Shift in policy? Phone call between Obama, Rouhani (president of Iran)
CNN ^ | Sept 27, 2013 | Chelsea J. Carter

Posted on 09/27/2013 3:25:23 PM PDT by Innovative

President Barack Obama spoke by telephone with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the first direct conversation between leaders of the United States and Iran since 1979.

Obama believes a comprehensive agreement is possible regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions, telling reporters at the White House that "the test will be meaningful, transparent and verifiable action" and if proven would ease international sanctions in place against Iran.

The news of the historic telephone conversation between the two presidents also played out on Twitter in Rouhani's posts. It was unclear whether Rouhani was retweeting direct messages between the two or curating his conversation on Twitter.

Interesting. I did not know that a sunni from indonesia would speak farsi. Very interesting. If true.

Bells and sirens if they agree upon a seven year peace treaty.
But, everything is in God’s time. Not satan’s time.

Where did you get the idea that O spoke in Farsi? I did not read that (may have missed it). I suppose The One could have taken Farsi lessons between golf outings.

His CIA director is a Muslim.

I caught that, too. I remember Obama saying a long time ago he was not bilingual. Something else he lied about?

It was in the news that he did use ONE Farsi word — I don’t know what it meant — he was just trying to show “camaraderie” to Iran’s president...

Thanks Innovative.

The ideal outcome would be face to face talks between the two “leaders”, during which a wahhabi / salafist / (fill in the blank from the pro-Iranian playbook) jihadist suicide bomber blows both of them to bits.

I’d be headed for Disneyworld if that happened.

It may be that someone whispered in his ear something to say. I caught it on Blitzer’s show.

I guess it could be in the same vein as Kennedy at the Berlin Wall. The thing about it is nothing would surprise me about this slime.

The two men talked through interpreters, but the tweet from @HassanRouhani said they ended by signing off in each other’s language. “In a phone conversation b/w #Iranian & #US Presidents just now: @HassanRouhani: ‘Have a Nice Day!’ @BarackObama: ‘Thank you. Khodahafez,’” the tweet said, quoting Obama as using the Farsi word for good-bye.

Obama believes a comprehensive agreement is possible regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions,

The word "comprehensive" should raise red flags.

I think Iran realizes that Obama and others in Washington are doing more damage to America than they could ever hope to do.

It’s pure window dressing. A chat between two members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

It is awful what is happening, I only served one hitch in the Navy but that was in the early sixties. In the seventies I serviced printing equipment on some military bases and discipline was already far more lax than in my time. With what is going on now if any young person should ask I would tell them to have nothing to do with today’s military. I am very glad that I volunteered and have often said that the Navy did for me many times over what I ever did for the Navy but it is a different story now. The idea that recruits in boot camp cannot be made to follow orders sounds like science fiction to someone from my time. I know that Navy boot camp was far easier than Marine or even Army boot camp but it was not a walk in the park in 1962. You did as you were told or you were sent home in disgrace and you might spend some time in a cell before you went home in disgrace. Of course it was a lot easier to make a young boy of my generation feel disgraced, I have a niece who literally deserted from her first duty station after Army boot camp and it was two years before the Sheriff’s department came for her and then they kept her for one week at Fort Knox and turned her loose again. In my day they would have sent Marines to fetch me and I would have done a hitch in prison.

“We, the German Führer and Chancellor, and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today and are agreed in recognizing that the question of Anglo-German relations is of the first importance for two countries and for Europe.

“We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again.

“We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries, and we are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe.”
Chamberlain read this statement to a cheering crowd in front of 10 Downing St. and said;

“My good friends this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace in our time.”

The difference is that chamberlain was naive and trusting. It IS hard to fathom such an evil as hitler.
obama has no such excuse, His allegiance was sworn during his training in Pakistan and he has worked towards that goal ever since.
He has handed over Afghanistan and Iraq to iran and iran is the reason he was so extraordinarily reticent about removing assad.
I might also point out to the people who think that iran and al qaeda are at odds with each other, that bin laden sent his family for asylum to iran and zawahiri travels between iran and pakistan at will and is even honored in iran.
Nothing is ever as it seems in the ME and even when it becomes more than obvious, people STILL don’t undertand what they are seeing with their own eyes because they have been so deft at propaganda and confusing issues or making it up as they go.

The news of the historic telephone conversation between the two presidents... I guess having another country's top dog diss an American prez for a face-to-face, then having the American prez beg for an audience via phone is historic, in a very sad way.

BINGO!

He is deliberately perpetrating “the big lie” — nobody can believe that he is on the side of the enemy, so they don’t even consider that possibility, they listen to his words, instead of believing what they see with their own eyes, that every single one of his actions is done to our detriment.

“The Big Lie

Techniques > Propaganda > The Big Lie

Method

Make a claim that is so outrageous that people will assume that it cannot be a lie, and so accept it as truth.

Strongly assert the lie. Massage available data to ‘prove’ the lie as being true. Reframe vigorous denial as proof of guilt.
