CNN Poll Shows Media/Obama Losing Shutdown Battle
breitbart.com ^ | 9/30/13 | John Nolte

Posted on 09/30/2013 9:10:33 AM PDT by cotton1706

The con is on, folks.

Although a new CNN poll shows that across-the-board everyone will be blamed and damaged should the government shut down tomorrow, that is not the spin coming today from CNN or the rest of the left-wing media. Desperate to replay the '90s, even though today's poll says different, the media are working together to terrify the GOP into caving when what we really have is a situation where Obama is going to be much more damaged than a Republican Party that doesn't have much to lose.

According to the CNN poll, 58% believe congressional Democrats are acting like spoiled children, compared to 69% for the GOP. In other words, the public see both sides as losers, the GOP only a little more so.

In the event of a government shutdown, 46% would blame congressional Republicans and 36% would blame Obama. However, 13% would blame both -- which puts Obama only a point under 50%.

The media are attempting to spin these numbers in a way that makes it look as though the GOP will "bear the brunt of shutdown blame," but once you are at or over the 50% mark, it is all semantics. No one looks good and both sides are going to get hurt.

There is no question that the media's mission is to shape a reality that declares Obama a winner and the GOP a loser in the event of a shutdown. But both are looking like losers, which means a draw.

In the election after the 1995 government shutdown, the republicans gained two seats in the senate.

In the election after the 2011 cowering in the corner/avoiding a shutdown, the republicans LOST two seats.

Stand on principle and then CHARGE!

Obama’s phone call to the Iranian talking head is just another distraction to keep Congress from defunding Obamacare.

As usual, the 24/7 Media falls for it hook-line-and-sinker.

On the list of future distractions from defunding Obamacare are meetings with various Heads of State in DC and China.

Obama has found it very easy to advance his narrow ideological agenda of failure-prone Marxism.

4 years after Obama conned his Democrats into passing the Federal takeover of the cash cow of Medical Insurance, the PC, Doormat Republicans are finally timidly suggesting defunding that Federal takeover.

Without the weak, PC, Doormat Republicans Boehner and McConnell being stupidly kept in their respective leadership positions by truly cowardly House and Senate Members, Obama Medical Insurance “Care” Takeover would have been defunded long ago.

The primal yearning of the 47 % who pay no personal Federal Income tax is to belong to a tribe where all of their choices are dictated to them by their arrogant tribal leader.

This a common trait of those who have low self-esteem.

In that sense, Obamanation is truly a cult: low self-esteem people believing everything their cult leader tells them, no questions asked.

Freedom is defined in the dictionary as follows:
1.) Exemption or liberation from slavery or imprisonment.
3.) Liberty of choice or action.

Most of the 47 % riding in the “free” wagon seek out slavery, and lack of personal choice.

They thus feel safe, and secure in the knowledge that “this is as bad as it is going to get.”

Liberty is defined in the dictionary as follows:
1.) The state of being exempt from the domination of others or from restricting circumstances; freedom.
5.) The power of voluntary choice: freedom from necessity.
6.) Individual Liberty: Freedom from restraint in the performance of rights outside of government control.

Most people who are getting a free ride in the wagon where 47 % pay no personal Federal Income Taxes, are terrified of making a voluntary choice.

The 47 % would prefer that they be under government control where the choices are made for him.

All of this societal wussiness has made it very easy for B. Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, to advance his narrow ideological agenda of European-style, failure-prone, Marxism in spite of PC, Doormat Republican token “opposition.”

BTW, unlike taxes, Federal Obama ‘care’ Insurance charges can be increased EVERY YEAR to whatever % the present and future arrogant leaders of Obamanation wants.

BTW, BTW, the free-loading 47 % will always vote for the Candidate for POTUS approved by Obamanation.
_________________________________

The question to be asked is: “If it is in the Nation’s best interest to shut down the Government, then why are there only TWO Federal Politicians, Obama and Reid, loudly advocating shutting down the US Federal Government?

Obama has MANY reasons to shutdown the Federal Government such as:

1.) A headline grabbing story that will distract attention from the Impeachable scandals of:

Benghazi Massacre Dereliction of Duty by Obama as CIC;
Obamacare Insurance managed by the corrupt IRS;
IRS harassment of political opponents of Obama;
Use of the NSA by Obama to spy on everybody in the USA;
etc, etc.

2.) The use of fear of a shutdown might help to protect defunding and eventual abolishment of Obama’s narrowly focused ideological agenda of an European-style, failure-prone, Marxist, monopoly of the US Medical Insurance Industry.

