On Friday, I joined members of both parties in supporting a key procedural motion - known as "invoking cloture" - to prevent a stalemate in the Senate that could have led to a government shutdown. Had this vote not succeeded, debate in the Senate would have come to a halt - making it harder to prevent a government shutdown.
As you know, I fully support defunding, repealing and replacing Obamacare. I outlined the negative impact this law is having on New Hampshire in a speech on the Senate floor this week. In that speech, I also stated my view that shutting down the government is not an effective strategy that will successfully stop the law - it simply won't work. Obamacare would keep going and we would harm the nation. I also discussed these concerns in a television interview on Friday morning.
While I voted in favor of moving the House-passed bill forward, I opposed an amendment introduced by Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) to add Obamacare funding into the House-passed spending legislation (frequently referred to as the "continuing resolution.") Repealing this law was one of the reasons I ran for the Senate, and I've voted in favor of full repeal and have helped introduce legislation to roll back its most onerous provisions - including the Medical Device Tax, which stands to harm New Hampshire medical device manufacturers.
It's unfortunate that the continuing resolution that was passed by the Senate Democrats breaks the law and exceeds by $20 billion the spending limits enacted two years ago. This is no way to run a government, with short-term spending bills rather than a fiscally responsible budget for the nation. With over $17 trillion in debt, I voted against breaking the budget caps. We must find a way to fund worthy priorities without breaking the law and busting the budget caps, and I will continue my efforts to do so. As this bill returns to the House, I hope we can resolve these issues and keep the government running.

And yet—despite all the handwringing—she’s not willing to do anything to stop it and therefore votes with Harry Reid, Patrick Leahy, and Elizabeth Warren to end debate so that Dirty Harry can strip out the ObummerCare defunding provision and therefore pass the CR she says she opposes with only Dhimm votes.

STOP letting Obama walk all over you! The greatest power the House has is the power of the budget - don't let Obama bypass the House on this as he has everything else! Please don't lose this chance to send the same CR back to the Senate and tell that sniveling little wimp Harry Reid - NO COMPROMISE on this then adjourn the House and let dingy Harry,Obama and the Rinos in the Senate either sign the bill or shut down the government. There is nothing to discuss. RINO, SENATOR, KELLY AYOTTE voted with twenty-four other RINOs to full fund Obamacare, period!!! You know the old saying...No Guts, No Glory!!! Senator Ayotte is naught but a whimp traitor to the American people, and the people of New Hampshire!!! I posted something similar on Graham’s Facebook and it was removed! I blasted Graham and think he should resign. All my posts were removed — which now means I wouldn’t vote for Graham if there was a gun pointed at my head.
Kelley and every other Senator knows a shutdown will happen. The Democrats have boxed the Pubbies in a corner. Damned if they do...damned if they don’t. These cowardly GOP Senators just wanted to make sure the House got the blame.
If they had followed Cruz and left the heat on the Senate then at least the Senate would have been blamed for the shutdown with some of the heat falling on their leader Dingy Harry.

Anything the House sends to the Senate will now be tabled. The Senate will insist they have already voted and the hot potatoe and blame stays with Boehner.

As I told her in my email to her yesterday, it is obvious that New Hampshire's Senators are both DemocRATS. Senator Shaheen as the honesty to admit it. Ayotte belongs to the McCain Wing of the RAT Party.

I am praying the house will send back a bill that funds the government AND requires all federal employees, including congress and their staffs and the entire supreme court to participate in the exchanges as long as the bill exists.
