Yes, he has, and he just did again tonight, on national TV (Greta/FOX). Greta asked him about his plan that the House send over to the Senate the individual funding bills for the government, starting with the military, then follow them one by one, with additional bills. Then the House is funding the government, branch by branch, and if Reid wants to deny funding to government, starting with the Defense Department, then that's on him, not the House.
Have you not been keeping up? You seem awfully critical of Cruz, considering you didn't know the basic aspects of his suggestions to the House. Whether the House follows through is another thing, but Cruz's plan seems sound to me. FWIW Greta said it seemed solid to her as well.
That’s not a bad plan, either. Start sending them over one by one. Let the Dems vote them down, but won’t they just reattach Obamacare and we end up here again?
Instead late Monday night send a clean bill over, one that funds everything, but Obamacare. Let the Senate vote again on Tuesday. Then it will be the Dems fault.
The House needs to play up that angle. We need a budget, Senate. Where is it?
That's his job.
To beat up on Dingy for 'hoHouse's myriad deficiencies.
Great point, but the average American simply cannot comprehend the egos of our Senators. When a Senator looks in the mirror he sees a President.
Agreed.
Reince Prebus is no Lee Atwater....
They've already done that, so not much to gain there. If they don't follow Cruz's plan to send the individual funding bills over one at at time, they might as well follow the normal process - take the House bill to defund Obamacare and the Senate bill to fund it into conference, and split the difference down the middle. That way, theoretically at least, you could immediately un-fund 50% of Obama care, which might be a stake in the heart anyway.
Golden Eagle: “...his plan that the House send over to the Senate the individual funding bills for the government, starting with the military, then follow them one by one, with additional bills.”
Senator Cruz could have done that right off without going through this whole cloture rigamarole. He could have still given his 21+ hour speech against Obamacare. He didn’t need to vote against cloture.
Senator Cruz seems like a great guy, but you seem to think it’s wrong to question him. BTW, you act as though individual bills was Senator Cruz’s plan all along. I know Pat Buchanan proposed doing that. Are you certain Senator Cruz was saying this was next step all along, like before the cloture vote, or is this just his new plan?
I do miss Lee. He was taken from us way too soon.
I don’t see the bill by bill method working.
Here’s another article about Senator Cruz. In this one, he’s leading a plan to get a one year delay on Obamacare. So which is it? Are they going to submit a new comprehensive bill with an Obamacare delay or are they going to submit individual funding packages? Before you start claiming I’m not keeping up with the plan, maybe you should ask why the grand plan seems to be evolving.
Could it be possible that Senator Cruz’s approach to cloture was wrongheaded to start with. As I wrote, cloture or no cloture, he still had an opportunity to give his 20+ hour speech, which was a great rallying cry for conservatives. I’m glad he’s fighting. I’m glad others are fighting, too. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with everything he’s done.
yes. This is a continuing resolution attached to an increase to the debt limit which will allow Obama to give away more free stuff before the 2014s. Our guess is that this will pass and the budget will stall and another CR will pass unceremoniously before a long weekend.
No, Senator Cruz could not have done this, as that is a House responsibility, not an individual Senator's ability or right. You're not increasing my confidence you actually understand how this works.
Senator Cruz seems like a great guy, but you seem to think its wrong to question him.
No, I just found it rather peculiar that you were criticizing him, for not having a plan or thinking it through, when it's turned out you've just not really been listening to what his suggested actions were.
Are you certain Senator Cruz was saying this was next step all along, like before the cloture vote, or is this just his new plan?
It's been his plan all along, just as Greta said tonight. In fact, here's a link from 7 days ago, although I must admit my mind is already wondering what you'll find wrong now:
Really? Where?
Could it be possible that Senator Cruzs approach to cloture was wrongheaded to start with.
How so? He's got the American people fully involved, smoked out the liberal Republicans in the Senate, and as it stands right now, the House could go ahead and send the 2 separate bills to conference, and when they negotiate the difference (0% funding vs. 100% funding), Obamacare funding could be cut in half (50%).
I know this is a lot for you to digest, and no one knows if the House will fumble this opportunity away now, but as of tonight they are in a strong position. Much better than than just agreeing to fund Obamacare 100% last week, which seems to be your suggested course of action.
Play tennis. Strip out the funding. Send it back.
Damn right. There’s nothing difficult about it. Americans hate Obamacare.
Really? Why not?
And no comment on why the House shouldn't just go ahead and cash in the wins so far, by sending the 2 separate bills to conference, whereby they split the difference and Obamacare looses 50% of funding? The only drawback to that seems to be government might shut down for a few days while that takes place, but is that really a loss in the grand scheme, compared to possibly putting a stake in the heart of Obamacare?
-— Just saw Peter King on OReilly. Hes pissed at Cruz, says Cruz knew all along he couldnt win so he wasnt sincere in trying.
So I guess Cruz was supposed to know the fix was in and fall in line according to this creep. -—
That’s exactly what he means.
If the wheeper folds, he is toast. Self preservation will rule the day. The Senate has painted themselves into a corner with the WH clown fraud.
