Delay is not defunding but it’s better than nothing.

Now if Manchin’s constituents could get him on board with voting NO on Cloture, that would be really significant.

And if Manchin is pressured to delay or defund, dem senators can be brought on board as well.

Need only 41 Senators to vote NO on Cloture. Mike Lee says he knows of 15 confirmed. That leaves 26 to go.

Call or Fax your Senators today!!!

Bull, this was the plan all along.

File an amendment to do it now Joe.
File it today in time for the cloture vote.

“Behind closed doors in the Capitol, House Republican leaders laid out their demands for a debt-ceiling increase to the Republican rank and file.
They include a one-year delay of the president’s health care law...”

Kabuki theater indeed...

Delay? No way!

If they can’t kill it, it’s better to have ObamaCare ASAP. That way, a lot of people will get screwed, and they will take their anger out on Obama and the Democrats next November.

If ObamaCare is delayed a year, the general public won’t get hammered until AFTER the election. It will be a win for the Democrats.

Question:

Aren’t we playing into the DemRats hands by delaying full implementation until after the 2014 elections?

Many will say a delay is a surrender, but I have a parable:

A man is sentenced to be executed by a crooked King. The man convinces the King to give him a year to teach a pig how to speak, and the King agrees. A friend of the man asks, “Why would you promise such a thing?!?” The man replies, “I will probably be executed next year, but between now and then, events could intervene on my behalf. The King may have a change of heart. The pig may actually speak. The King could die. But I have zero chance of any mercy if I just go to the gallows today.”

Manchin is concerned about his political life. WV is turning red because of EPA and Obamacare.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he flipped parties.

I think a one year delay is an excellent fall back tactic. I’d prefer a 9 month delay, so the impact hits right at election time, but I’ll go with a one year delay hitting next October.

I also believe this is directly due to the efforts of Sen. Ted Cruz.

He led.

Others cowered.

Not a good deal for the GOP. In this scenario, Obamacare gets funded, the net cost balloons due to this shortfall in coerced revenue, and the Obama team gets another full year to sort out their mess, cover things up, get their story straight, etc. in the run-up to 2014.

If the GOP is serious, then winning commanding majorities in both houses in the 2014 elections needs to be the primary concern. In 2012 it failed to stand against Obamacare by its nomination of Romney, and failed to get the support of much of its own base - a group more than large enough to have swung the election the other way - as a direct result.

The strategy that will win majorities is rolling back the tide of absurd, nonsensical, expensive, and oppressive federal legislation, of which Obamacare is the archetype. Kicking the can to fix what cannot be fixed, that is not a winning strategy. Standing idle while the consequences rain down on the country is not a winning strategy either.

It’s fight Obamacare to the last, or go home time for the GOP.

Joe Manchin is not breaking with the White House on anything. He is simply trying to BS the voters of West Virginia into believing he is a conservative. If Page One of the Obamacare bill provided for federal funding of abortion, a complete takeover of the entire US healthcare system, and set up death panels, and the Democrats were one vote short of passing it with Manchin still left to vote, then the West Virginia Senator would vote in favor, and every media outlet in America would be praising him for his courageous stand.

Tomorrow or Saturday, when a cloture vote is taking place in the US Senate, we'll see how far Manchin breaks with Reid and the White House. I suspect his vote will be YEA in lockstep with Durbin, Coons, Schumer, Mikulski, Warren, Murray, Hagan, etc.

Obama lost West Virginia. Obama is destroying the coal indsutry the states leading resource...Manchin is screwed politically if he continues to support the man who is workingn to destroy his state.
May the numbers increase!

I prefer repeal first, defund second, but will take delay.

Why: it gives us time to fight and slowly play out the horror show that it is. Drip, drip, drip. If mcconnellcare is implemented, it’s a nation destroyer. I’m not ready for that.

Delay it till hell freezes over.

when someone who is not retiring and up for reelection joins in then we have something newsworthy.

One “sanctioned” senator defection is ok in order to give him cover.

I see that his approval numbers are way down from 2012 too. Bears good news for us in 2014 there with the open Senate seat.

I wish Manchin would switch parties already
