The sooner the Republican Party dies, the sooner something better can take its place. It is a mess of stinking old corpses at the moment, who have no reason for being there except being there.

Cruz’s intention is to destroy the party so that Democrats control both houses and the White House forever with a tiny but ideologically pure Republican party in opposition.

But there are some honorable Americans and the honorable Americans support what Cruz is doing. None of the honorable Americans support either party

I’d say in the last year...I’ve come to the agreement that half the Republican senators had their peak of enthusiasm in the 1980s....for the last twenty years....they’ve been simply an anchor with no ship.

I’d just as much prefer to see some Democrat replace Senator McCain or the others, and get on with a real political party emerging as well.

If you understood how foolish they now look on TV...they’d realize that no one is going to take them serious in 2014.

Actually you have it exactly opposite. You are describing the McConnell do nothing tip toe to the next election plan. McConnell and nearly all of the Senate GOP are quite content with their status as the minority party.

The position any Republican should take on any issue is relative to the amount of squealing done by Democrats. When Democrats squeal the loudest, it’s means the Republican pol is doing the right thing. They were all squealing very loudly and the biggest Dem pig, Harry Reid, was oinking louder than all the other Dem pigs. The lib media pigs were also doing a tremendous amount of squealing about Cruz. That meant Cruz was absolutely doing the right thing.

Just got this in an email recently. So true.

Psychology 101

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water.

After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result ... all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away.

Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one.

The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one.

The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment...... with enthusiasm, because he is now part of the “team”.

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by the fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked.

Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds...that is the way it has always been!

This, my friends, is how Congress operates... and this is why, from time to time: ALL of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME

Wow.

Just wow.

You speak as if the GOP and Democrats are actually opposing forces of principals rather than just competing for raw power over the rest of the country. Both parties are full of our Ruling Class Overlords who say and do whatever is convenient to keep that power, which always results in our freedom and liberty diminishing.

I have no room in my heart for political hacks, whether they be Democrat or Republican. A pox on all of them.

We don’t seek idealogical purity, just people who will uphold their oaths of office and represent us rather than the interests of the beltway locust swarm.

I think I hung with the stupid party for a very long time, longer than most people did. I always made excuses for them, thinking they really did want to do the right thing. Even I have finally given up on them. The GOP-E is quite content at being the permanent minority party, as long as they can attend their dinners and cocktail parties, and have all the nice perks, that the ruling class enjoy. F them all.

RE :“You were given the choice between war and dishonor,” Winston Churchill chided GOP wannabe Neville Chamberlain on the eve of the world war; a war that was largely crafted on a series of compromises by Chamberlain ala McClique.
“You chose dishonor, and you will have war,” thundered Churchill.”

Its a darn good thing that Roosevrelt stayed out of Europe until Gernamy declared war on US.

US was very anti-war up until then.

By waiting Roosevelt had a united American nation against both Germany and Japan and could do almost anything he needed to defeat them.

Imagine if he tried to attack Germany and Japan in 1930s and he had a civil war back here on his hands at the same time,
we saw some of that here in US in the 2000s.

Funny, Cruz isn't the one caving to the Dems. Cruz isn't the one pushing amnesty which truly would make the GOP a permanent minority party.

Cruz’s plan won’t work. Both from a practical standpoint (there’s enough GOP squishes to ensure defeat) and from an implementation standpoint. Defunding Obamacare actually does little to no good. Most importantly, it doesn’t stop the subsidies which kick in on January 1, and once those come into play, good luck ever getting them repealed.

That said, I stand with Cruz on this, and want him to push it to the limit. Not because it will work, but because it forces Democrats and squishes to “own” Obamacare.

When I joined FR it was about opposing Democrats. Now it’s about destroying Republicans.

And you're wrong in both views. FR has always been about promoting conservatism, not about siding with one political party or another. The GOP is a sometime ally for conservatives, and the Democrats are a pretty consistent enemy, but that doesn't let the GOP off the hook when they start collaborating with the enemy.

That very old refrain is repeated once again - woulda' - coulda' - shoulda' ... but didn't; always forgotten is that "You never get the time back."

IIRC, McCain went to the woodshed in his last re-election run saying that he had "learned his lesson" (then on immigration reform). The good people of AZ re-elected him - believing that such a conversion was possible. Many other RINOs used that same tact, and likewise were re-elected.

Some were "primaried" out, but the GOP tactics of scorched earth/attrition against the Tea Party worked perfectly, however.

Seems a grand plan might be: (a) primary-out in 2014 by any/all means possible (e.g., misinformation in "polls", repeatedly refresh memories of past positions,...) as many RINOs as can be got - all would be a good goal, no excuses and no "I promise to do better." and (b) defeat as many Dim-0-crats as possible.

Start yesterday for 2016. Do not go to "winter quarters" after 2014 - learn, refine strategies/tactics for better 2016 results. More targets to be got - some very high-value come to mind.

Words are not actions and actions are not results.

McCain "got" six more years, for example, of "same old, same old" RINOism. Fool me once today is once too many.

Or plan (c): vote all incumbents out - clean, simple, and a step forward.
