The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — or Obamacare for short — has already refunded about $630,000 in health insurance premiums during the past two years to Pueblo city employees and the city’s general fund.
But Marisa Pacheco, the city’s human resources director, says those refund days are likely over, and in the future, starting in 2015, the federal health care mandate will cost the city an extra $400,000 a year to help pay for increasing the size of the national health insurance safety net. “Right now, the law is an ever-shifting program and it’s hard to say for certain when portions will take effect,” Pacheco said recently. “But there are costs we know will be there in the future.”

Insurance programs that are well-paid and provide extensive coverage can fall into a category called “Cadillac plans” in the not-so-distant future. Under Obamacare, if a family insurance program costs more than $27,000 a year in 2018, that family could have to pay an additional 40 percent excise tax on that policy. Pacheco said that currently a family plan for a city employee is about $22,800 a year. “But it probably wouldn’t take too many years before city insurance was considered a Cadillac plan unless the threshold is raised,”

Probably going to see a lot of repercussions and reports popping up everywhere about how unaffordable the Affordable Healthcare Act in the coming months as they find out this was never really about providing healthcare but more about controlling and monitoring citizens and creating a healthcare monopoly that will result in the creation of an enormous fund they can raid and rape all over again like they did with Social Security.
