“And if that happens, won’t the insurance companies go bankrupt?”

That’s the plan. Obama has been driving up the costs for insurance companies, forcing them to raise premiums. And now he’ll begin to offer subsidized obamacare health insurance through the exchanges.

The private insurance companies won’t be able to compete with that and will go out of business.

The endgame is a full government takeover of healthcare. And then they will manage costs by withholding treatment through the panels (aka death panels).

I thought the “exchanges” offered policies from insurance companies.

Are you saying they are direct with the fedgov?

Some policies are doubling and tripling in premiums, this is not because of competition but because of government taking that money and spending it on those deemed more worthy of healthcare.

Great; now I have a mental image of John Boehner, sticking his tongue out, twerking in front of Obama.

Thanks.

The House should just submit a bill and tell the Zero King to sign it or not and stop having Ol’ Batty Harry running interference for the occupant in the WH. Then do what Reid did: announce any bill funding ZeroCare from the Senate is DOA in the House.

Exactly.

If Obamacare goes through as planned, all those healthy people have to buy insurance (or pay a fine). That’s where the private insurance companies get the money to cover the sick people.

You may be right that it’s bad for the private companies in the long run, but at leas they get some new revenue in, so their demise takes a while.

With the House plan, the effects are immediate. During the one-year delay of the mandate, companies get new applications from people who didn’t buy health insurance before. The healthy ones still don’t buy it, but the people who’ve been in car accidents or whose kidneys gave out will AT THAT TIME sign up for insurance, for which they can’t be denied.

The insurance companies will be paying those bills but without the revenue from the individual mandate.

It seems to me that the House bill would kill all the private companies during that one-year period, leaving no alternative but the government takeover.

What am I missing?

I agree. Delaying the real defunding vote for a year gives the dems plenty of time to gear up for the fight. It also gives zer0bama a whole year to cheat on implementation, getting it up & running under the funding radar by stealing funds from other programs. Within 1 year, he will present the house with a fait accompli of a stealth-administered obamacare product.

If 800,000 federal workers did not show up for work, who would notice? Probably no one — except the MSM.

It also gives the press a year to build hate for the GOP and hype up the sheeple.

Ditto on your post....there is probably a great deal that has been preplanned.

Its the communist way - like the 5 year plans.

For each year US plans, the others plans 5.

Now that is a visualization I'd rather avoid.

I am 59. I remember spending the night with my great-grandmother when I was 5. She had 8 children. I was in bed while she changed into her nightgown .

I know what teats streaming down look like. It's ain't purty. It is still burned in my brain after 54 years. Now I have boners face on my great grandmother's body trying to find a permanent home in my brain. God help me!

You write, “i thought the fines were Supreme Court approved taxes going to the US Treasury?”

I think you’re right that any fines go to the Treasury. The assumption is that quite a few of those people, however, will find that buying the insurance (especially with a partial subsidy) is better than paying the fine. If the individual mandate is not delayed, then a lot of healthy people will choose to write checks to the insurance companies.

BUT if the individual mandate is delayed while the ban on excluding pre-existing conditions goes into effect, then people have a different option: Don’t buy a policy and don’t pay the fine. Many of those healthy people will choose that option, doing without the insurance until they need it. It’s the smart move, right? If you find out you’ll need expensive medical care, buy the insurance then and get it paid for. The insurer can’t turn you down.

I understand what the House is trying to do but it could blow up in their faces.

Back in the good old days, when Johnny married Janie, and she got in a motherly way, that's when "they needed it".

Now, thanks to Murphy Brown and the commieRATs, Johnny knocks up Janie, and she goes on welfare for the rest of her life...he lives with her on section 8 and sells drugs...no insurance required.

If you find out you’ll need expensive medical care, buy the insurance then and get it paid for. The insurer can’t turn you down.

That's exactly the case in a "guaranteed issue" state, like Maine.

1% of the insured make 50% of the claims. That 1% would be in the high risk pool, in a state that has its head screwed on straight.
