An adult at 18? Not any more: Adolescence now ends at 25...
UK Daily Mail ^ | 9/24/2013 | Victoria Woollaston

Adolescence no longer ends when people hit 18, according to updated guidelines being given to child psychologists.

The new directive is designed to extend the age range that child psychologists can work with from 18 years old up to 25.

It is hoped the initiative will stop children being 'rushed' through their childhood and feeling pressured to achieve key milestones quickly, reports the BBC.

If you make it to 50 and you haven’t grown up yet, you don’t have to! :-)

>>And Baby Huey gets to stay on dad’s healthcare plan till age 26 thanks to Bammycare.<<

Well, that was also true for me back in 1985 when I was 22. I don’t know who was providing my parents’ health insurance, but that was the way they worked. I didn’t need it for long. Soon I got a job with my own health insurance (Blue Cross). But it was nice to know I had a backup.

Now, should this be mandatory? That’s a different question.

There are lots of 30 year old “kids” in our neighborhood still living at home. They drive nice cars, spend weekends at the beach, and otherwise have plenty of fun with no responsibilities.

My brother didn't move out of our parents' house until he was 30. By that point he was an 8 year veteran of the NYPD and had been paying rent to our parents for 12 years. He also paid half the grocery, electric and gas bills, all of the phone bill, and his own car payments and insurance. He spent his vacations in places like Cancun and Jamaica and had lots of fun. I had been out of the house 8 years at that point.

We both bought our first homes within a year of each other. I had a $42,000 mortgage on my $47,000 townhouse. He had a $50,000 mortgage on his $150,000 townhouse.

Its going to catch up to them someday.

It sure has caught up with him. He's retired from NYPD, owns 3 apartment buildings, a bar (where he works 7days a week,) and is a partner in 3 or 4 other businesses.

Not all 30 year old "kids" are irresponsible.

You are an adult at 18-some are even younger-adulthood is a matter of parental teaching of responsibility, not biological age-where I come from, 18 is when you pay rent if you live at home, and are allowed to have a voice in family decisions. You are also responsible for your own vehicle and insurance, job, and most of all, your own actions-period.

I also assumed adult responsibilities at 16, and eloped with a 19 year old guy became a parent-and single-soon after, went to college with my job paying for it, and family help with childcare. Thanks to the rotten economy and MrT5’s death, I’m busting my ass just as hard now, and living on the ragged edge of ruin. I also know that it will get better if I keep on truckin’, because God has always seen me through.

Maybe I’m a hard bitch, but I have no sympathy for bogus “kids” older than 18, or their foolish parents-useless is as useless does...

>>voting should be contingent on one thing: emancipation. the age at which you function as an independent adult. no parental support, no public support, no transfer payments, no unpaid tax debts to the government. voting is an adult act in that it gives you an element of influence and control over the quality of your fellow citizens lives.<<

I agree. The vote should be limited to “makers,” not “takers.”

But imagine the howls of “racism” if someone made such a proposal. You’d be able to hear it on Pluto.

How many of the Marines that stormed the beach at Iwo Jima were 18 years old at the time? An awful lot of them. What a change, in just two generations...

The 25 adulthood limit won't stand up for long, either. After some of the social functions I've attended lately, I think it's already nearing 50. :)

The arrested development of adult men and women is a central pillar of the Communist/Globalist Agenda.

Than I propose that no one under the age of 26 be allowed the franchise. That would put almost every Democrat out of office.

“100-some years ago, it wasn’t unusual for a 19-year-old man to put his 17-year-old wife into a covered wagon and go set up a homestead and start raising a family.”

My ancestors from Spain were in their mid-teens when they packed up and came to a new place to be away from royal domination-alone-sometime around 1600...

And before then-at least in the Middle Ages-it was common for men who were good strategists and warriors to lead armies in their late teens, if they were really sharp.

As for young women, there are a number of old family archives from Britain of correspondence between soldiers and their wives-him telling her he will be home as soon as may be, and her outlining her take from selling trade goods, and her expenditures for management of their estate-everything from food to livestock-in detail. Fascinated, I read a bunch of them when I was in college-the youngest of those women managing a sizeable estate and/or business was 15...

So...it’s ADOLESCENTS we are sending to die in Muslim hellholes? Hmmm, shouldn’t that be illegal?

But by that time the mortgage on their parents’ home is probably paid off and they don’t really need much more than a menial part time job to get by.

Clearly the age of consent must be raised to 25.

Because they don’t want it to. My 29 year old nephew in law has NEVER had a job and does not want one. He has specifically says he doesn’t see a reason to become a responsible adult, he and his friends just mooch off their parents and each other, and what they can’t mooch they scam, and what they can’t scam they steal.

The unemployment rate doesn’t matter to people who have no intention of ever having a job.

The under-employment rate doesn’t matter to people who have no intention of ever having a job.

The housing prices don’t matter to people who have no intention of ever paying their own bills.

Job longevity doesn’t matter to people who have no intention of ever having a job.

I’m not being dismissive, I have the misfortune of being related to this crowd. They are 100% abject losers who will NEVER participate in the adult world.
