The latest GOP compromise on defunding Obamacare may well lead to a midterm massacre.
During a crucial battle of the military campaign that ultimately propelled him to supreme power in Rome, Julius Caesar put himself and his outnumbered army in such a vulnerable position that he briefly considered suicide. He and most of his troops survived, however, because the man commanding the opposing force was too timid to take a tactical risk. Afterward, surprised to find himself alive and his army relatively intact, Caesar made an observation that the leadership of the GOP would do well to remember: Today the enemy would have won, if they had a commander who was a winner.
I was reminded of those words when I heard Senator Ted Cruz tell Rush Limbaugh that, in the Republican Conference, We dont even talk about winning a fight they dont believe we can win. This defeatism has not been lost on the GOPs conservative base, which has been waiting with increasing impatience for the party to do something anything about Obamacare. Sadly, the Republicans cant shake off their pessimism long enough to permanently defund that pernicious program. The result may well be that the voters who restored them to the House majority in 2010 will sit out the 2014 midterms.
This contradicts the conventional Beltway wisdom, of course. The same geniuses who told us in 2012 that Mitt Romney should get the GOP presidential nomination because he was electable now assure us that the voters will punish the Republicans if they defund Obamacare and force a partial government shutdown. In fact, Romney himself did an interview last Friday in which he articulated the self-defeating diffidence of the Republican establishment:

Look for a HUGH blowback in 2014.
I expect the Democrats to own the entire government after 2014. Then things will really happen.
Who posts this gibberish! Last time the GOP gained seats....this is a BS story!
you forgot your sarcasm tag
Man you must be a troll..if anything we will gain seats!
I am sick of it and will not do it again!!!
Even Sarah Palin could remove the stench from MeCain. And remember is was MeCain's campaign manager Steve Schmidt that put her down every chance he got. ..and still does as of last week.
In 2010, the GOP did not go out of the way to alienate their base as they are doing this time.
You may disagree, but I am no troll. I'm a Conservative and I do not vote for Liberals.
You can’t be SERIES!!
The Karl Roves of the world did such a thorough job with the gerrymandering after 2010, I doubt this will happen.
Still I have no incentive to pull myself away from grass cutting, fishing, or reruns of Storage Wars to go out and vote for Republicans.
They won’t own the red states...
I see a lot of conservatives running and bucking the GOP-e.
Having the dems in charge will only do further damage to our country. I will vote GOP if I am voting for a Cruz or a Paul or a Palin.
To surrender without a fight is insane. I refuse to surrender. You had better join those taking our party and our country back otherwise you will have Pelosi and Reid and Obama forever after
Obamas phone call to the Iranian talking head is just another distraction to keep Congress from defunding Obamacare.
As usual, the 24/7 Media falls for it hook-line-and-sinker.
On the list of future distractions from defunding Obamacare are meetings with various Heads of State in DC and China.
MAKE DC LISTEN: TELL YOUR SENATORS, ESPECIALLY THE DEMOCRATS !

Obama has found it very easy to advance his narrow ideological agenda of failure-prone Marxism.
4 years after Obama conned his Democrats into passing the Federal takeover of the cash cow of Medical Insurance, the PC, Doormat Republicans are finally timidly suggesting defunding that Federal takeover.
Without the weak, PC, Doormat Republicans Boehner and McConnell being stupidly kept in their respective leadership positions by truly cowardly House and Senate Members, Obama Medical Insurance Care Takeover would have been defunded long ago.
The primal yearning of the 47 % who pay no personal Federal Income tax is to belong to a tribe where all of their choices are dictated to them by their arrogant tribal leader.
This a common trait of those who have low self-esteem.
In that sense, Obamanation is truly a cult: low self-esteem people believing everything their cult leader tells them, no questions asked.
Freedom is defined in the dictionary as follows:
1.) Exemption or liberation from slavery or imprisonment.
3.) Liberty of choice or action.
Most of the 47 % riding in the free wagon seek out slavery, and lack of personal choice.
They thus feel safe, and secure in the knowledge that this is as bad as it is going to get.
Liberty is defined in the dictionary as follows:
1.) The state of being exempt from the domination of others or from restricting circumstances; freedom.
5.) The power of voluntary choice: freedom from necessity.
6.) Individual Liberty: Freedom from restraint in the performance of rights outside of government control.
Most people who are getting a free ride in the wagon where 47 % pay no personal Federal Income Taxes, are terrified of making a voluntary choice.
The 47 % would prefer that they be under government control where the choices are made for him.
All of this societal wussiness has made it very easy for B. Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, to advance his narrow ideological agenda of European-style, failure-prone, Marxism in spite of PC, Doormat Republican token opposition.
BTW, unlike taxes, Federal Obama care Insurance charges can be increased EVERY YEAR to whatever % the present and future arrogant leaders of Obamanation wants.
BTW, BTW, the free-loading 47 % will always vote for the Candidate for POTUS approved by Obamanation.
