Tennessee: Obamacare will triple men's premiums, double women's
Washington Examiner ^ | SEPTEMBER 25, 2013 | PAUL BEDARD

Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander released his analysis of the report's portion on his state. He found that Obamacare will cost far more than what many of his constituents are paying today, some by as much as 190 percent.

rom his release:

— Today, a 27-year-old man in Memphis can buy a plan for as low as $41 a month. On the exchange, the lowest state average is $119 a month — a 190 percent increase.

— Today, a 27-year-old woman in Nashville can also buy a plan for as low as $58 a month. On the exchange, the lowest-priced plan in Nashville is $114 a month — a 97 percent increase. Even with a tax subsidy, that plan is $104 a month, almost twice what she could pay today.

— Today, women in Nashville can choose from 30 insurance plans that cost less than the administration says insurance plans on the exchange will cost, even with the new tax subsidy.

— In Nashville, 105 insurance plans offered today will not be available in the exchange.

Here are 59 reasons why hypocrite politicians and unions that support Obamacare want exemptions for themselves

I watched Ted Cruz during his valiant effort to halt the disaster called Obamacare. I hope you watched it as well. If he has used it once, he used the phrase “...we no longer listen to the people, our constituents...” over a hundred times. And he was right...they don’t. And the fact is, THEY NO LONGER NEED TO.

I’ve sent my little rant on this topic before but Ted’s honest comment compels me to do so again.

Dick Bachert
*************
WHY THE POLITICAL RULING CLASS NO LONGER LISTENS TO US!

Among others, Thomas Jefferson warned that the financial disaster we now face would be but one of many problems paper money would visit upon us if we allowed our “leaders” to remove the backing from the currency, to wit:

“When the servants if the people are paid with something other than that which the people themselves have produced (i.e. the real, tangible products of their labors or some fixed and real medium of that exchange), the roles of master and servant will be reversed.”

It was believed by Roger Sherman and a majority of those at the Constitutional Convention that un-backed currency would so damage the fabric of the nation that they ATTEMPTED to prohibit it with these few words at Article 1, Section 10, requiring the states to enforce the prohibition: “No State shall…make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts;”

If the people and their states grew inattentive to this matter (and they have!), Jefferson also saw this problem ahead:

In a letter to John Taylor in 1816, he wrote, “And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”

We have been “…swindling futurity…” for a long time and this is now where we find ourselves. If the government, through its banker masters at the Federal Reserve, can create “money” from thin air, they certainly don’t need ours every April 15th. That annual sheep shearing is simply an attempt to vacuum enough of the excess paper from the system to keep the rest of us from catching on to the biggest theft ring in the history of man. They have now created so much that their attempt is failing and failing badly to a point where all but the dullest among us (Obama voters and his growing cadres of personal and corporate welfare beneficiaries) are starting to “get it.”

If you understood that last paragraph, you can now make the small leap to an understanding as to why the “progressive” utopian welfare state hacks in Washington don’t give a damn WHAT you think. Their power to create all the “money” they need to fuel their infernal machine and fill the gaping maws of enough of those hoards of welfare constituents to assure their perpetual re-election means that — ready — THEY NO LONGER NEED YOU! They have become, as Mr. Jefferson predicted, our MASTERS.

That they are taking down a nation and a system that has provided more wealth, safety and abundance to more people than any other in history matters not to them. Failing to grasp the lesson of the French Revolution, they believe themselves to be above the impending disaster.

We’re running out of time to get this increasingly rapacious beast back into the cage from which we have carelessly allowed it to escape.

What no one seems to be talking about though is exactly what do these plans cover, how much is their deductible and what is their co-pay.

We’ve seen patients recently whose monthly premium may not have “broken the bank”, but their deductible was $5,000 per year per family member, they had a 50% co-pay and there were severe limits on what their policy would cover.

They need LOTS of young people to make the plan work. That is not going to happen with rate increases being published now.

None of this matters.

Virtually every regressive website out there is touting that the costs for Zerocare is reasonable and in some cases lower than expected.

What we have is two “alternate realities” on display.

Liberals will go to their favorite reality while conservatives will go to theirs. Folks in the middle will shake their head and see this as politics as usual.

The difference between the alternate reality of Zerocare and previous political/ideological divides is that the reality of Zerocare will actually affect the lives of the zombies in a very personal way.

Never before have liberals been put in a position to live by the rules that they support. Not like this.

This is going to get really interesting.

Posted this on another thread, but it applies here ...

As the insanity draws nearer, I’m hearing more and more squawking from the completely “low-info” types who are STUNNED that they’re going to have to ACTUALLY PAY MONEY for this thing! We’re so well-informed around here at FR that we forget the massive number of people out there who simply believe everything they are spoon-fed by the mainstream media and were and are fully convinced that “Obamacare” simply means FREE MEDICAL CARE. The reaction of these millions of people when they find out it ISN’T FREE AT ALL is going to be a thing to behold.

Oh my God! I just checked the exchange rates for my current situation. $20,000 deductible policy for $600 per month?

The rates are low compared to what we are paying under our employer sponsored plan, but the deductibles are insane!

I begin to imagine the stupidity of this circus as it unfolds before my eyes. I guess the Pelosi logic is that we have to sign up for the exchanges in order to find out what's in them. It ain't good folks.

The plan costs are reasonable as presented, yes.

When you look into what they cover and what the real costs are, it's the stuff of pure coronary events.

Despite paying a lot of attention to this bill, I still can't figure out what the out of pocket expenses are, but I think they are capped at a percentage of income. I don't know if those caps are going to take effect this year.

Where the big problem is going to hit is when all the holes in the program hit. There are stories everyday where employers are dumping dependent coverage. Those spouses and children will not be eligible for subsidies in Obamacare and the financial burden will be born by middle class families.

the financial burden will be born by middle class families

perhaps this wasn't a "mistake", but a "feature"?

You know how much commies hate the middle class.

I suppose that was my point.

When the Zerocare supporter gets their bill and says “WTF”, that’s not what I expected.

“WTF, I’ve got to pay what ? for what ?”
