayer at school functions so we're some of those bitter-clinger rebels you here the Liberals talk about.

I agree 100%. If they are off duty, and they are making money on the side as "security", then they should have no more authority or power than any other private security guard.

yes, but. when the feds are borrowing 40 cents of every dollar they spend, that’s a trend which cannot continue. and it won’t.

as important as it is to make the intellectual argument and pursue the associated political objectives, it is equally important to maintain a record of who is on which side.

in the case of law enforcement personnel, it is important to file administrative proceedings against their state and federal certifications. most states have some form of department of law enforcement with which you can file a grievance. time to start hanging paper on the sociopaths. patterns will emerge. the same people will be involved time and again in excessive force or unwarranted intervention episodes. tag em. ID the power trippers and the sadists.

As important, don’t let them enjoy the fruits of freedom after we’ve won. they need to be held up and ridiculed for the freaks they are— little men and women who need the cloak of official authority to have meaning for their pathetic lives. in the meantime, tell your kids to make fun of their kids on the playground.

School boards are a joke. They are there to give the illusion of representation to the locals. The unions and administrative bureaucrats make sure the boards are stuffed with a majority of retired teachers or relatives of district employees to make sure pay, benefits and pensions are never cut and that stsate and federal policies are adopted and implemented. One or two seats will usually be allowed to be held by a commoner, but that’s just window dressing to make it look like there is real representation of the taxpayers.

Dissent is not against the law.

what that cop did is treason, no if and's or buts.

Since he is more than likely a private contractor like all Police, Sheriff, Highway patrol, across the country.

Kidnapping is the first charge I would hit them with then I would go after the town council.

The video clearly shows an assault incident. Mr. Small was assaulted. He was charged with second degree assault of a police officer. The problem for the government is that this individual was not a police officer. He was a bouncer. This bouncer flashes a badge - he has his fingers over it as if he is aware that this is against local policy. An off duty policeman is a citizen - with the same rights and obligations as every other citizen - no more no less. Local policy does not trump federal law. If Mr. Small was assaulted and kidnapped, the bouncer committed a federal crime. Of course Mr. Holder will not prosecute one of “his people.”
It appears that only one woman stood up. In response to Mr. Small’s question: “You are sitting here like cattle! Is this America?” The answer is no. We have been fundamentally transformed. Common Core is backed by the federal government and adopted by 45 states so it must be a “good thing.” The education bureaucracy is the most corrupt institution in the entire 58 states. It is filled with individual with advanced degrees who are virtually illiterate.

What pi$$es me off is nobody else in the group of citizens had this mans back. Take notes if your planning to revolt. Your living amongst jellyfish.

Take friends, disperse throughout the room (which makes your numbers seem greater). Do not converse with each other in the parking lot, hallway, or in the room, or you will let them know you are on the same team.

If you are to have an effect, you must at least seem to outnumber all the flunkies form the establishment who show up, or all the people who are opposed to you.

Be polite, professional, and play all the angles, from innocent, but curious housewife to expert that you can. Hit 'em from all directions, and have the most damning or difficult questions asked by those who can be portrayed as 'victims' in the event they are treated badly. Others can step in and back them up, appearing to be spontaneous (if they are not).

Follow up on questions with statements like "I don't think you adequately answered that gentleman's question and I would like to know...".

Tag team, double team, etc., and meet out of the public eye beforehand and afterward for pre-action and after action review.

Use those meetings to critique how things could have been handled better, and learn from any mistakes.