3.) Spreading fear and blame might also preserve Obama’s power to increase Obamacare Insurance premiums on an annual basis.

*This would be highly advantageous to Obama as the increase in mandatory insurance premiums would not be a tax, as the “unexpected market conditions” would be given as the reason for the increase.

*Also there would be no need to ask for the “Advice and Consent” of Congress, as the IRS would be in complete control of all income and medical records.

4.) The last reason is the most important for Obama, personally: America would at last no longer be a Nation where the Liberty to choose one’s own family destiny could ever exist again.

As for Reid, the best guess I have is that he wants a Government Monopoly of the Medical Insurance Industry. Well, to be fair, Reid calls for a “single payer” system.

My suspician is that multi-millionaire Reid, nearing Federal retirement, owns a lot of stock in some companies that are tied to a “single payer” system.

Maybe the NSA, or the IRS can find out for us?

I’m going to ask my US Senator from TEXAS, The Esteemed Senator John “To Hell with my voters” Cornyn to check on this for me - - - .

Interesting that this is a CNN poll. They usually slant everything far left so, apparently, somebody at CNN forgot to cook the numbers!

As for the shutdown, bring it on!! America wins when these commies, liars and crooks are cooling their heels at home instead of trying to find new ways to screw us!

Still not so great #s. Obama and Reid are counting on those numbers changing to their favor during the shutdown.

GOP needs to be on TV repeating how its Obama who refuses to negotiate. How he and Reid were off while GOP House was working.

I was glad to see him on MSNBC MTP yesterday because the media is already telling Republicans that their refusal to give Obama and Reid 100% of what they want is causing the shutdown.

This could get very unpleasant.

...the media are working together to terrify the GOP into caving...

Yep. The spin this time is a little dizzying. The simple fact that the Republican House has twice passed Continuing Resolutions that would fund the government and the Democrats in the Senate have turned them down is lost on viewers who don't know how this is supposed to work and don't care to learn. If the media loudly and repeatedly misrepresent this as "the Republicans are shutting down the government" then it's very difficult to shout the truth against a barrage of lies.

In point of fact it is the Democrats in the Senate and the Executive who have dictated "No 0bamacare, no government." They may get their wish.

The United States federal government shutdown of 1995 and 1996 was the result of conflicts between Democratic President Bill Clinton and the Republican Congress over funding for Medicare, education, the environment, and public health in the 1996 federal budget.

The government shut down after Clinton vetoed the spending bill the Republican Party-controlled Congress sent him. The federal government of the United States put non-essential government workers on furlough and suspended non-essential services from November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996, for a total of 28 days. The major players were President Clinton and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich.

The alternate news sources today are much stronger than in 1995 when the last ‘shutdown’ occurred and the mythology since has blamed Newt Gingrich and his Contract with America Congress.

The media bias WILL be exposed as the true message filters through that republicans in the House have voted to fund everything but Obamacare which is either to be defunded or delayed.

Say it again, the true message that will penetrate the liberal media curtain:

THE FUNDS ARE THERE! THE FUNDS ARE THERE! THE FUNDS ARE THERE! The House has voted all funding except Obamacare!

The spin will go like:

WHY ARE YOU (the conservative anarchists) SHUTTING DOWN GOVERNMENT?

Answer: What? We funded it!

“can argue the case”

Corrected: “will argue”

You say it's lack of courage, etc. I say it goes even further. The vast majority of these Congresscriters have long ago lost the mental capacity to make the case for what is right. They are spiritually lost and they need to go.

They didn't spend their formative years touring Texas debating liberty and the constitution, as Cruz did. They are, by and large, Johnny-come-latelies to Conservatism, attracted by a host of other factors like a desire for power, prestige or an amorphous feeling that they could do their civic duty, without ever understand what that really entails.

Funny you should suggest that! Being from Nevada, I just called Scary Reid’s office and he STILL has his phone on voice mail from last week. I noticed his Mormon friends from Arizona and Utah didn’t cast a vote, which to me was a vote for Reid. I pray that people are watching this mess closely and making notes for the next election.

I just saw a glimpse of CNN and they are running a poll that says that 46% blame "Republicans in Congress", 36% blame "Obama" and 13% blame "both".

Same poll. IMO, the 46% number comes from low-information voters, who are CNN's primary viewers. The fact that they didn't cook the number to make it 87% blame Republicans and 13% blame both suggest that CNN forgot to turn the burner on under the number cooker.
