Harkin: Tea Party 'every bit' as dangerous to nation as the Civil War
The Hill ^ | September 27, 2013 | Ramsey Clark

Posted on 09/27/2013 7:29:26 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on Friday said that the Tea Party movement is just as dangerous for America as the Civil War.

“A small group of willful men and women who have a certain ideology about how our country should run and what we should do cannot get their way in a normal discourse and votes,” Harkin said. “Since they can’t get their way they’re going to create this confusion and discourse and hope the public is so mixed up in who to blame for this that perhaps they’ll blame both sides.”

“That is the path they see for taking over the government. It’s dangerous, very dangerous. … Every bit as dangerous as the break up and the Civil War.”

Harking made the comments as the Senate prepared to vote on continuing resolution that would fund the government past Sept 30. Democrats are moving to stip language from the bill that would defund President Obama's healthcare law.

Harkin said Republicans were throwing a “temper tantrum” and threatening to "take their marbles home" unless they get their way on ObamaCare, risking a government shutdown.....

Change every word; “America” or “nation” to “democrat” and the entire thing reads REALLY true and accurate.

If I remember correctly, the outcome of that war was to set the slaves free.

May the outcome from CWII be as victorious for us slaves of the burgeoning, bureaucratic, totalitarian, collectivist federal state.

So he is admitting that he is a Copperhead, and that it’s just better if we all accept slavery as an institution?

Harkin’s decision makes him the third senator up for reelection this cycle to announce his retirement. Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) have both announced they will not seek another term.” - Washington Post - Jan 26, 2013

Both parties are.

Harkin is right. By giving a voice to issues that a great many people care about, and blocking any action, they are running the risk that someone will turn to the third box.

Don't want that, but it is a risk. The NSA/FBI/Homeland boys are much more worried about domestic uprisings than anything going on overseas.

It is a curious choice of words...to come from someone who has spent his productive life in Washington DC. Folks have arrived to question him...the standard of ethic...the lack of character...the inability to control one’s budget...and the general behavior that you’d expect in a Banana Republic (words from our own President this week).

The central theme of the Tea Party is fairly well defined...where exactly does tax revenue come from...how will we control it...and at what point to we dismantle government services and admit they are beyond what we can afford or unnecessary for the nation itself.

You’d think that auditors have arrived at the candy factory, asking for the books, the secret recipe, and tasking the candy factor CEO to show his true financial situation.

I would point to Greece, and the inability of its government to admit problems twenty years ago, and the continual tirade over the past two years as they fell into the pit and demanded that Germany (the only country on the face of the Earth with cash and a will to help)...then acted frustrated every single day as Germany wanted a clean book, revamped priorities on national spending, and cuts across the board. Greece would readily call Germany a modern ‘tea-party’ and curse every single day over the fact that it had screwed up.

Look at cities in California facing judges and grinning as they admit they are bankrupt and want vast new deals be stamped official. Pensions out the door....no standard of conduct...no one going to jail.

Yes, it is a dangerous time...to act comical while your ship sinks ever so slowly.

MAKE DC LISTEN: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE CLOTURE ON H.J. RES 59
We must oppose cloture on H. J. Res. 59, so that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats cannot sneak in funding for Obamacare. We need you to call your Senators right now: tell them to oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59 and remind them that a vote for cloture IS a for funding Obamacare.

“That is the path they see for taking over the government. It’s dangerous, very dangerous. … Every bit as dangerous as the break up and the Civil War.”

What he couldn't bring himself to say, "That is the path the average American citizen sees for taking back their government. For us communists it's dangerous, very dangerous. ... Every bit as dangerous as the break up and the Civil War."

To which I say WRONG... If we the people of this once great country cannot retrieve and revive our government of the people, for the people and by the people from this oligarchy that has been stealing our liberty then the ensuing anarchy will be much worse than the Civil War. But then that's what Harkin, his handlers and his tools are hoping for isn't it?

That is absolutely true. I’ve worked around many Dems and can say with complete confidence that they all deeply FEAR the Tea Party. Dems are used to having their way with the compliant Republicans but the Tea Party fights back.

Like all bullies, the Democrats don’t like it when somebody pushes back on them. They can’t deal with it.
