Vanity- Draft Tom Delay for the Senate!

Posted on 09/28/2013 7:32:08 AM PDT by TexasBarak

Since John Cornyn voted for cloture (I haven't seen definite news on this, so someone correct me if I'm wrong) despite the expressed wishes of his constituents- and there is still time to file to run against him in a primary....

Since Tom Delay no longer has the cloud of political prosecution hanging over his head....

Let's ask Tom Delay to file in the primary against John Cornyn so that we can have *two* articulate, conservative, and *effective* senators from Texas!

Do you think running against Cornyn is a lost cause?”

Why would it ever be a lost cause to fight for what you feel is right? Might be a good thing to ensure that Cornyn is not able to get at least 50 percent of the votes and then force him into a runoff against one candidate that Conservatives come together to fight for. Happened with Cruz. Can happen with Cornyn.

The trouble is that his opponents will use his past troubles against him. The attacks will be unrelenting. Never mind the issues. The ad campaigns will focus solely on his past. The low information voter will eat it up. They won’t care about the real issues.

If he does run, he had better have a great (not good) campaign manager and a relentless PR staff. He has to focus the voters on what’s important.

No matter who runs on the conservative side, they aren't going to get good press. I agree with the need for a campaign staff, but the candidate sets the tone, and I believe that he could pull it off.

Why? Do they need help organizing their lobbyist money? K Street payments slowed down?

So are you saying that the man should not have been doing his (perfectly legal) job in using (perfectly legal) campaign money to help other republican candidates get elected?

Surely a state of 26,000,000 people can find someone more qualified to be a senator than a man who already spent 21 years in Congress and whose major accomplishment was streamlining the bribery process.

Just because Ronnie Earle was a scumbucket DA doesn’t mean Tom Delay is a saint. Once again, Surely a state of 26,000,000 people can find a better senator than a guy who spent 21 years in Congress already and whose major achievement was helping get more Republican cronies jobs on K Street.
