Oscar-winning film director Charles Ferguson cancelled his CNN documentary on Hillary Clinton after a private campaign against the film by prominent Democrats.
Ferguson decided to pull the plug after being met with a wall of silence from more than a hundred people who refused to be interviewed for the documentary.
Aides to the former secretary of state put pressure on CNN behind the scenes, and made clear that Clinton would only co-operate "over my dead body". He also blamed a public campaign by Republicans.
"Neither political party wanted the film made," said Ferguson in an article for the Huffington Post. "After painful reflection, I decided that I couldn't make a film of which I would be proud. And so I'm cancelling."
Ferguson claimed that Clinton's spokesman, Philippe Reines, "interrogated" various executives at CNN about the documentary before it was announced by the broadcaster in July.
"Not Democrats, not Republicans and certainly nobody who works with the Clintons, wants access to the Clintons, or dreams of a position in a Hillary Clinton administration.
"Not even journalists who want access, which can easily be taken away. I even sensed potential difficulty in licensing archival footage from CBN (Pat Robertson) and from Fox. After approaching well over a hundred people, only two people who had ever dealt with Mrs Clinton would agree to an on-camera interview, and I suspected that even they would back out."
"This did not surprise me. What did surprise me was that, quietly and privately, prominent Democrats made it known both to CNN and to me that they weren't delighted with the film either," said Ferguson.
Ferguson said he contacted several prominent Democrats following public criticism of his film by David Brock, the journalist and founder of the research group Media Matters for America.

I’m a bit surprised, because I thought Hill’s people were behind this. Evidently not.
The propagandists in Hollywood can make a star out of anyone. But Hill would be a bit of a problem. According to the left, she is the smartest, most accomplished, most famous, and most popular woman in the world. The only problem is that she’s never actually done anything. How do you make a documentary film out of that?
I guess they’d find a way. But it wouldn’t be easy.
Not unexpected that people would not want to be involved in legal wranglings and other “contractual” issues ...
Perhaps this is simple prudence on the part of some.
Say the wrong thing and end up taking a nap in Ft. Marcy Park.
Bottom line though is that the Clintons won't trust anyone other than themselves when it comes to producing a documentary about the Hildebeast.
“Either those 100 people have nothing good to say about her, or they’re afraid of being implicated in another Clinton scandal.”
OR they are afraid of being eliminated ala Vince Foster —Arkancide.
"Reminds me of a fascinating quote from a Chinese Com government during the "International Woman's Conference" held in China during the Clinton administration.
The government official said that they studied Hillary's speechmaking method to understand her power and success. They concluded: her trick was never actually to make any arguments -- just state conclusions that were all already accepted as self-evident by her audience. (They found that interesting and perhaps admirable, and to be emulated)."
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !
Doesn't that suggest an endless source of material for anyone who runs against her?
AT THIS POINT, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE??!!
Charles Ferguson
“I still believe Mrs Clinton has many virtues including great intelligence, fortitude, and a deep commitment to bettering the lives of women and children worldwide.”
What a fool!
“Mrs. Clinton” has a deep commitment to bettering the lives of Clintons, specifically hers, period.
