A simple fact is missing from all the media hysteria and political establishment temper tantrums over Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lees attempt to defund Obamacare.
Americans are getting slammed by Obamacare. Workforces are decimated as health care prices rise. Public opinion is on our side. If now was not the time to unite and fight it, when was? Those who are attacking Cruz and Lees efforts have forgotten how negotiations are won.
Use as an example the negotiations a governor of energy-rich Alaska must engage in with powerful multinational oil tycoons. In my experience, I found that the key to achieving success for the people youre elected to serve is to take a firm position, stand solid, and negotiate from there when the other guy is ready to take you seriously. You fight as hard as you can with whatever small edge youve got until the other guy respects you enough to wise up, sit down, and come to a mutually acceptable agreement. You get nothing at all if you preemptively surrender before the battle even commences.
Imagine how much stronger the GOPs hand would have been if every Republican (and those Democrats whove finally admitted Obamacares devastating flaws) stood together against cloture in order to prevent Harry Reid from cutting off debate and stripping Obamacare defunding from the bill?
But Republicans got nothing from squabbling with each other and denouncing the brave men who tried to do something.
Ted Cruz and Mike Lee fought to fulfill the campaign promises every Republican made, and their actions have been revelatory for all of us.
Unfortunately, the message of some politicians today seems to be: Whoopsie, seems I cant fulfill my election promises, but vote for me again and I promise to do what I promised last time.

SP ping.
Mrs. Palin, if the count of elected GOP person falls to two in the near future, I’d be just fine with that.
Open Season on RINOs in 2014!

Like I have said, no one, Not Sarah Palin, Not Ted Cruz can save us if we are not willing to save ourselves.
It is not "Their" Country to save, it is ours, it is We who must keep it.
The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance and if I may add: Eternal Involvement in our Nations Governance.
Does this flushing include McCain, Mrs. Palin?
When the heck was it ever wrong in America in complaining about cable service, bad government or anything else?
Oh yeah, ever since the hate crime laws and the fags who cannot be criticized.
MacCain needs to come out the closet, he is gayer than his fat daughter.
She’s right of course. Even if you don’t get everything you want you still get more by standing tall than you do by rolling over and whimpering.
Thanks Col Freeper. You got the pictures right on.
All of the Republican senators should have backed Senator Cruz’s and Senator Lee’s attempt. However, I’m not ready to write them all off because of it. Some went farther than simply voting for cloture. Some of them actually attacked Senator Cruz. That’s simply unacceptable. Make those conflicts private, senators! Don’t provide aid and comfort to our enemy on the Senate floor!
My senators are Inhofe and Coburn. Coburn voted for cloture. Inhofe did not. I know some (most) FReepers now believe Coburn is a traitor, but Coburn has always been a reliable vote against big government. Now I think Inhofe did the right thing by standing with Cruz, but I don’t agree that Coburn is a RINO and a traitor simply because he disagreed with Cruz (and Inhofe) and voted for cloture.
Sarah is right on. It seems almost impossible to convince Republicans to quit tearing down their own. The exception is RINOs that are really communists Democrats. The communists Democrats are socialists that work to control all economic and personal life and commit the control to their political power structure, King Obama. In other words Democrats are communists. We are controlled by this communists party and freedom does not exist in that environment.
Dems stick together. One has to hand it to them on that. They stick to the party line.
This is why IMO I think McPain IS of the other side. He sticks with the Democrat Party line.
Sarah is already right where she's needed, we need to cull the RINOs and GOP-E permanently before anything else, even if it means the permanent destruction of the Republican party.
Traitors will always cost us victory as long a they are among us.
She needs to cut the ties between Her and John Mcain. He is a politcal anchor around her sweet neck. We need to stomp these Rinos out of existence ASAP!!!. They are far worse than a Democrat simply becuase they are the enemy inside the gate.
Also true is we do need a plan or a discussion as how to go about it. We each are a small fish in a huge puddle; and there are already a few very big fish in this puddle with us.
