Wal-Mart Stores Inc. WMT , scrambling to right the damage that was done after a Bloomberg News report said its cutting orders to reduce inventory, denied the report and shot back to say the article is completely false.
The report lacks the fundamental understanding of how the retail world works and the fundamental ebbs and flows of inventory, Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said in an interview. Its typically how retail works. We have thousands of buyers across thousands of categories. We are increasing orders in some categories and decreasing in others. Categories that are doing well. We are calling those suppliers right now. We are cutting back where it makes sense. Its not out of the blue.

My bet would be Bloomberg's reporter is lying.
Look for the Holder footprint? Wal-Mart doesn’t bow down to the king very well.
then why are the racks crammed with halloween crap, and Christmas will be up in a few days after. All with part time workers, so they don’t have to pay health ins. There is even talk of doing away with the geezer greaters. They finally learned they lost money when they did away with the fabric departments. Still the clothes are made in foreign countries, not AMERICA!
Somebodys lying ... My bet would be Bloomberg's reporter is lying.
Ordinarily a pretty safe bet ... but, unfortunately, the audited financial
statements make a compelling case that the Newser got it right for once.
Your assessment of Walmart is far too generous. Add to the list increasingly inferior products. Service is now horrible.
Employees no longer hide what’s wrong internally. I needed a price check on a heavy item that did not have a price. The checker said I could drag it over to her or it would be a long wait to get someone to help me.
I am quite sure that Wall Mart is not going broke any time soon but I am also sure that WM has been impacted by the over all poor economy which could be turned around within a few month if we did not have the poorest, dumbest, socialistic inspired crooked regime in the history of this nation. Unless there are some drastic changes made I certainly do not foresee much of a change in the foreseeable future in regards to the overall economy. On the other hand what else could we expect from a former community organizer whose mind still dwells in a socialistic dreamland, on top of it is an (i)slam sympathizer an idea and so called religion which has not worked in the past and even less likely to work in the future.
I go to my local WM fairly often, which happens to be of fairly good size, but is not one of the super centers and one thing I have noticed for some time now, where as before some of the main isles where clear and unobstructed now they are filled and cluttered with a variety of mostly cheap odds and ends designed and directed to entice people who might buy something on impulse, as I am quite sure WM has realized some time ago that disposable income is way down. Also more and more generic brands can be found on many shelves as people go for less expensive alternatives as opposed to brand names. Many items are no longer available or have disappeared altogether, probably due to the fact if the computer shows slow or no sales, they just have to go and I cant say I blame WM.
On the other hand I also shop at Aldis and all I can say is that their sales are impressive. They do not have the variety, or some items may be available at one time but then are gone and may not return until several weeks later. But they carry most of the basic items for a reasonable price and no doubt are a thorn in WM side. But for many people who are on a limited budget are a welcome alternative even to WM.
Our Communist Chinese supporter Wal Mart supporters will come soon to defend Wal Mart....and sing the praises of Wal Mart offering same sex couples benefits they do not offer traditional families
Reason? Two words..."Paula Deen"
20 registers and only 2 open most of the time. I stopped shopping there after several times of waiting in line so long the frozen foods melted. So I have to pay more at Publix to have non-spoiled food when I get home. Oh well.
Maybe Obama will take over WM to show us how to run a business.
Well I know one thing for sure. They have reduced their ammunition inventory by a large amount.
Depends on the Walmart, some are better than others at service, area of country also is a factor. Some I would not go near even during the day unarmed.
Glad we moved out of the cesspit called Memphis, just a 22 mile move and it is like a new world.
Hussein couldn’t run a lemonade stand.
