The United States, the worlds largest arms dealer, has joined more than 90 other nations in signing a treaty that regulates global arms trading, but there is strong resistance in the Senate, which must ratify it.
Secretary of State John Kerry, who signed the Arms Trade Treaty on Wednesday, said it was a significant step in keeping the world safe and preventing terrorists and others from obtaining conventional weapons.
Addressing U.S. critics of the treaty, the former senator said fears that it would undermine Americans constitutional right to keep and bear arms are not grounded in reality.
For one, the treaty does not regulate domestic weapons sales.

The treaty clearly calls for some kind of internal registration and tracking of all firearms— so Kerry and the AP (”All Propaganda”) are lying, as usual.

Is this a back door way for them to criminalize and fine the U.S with huge awards to countries Eric and Barry send guns to? You know, distribute wealth to our ‘friends’? After all, all those guns came from the U.S. right?

Secretary of State John Kerry, who signed the Arms Trade Treaty on Wednesday, said it was a significant step in keeping the world safe and preventing terrorists and others from obtaining conventional weapons. Yet, they send arms across the border in Fast and Furious to known criminal elements, while also supplying arms to Libyan and Syrian based AQ groups.

The clown in the WH likely will attempt to implement his interpretation of treaty without consent of the Senate.
To: SumProVita
Kerry’s signature will be used to get the U.N. nation participation rate up to the point where this is ratified at the U.N.
Once that’s done, it doesn’t really matter what the U.S. Senate does. It’s still considered international law. And international law trumps U.S. law.
So what if U.S. Citizens object? It’s a done deal.
Clinton did it with the I.C.C. Now Kerry is doing it on behalf of the U.S.
If our Senate ratifies or not, it doesn’t matter.
The U.N. gun grabbers will have achieved their goal.

Had to LOL that statement.
It is all foreign and domestic enemies who are not grounded in reality. They don’t seem to understand what it means to be free AND armed.

They understand they do not want the lower class to be armed. It inhibits the ‘elites’ freedom to control the lower class.

Domestically, we will be able to stave off action for a while. International trade will be affected at once.
Municipalities will develop their own rules based on international law bypassing our government.
It will get messy, and the courts will have to settle it.
What with idiots like Ginsberg siting foreign legal precedence for her decisions and the like, we shouldn’t feel very secure in our rights.

I agree, but look how the Kyoto protocols were slipped into our nation without our government signing on. States and municipalities implemented much of it. In many areas it’s the same as if our federal government had signed on.
Don’t expect this to be much different. There is going to be a full assault on the Second Amendment. We just as well get ready for it.

I still want to know whether Holder or the Obama Administration received an IEEPA waiver, or special license from Commerce, for arming these groups.
There is no wiggle room in the IEEPA and nobody seems to be asking this question regarding Libya. If Bush had to get authorization for the lead up to Iraq, where is the special license for Obama?
To: DoughtyOne
They have . . . and what will happen is if it does occur and the USA’s focus turns inexorably inwards, then the other burgeoning world powers will rise up very quicklyand they are very hawkish in spite of their rhetoric, so WWIII will end up sneaking up behind our backs.

“International law does not trump the Constitution. What part of soverignty do you not understand. “
What part of they don’t give a shit what you think the constitution says, they will use this treaty as a means to create a gun registry as outlined in that treaty and they will later use that registry against you. They violate the law all the time but here you naively think they will follow it somehow.

International law does not trump the Constitution. What part of soverignty do you not understand.
You're missing the point completely. Do I have to disapprove of our sovereignty, our self-determination, or our Constitution to recognize what will take place despite my objections?
The Kyoto Treaty mandates have been implemented in municipalities across this nation. Did our federal government's refusal to sign on to the Kyoto Treaty block it's implementation? No.
Look for the same thing to play out once international laws go anti-gun rights for real.
You're going to see a whole slew of municipalities going anti-gun, just like Washington, D. C. and Chicago already have. Do you see anyone striking down those arcane government refusals to recognize our Constitutional rights?
Do you think it gets better or worse from here, if the U.N. announces it's new mandate has been ratified? Worse, much worse... and don't think for a minute our federal officials will be defending our rights. They most certainly won't.
Also know that U.N. rules don't require 50% + 1 to be ratified. They only require a certain level of approval of member states, to ratify. When the I.C.C. was ratified, it was much less than 50%.
You think I am the problem because I recognize what's going to take place?

It’d be good news if it meant that other world powers don’t rise up and suddenly get very interested in our domestic affairs, to the point where they want to come visit with their militaries. If nobody’s commanding our military to stop them, that’d be more than just a slight problem . . .

Obama does not care about, or even like, this (in his words) “deeply flawed” document. He will take the route of saying that we should follow “international norms”. This is what Rebecca Peters and her ilk at IANSA (International Action Network on Small Arms) have been pushing for years.

Yep. And that man went down fighting for freedom - freedom that was won through the blood of our Forefathers.
Sounds to me like there's a bunch of folks willing to settle for doing what we are told by king obama and his many minions.
There will be those who fight and die so that naysayers can live free as well. Cowards who would reap the benefits won by heroes.