We do need a leader or leaders for the organization, direction, and implementation of winning ideas in a coherent manner.
We have a few that inspire us and perhaps encourages us to do our damn est!!
Your comments make no sense.
A vote for cloture was a vote for funding Obamacare and for vastly expanding government.
It would be raw meat for us, maybe in private, but you get a sense her parents didn't raise her that way.
It hit me today, we are dealing with what I call "The East German Republicans"...
We have a bunch denying us Liberty and holding us back with a wall of Establishmentarianism.
We want to be freed from them.
We need Sarah Palin to say, "Mr Boehner and Mr McConnell tear down this Wall..."
And she has been saying that from the start: you don’t need a title to make a difference.
Cruz, Lee, Paul, and a few others are in there doing the job for us. The rest need to be dumped.
Hostage: “A vote for cloture was a vote for funding Obamacare and for vastly expanding government.”
You’re simply deeming that to be true, but 44 Republican Senators voted AGAINST the Senate Democrat’s bill to restore Obamacare funding. It may not be the approach you prefer, but they did NOT vote to fund Obamacare.
jonrick46: “Why don’t you agree that Coburn is a RINO and a traitor?”
I think I explained that. Senator Coburn is a reliable vote against big government. You may not like it that he voted for cloture, but he also voted against the Senate’s bill to fund Obamacare. I have zero doubt that he’ll continue to vote against Obamacare. I only hope we can elect enough conservatives to join him so that that vote can actually achieve the desired aim.
You may not like the approach Senator Coburn and others took, but 44 Republican senators actually voted against funding Obamacare. Senator Cruz was hoping they would take his approach, but they disagreed. I don’t think that was wise, because it would have been better to show party unity. Nevertheless, they did, in fact, vote against funding Obamacare.
As I pointed out (poorly) in my earlier post, this doesn’t excuse senators like McCain who went well beyond simply disagreeing with Senator Cruz. Senate Majority Leader Reid was positively giddy to get McCain at the podium so that McCain could denounce Cruz’s attempt. It wasn’t enough to simply vote for cloture, McCain had to attack a fellow Republican on the Senate floor. He made it personal.
So I have no doubt that Senator Coburn will continue to vote against Obamacare. If we ever give Republicans a majority again in the Senate, then we’ll see who really is on our side. Frankly, I don’t trust McCain to be the 51st vote to defund Obamacare if it comes down to it. Coburn, on the other hand, will do the right thing.
And with the republican leadership wanting to push for a 1 year delay that will give democrats cover for the next election let’s us know who the really support
Obviously you haven’t been listening or you fail to understand.
Ted Cruz revealed the trick used by the old guard in the senate. Vote for cloture allowed Reid to strike out the defund provision in the CR and pass it with only 51 votes.
So corrupt republican senators knew that they could vote for cloture and then vote against the senate CR version and go home and say they voted against funding Obamacare. But they knew that with only 51 votes needed to pass the senate CR, that Obamacare would be funded. They knew this and they think the voters are too stupid to know this trick. But Ted Cruz has alerted millions of how senators use procedural rules to hide their true intent.
They allowed Reid to fund Obamacare. THEY ALLOWED IT BY VOTING FOR CLOTURE!
And then they act as if they washed their hands of it when they vote against the senate CR that Reid put together without further amendment except his own.
Don’t try to tell Freepers that those republican members of the senate who voted for cloture were unaware they were permitting Obamacare to be funded. It was posted here hundreds upon hundreds of times, it was observed countless times and explained by Ted Cruz and others over and over again so that millions upon millions of conservatives understood this sleight of hand.
McConnell himself voted for cloture to set up a vote on Obamacare in 2010. And now he is facing a tough, very tough primary opponent. That’s the way it should be and that’s the way it is.
The 25 republican senators who voted for cloture are listed and identified. Many if not most of them will be primaried.
Any Senator that voted for cloture voted to fund Obamacare.
