John McCain adviser regrets starting Sarah Palin 'freak show' (FUJM)
Washington Examiner ^ | 9/27/2013 | By Washington Examiner staff reports

The political operative who brought former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin onto the national political stage as Sen. John McCain's 2008 vice presidential running mate now says he has “deep regret” about doing creating the “freak show that's been running wild for four years” in the Republican Party.

Steve Schmidt was running McCain's presidential race when he helped convince the GOP nominee that bringing in a fresh, conservative face like Palin would be a game changer in a race being dominated by Democrat Barack Obama. The results proved disastrous for McCain.

Palin became a leader of what Schmidt called an “asininity” wing of the Republican Party, hardcore conservatives looking to purge the party of moderates and anyone willing to compromise with Democrats.

“For the last couple of years, we’ve had this wing of the party running roughshod over the rest of the party,” Schmidt said on MSNBC. “Tossing out terms like RINO, saying we’re going to purge, you know, the moderates out of the party.

“We’ve lost five U.S. Senate seats over the last two election cycles,” he said. “And fundamentally we need Republicans, whether they’re running for president, whether they’re in the leadership of the Congress, to stand up against a lot of this asininity.”

Senator, the freak show was YOU! It still is.

You did a great service for your country during your time in the military. Thank you. Your ensuing service in the Senate has undone all that prior military service many times over. For that, damn you.

John McCain is getting freakier than McQueeg with every passing day. I am waiting for him to start chewing the carpet.

He’s a poofter. He sees Sarah and conservatives as the enemy, not Obama.

It was a big mistake to get someone on the ticket who is a patriot and stirs the passions of conservatives.

Sarah was the only reason I voted for McCain, and I still had to hold my nose.

WHAT a jerk. First he takes credit for bringing her in, and then disses her as obnoxiously as he can...which means that HE couldn’t control her, HE didn’t like it, SHE was a thousand times more popular than juan, and now he can’t get rid of her no matter how hard he tries. And that’s a good thing.

If Steve Schmidt really, really, sincerely believes this than he should get the hell out of politics and off tv because he unleashed a horrible, unstoppable force!

He's just jealous Palin and conservatives see him for the weasel he is, and her popularity eludes him.

Without Palin on the ticket, Republicans wouldn’t have gotten out of single digits.

McCain tried to get elected by making a deal with conservatives, then threw away the election by reneging on the deal before the election was even over.

Welcome to history’s footnotes, Senator.

Ever notice how the only time Republican operatives and official can play “guts ball” is when attacking the democrats’ enemies?

“It was a big mistake to get someone on the ticket who is a patriot and stirs the passions of conservatives”....

It was PALIN who brought McLame up to be the “almost” president but it was McLame himself who defeated...himself.

I would loved to have seen someone other than the old RINO McLame running at that time, having Palin as his VP candidate. We wouldn’t be agonizing over odumbocare right now if that had taken place. McLame is a looser who needs to be sent to pasture, his “service” days are over. He has screwed the country enough.

Without Sarah on the ticket, McLame would have gotten less than 20% of the popular vote.

Sarah Palin was worth over 20 million votes to McLoser.

Steve Schmidt shows us the Loony Left is still afraid of her.

She does more to influence the national debate from her kitchen counter in Wasilla, AK than the power brokers in DC do.

The title is misleading. I thought he would apologize for the freak show he caused by back stabbing her for eons and awaking us to the enemies within.

I also thought incorrectly, that would he would change his twisted ways, turn a new leaf, and make nice.

Instead the Hss-Aat doubled down. Is this guy a Kamikaze pilot or what...