The question to be asked is: If it is in the Nations best interest to shut down the Government, then why are there only TWO Federal Politicians, Obama and Reid, loudly advocating shutting down the US Federal Government?
Obama has MANY reasons to shutdown the Federal Government such as:
1.) A headline grabbing story that will distract attention from the Impeachable scandals of:
Benghazi Massacre Dereliction of Duty by Obama as CIC;
Obamacare Insurance managed by the corrupt IRS;
IRS harassment of political opponents of Obama;
Use of the NSA by Obama to spy on everybody in the USA;
2.) The use of fear of a shutdown might help to protect defunding and eventual abolishment of Obamas narrowly focused ideological agenda of an European-style, failure-prone, Marxist, monopoly of the US Medical Insurance Industry.
3.) Spreading fear and blame might also preserve Obamas power to increase Obamacare Insurance premiums on an annual basis.
*This would be highly advantageous to Obama as the increase in mandatory insurance premiums would not be a tax, as the unexpected market conditions would be given as the reason for the increase.
*Also there would be no need to ask for the Advice and Consent of Congress, as the IRS would be in complete control of all income and medical records.
4.) The last reason is the most important for Obama, personally: America would at last no longer be a Nation where the Liberty to choose ones own family destiny could ever exist again.
As for Reid, the best guess I have is that he wants a Government Monopoly of the Medical Insurance Industry. Well, to be fair, Reid calls for a single payer system.
My suspician is that multi-millionaire Reid, nearing Federal retirement, owns a lot of stock in some companies that are tied to a single payer system.
Maybe the NSA, or the IRS can find out for us?
Im going to ask my US Senator from TEXAS, The Esteemed Senator John To Hell with my voters Cornyn to check on this for me - - - .
2014 will be a lot less of a disaster than the 2016 TOTUS replacement contest should the GOPe stick to their losing ways.
Time to just post a link.
The GOP has little to do with any losses in Congress. 0bama's agencies determine who loses their seats.
Some of us were there a decade ago.
That’s because they want a NEW base. And you and I ain’t it.
A hugh blowback? Hugh Hewitt will be glad.
Both Hugh and Series!
What kind of seats will we gain?
If we gain what we have now we have nothing.
How will we gain seats if the Republicans in Congress now sell us out.
I know I am not ready to vote for any more Republican chicken Shiites. IF we cannot get Conservatives we need to Primary the incumbent trash. Some of those we primary may lose.
Certainly I would like to see more republicans and hope they gain seats, but if they don’t do any better job than they have been doing screw them.
Majority of Senate Republicans Cave on Obamacare Funding
Republicans could have stopped the funding of Obamacare dead in its tracks, but the following Obamacare-supporting Republican Senators ignored the will of the American people and caved when it really mattered:
Alexander (up for re-election in 2014)
Cochran (up for re-election in 2014)
Collins (up for re-election in 2014)
Cornyn (up for re-election in 2014)
Graham (up for re-election in 2014)
McConnell (up for re-election in 2014)
Two Republican senators did not vote:
As the law authorizing President Obama to spend more money on Obamacare expires this Monday, it is up to the House to make the final stand. As Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution requires, all spending bills in Congress must originate in the House. Therefore, funding of Obamacare cannot happen without Republican support.
Slow learner, I am.
You can’t be series???
We need to support the Rs that stood with the American people...go after the traitors but help those that are taking a stand.
I blast the GOPe every chance I get but also show support to those earning it! Its a fight WITHIN.
The 'pubs might gain seats in the US Senate. Besides vulnerable dems, they might replace some traitorous RINOs with conservatives.
Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son
What you need, my son
Is a holiday in Cambodia
Where people dress in black
I predict the republicrats surrender meekly in this fight and in the process kill any chance for taking the senate and almost insure their loss of the house in 2014. The conservatives want to engage but why waste your powder and effort on the current rift-raft that is the GOP, they have not proven they are worthy of anything but contempt for their cowardice aside from Cruz, Paul, Lee...
I further predict Rove and the GOPe cram another presidential nominee like Romney down our throats with that old familiar cry, only they can win, blah-blah-blah, Christie etc... and the GOP only carries about 8 states with that ticket this time around. Sadly Hillary will be president in 2017 if we get another mush mouth RINO on the ticket.
The only way the republicrats take the senate and hold the house in 2014 is is obamacare is so horrid that democrats actually vote republican and that is not going to happen. Right now I am a conservative with no party and only a smidgeon of representation at the political table with Cruz and Paul.
When 40% of your population sees itself being an ATM and doormat for the rest of the population and held in utter contempt by the opposition party and worse still their own political party and has no representation at all you have an explosive situation that will eventually develop.
I heard Senator Ted Cruz tell Rush Limbaugh that, in the Republican Conference, We dont even talk about winning a fight ... they dont believe we can win.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants... bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society. Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors. [but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.
Flush both Obama and Bohner!
The Dems and the RINOS are in for a BIG SHOCK come next year. The tea party is resurging and so is the conservative meovement.
