Poll: Ted Cruz Leads 2016 GOP Field
US News & World Report ^ | 9/27/2013 | Rebekah Metzler

Posted on 09/27/2013 1:48:06 PM PDT by St_Thomas_Aquinas

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is already reaping benefits from his 21-hour stand against President Barack Obama's new health care law, as a new poll shows him leading the way for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

Cruz garnered 20 percent support compared to 17 percent for Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., 14 percent for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, 11 percent for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and 10 percent each for Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., according to a survey by Public Policy Polling released Friday. Cruz improved 8 percent from a similar poll in July.

He’d be, of course, the best candidate we’ve had since Reagan.

I’d be sending money and volunteering for a campaign

That’s gonna hurt.

I guess Krispy Kreme’s secret tactic to use Peter King to slime Cruz backfired.

No more RINOs in the top spot. The GOP should try a winning strategy this time and put forward a conservative as top billing. Glad to see Cruz leading, but there are many RINOs nipping at his heels.

there are many RINOs nipping at his heels.

The trend is very encouraging, though. A couple of weeks ago, the order and numbers were reversed.

Cruz was largely unknown. Now that Republicans know him, they love him.

Too bad for Krispy and Bush. Really. Too, too bad.

Absolutely. This is how evil advances.

I was just talking this over with the wife. I was explaining the parliamentary shenanigans. She said, "You know, those Republicans are worse than the Democrats. At least the Democrats think they're doing the right thing. The Republicans know they're doing the wrong thing, but do it anyway."

Ted Cruz may not win this, but he's fighting for the American people and he's going down swinging. Americans love and respect that.

Watch out for the long knives of the McStain GOP. They'll never allow him to become the nominee. The very same people who are constantly invoking Reagan today did what they're now doing back in the 70s and 80s.

0bama is loving this, he desperately needs some GOP collaborators to grab the tarbaby of 0bamacare. This way when it’s the train wreck we know it will be, the Dems can say it was “bi-partisan”. The GOP it seems is happy to remain a minority party.

These RINOs are arrogant, self-serving, egotistical human debris. Now, we have an issue to energize the base to start our campaigns now to get these traitors out in 2014 and 2016. Every effort needs to be made to organize, find conservative candidates, and get them in office.

It’s going way too far to say the Dims think they’re doing the right thing. You’d have to assume they aren’t skimming a fortune off of our tax dollars through sweetheart deals for their friends, relatives and assorted cronies. But we’ve seen that they are.

Senator Cruz has my vote if he ever runs for the POTUS ... but you just know the establishment GOP is going to deny him funding and moral support ... and then K. Rove and his cronies will get all their media lackeys to vilify him or else dig up some obscure fault he committed when he was 16, thus guaranteeing we get stuck with another RINO establishment loser from the “uniparty” of Republocrats

Ted Cruz may not win this, but he’s fighting for the American people and he’s going down swinging.”

Exactly right.

We’ve had to put up with Dole, McCain and Romney, and both lose the war and lose the message.

Cruz may lose a general election.

But at least he will show the rest of America the path forward.

(That said....I remain optimistic. Maybe there’s enough of “us” out there. We just have to be stirred!).

This is why there are tracking polls. The trend is very positive. Plus...

21 hours is a long time to make a reasonable appraisal.
