Aside from the layers of bureaucracy, and the potential for long-term abuses, I do see some silver linings in Obamacare.

For many people who only show up at emergency rooms, or handle healthcare with a Medicaid card, the law is forcing people to become consumers of healthcare. Subsidized premiums are one thing, but there will be deductibles and co-pays for treatments and prescriptions. In the past, I'm pretty sure many of these folks didn't have to worry about those things previously, and now they will. And they won't be happy because they'll have thought it was all supposed to be "free."

<....”the law is forcing people to become consumers of healthcare”....>

I differ on that take...I see this as nothing more than ‘a hoax to draw revenue’ from all people to the hands of politicians and they’re squabbles and deals on who gets it for anything other than healthcare.....

This is nothing about the peoples health...it’s about the revenue generating to the Government...period. And they will distribute it where ever they choose...and it won’t be on caring for the health of Americans.

BTW I’m sure who gets healthcare will be determined by who you vote for as well....they will make certain those who oppose them are at the back of the line.

The biggest problem with Obamacare is that they didn't try to duplicate one of the few universal health care systems that actually work--specifically Germany, who pioneered universal health care in 1884 and has refined it several times since into a public-private partnership and made it arguably the best health care system on Earth, including the fact Germany is still a world leader in medical technology.

Ya think?

This is why all is not lost if it comes in tomorrow.

We’ll have to pull it out after it’s planted - that will be harder.

We would have to reform it peicemeal and keep up with it year after year after year, much in the same way progressives have slowly eroded our liberties over the last 100 years...

Well, the tax on tanning salons is racist to begin with. Blacks don’t go to tanning salons.

Why not instead a tax on hair - weaves and nails?

I agree with that, FUNNY HOW THE LIBS NEVER TRY TO DUPLICATE SOCIALIZED SYSTEMS THAT SOMEWHAT WORK...

If Liberals were intellectually honest we would have the healthcare system of germany, the education system of Japan, the prison system of Japan, the firearms policy of switzerland etc etc.....

But it is not about providing the best for their “serfs” it is ALL ABOUT CONTROL!

Pure Cloward Piven posturing in order to break the sucessfull free market systems in order to create a crisis that allows them carte blanche authority to seize total control over as many systems as they can!

Do I want the German Healthcare system? No, I prefer the free market. Do I want the Japanaese School and Prison systems? No! there are somethings we should take “some” ideas from them, but all the above countries have less freedom than we USED to have.

Instead of taking ideas and aspects from systems that do work, instead they intentionally take away lessons that are consistently the wrong ones because either thay are stuipid or they know exactly WHAT they are doing!

Just kidding I am sure it won’t really affect me one way or another...

Maybe the Obama care door to door coaches won’t show up and I will be lonely and have to rely on Jehova Witlesses and Mormon Missionaries to keep me company....

.....I think Ben Sassee, Senate Candidate in Nebraska proves by his amazing fund raising that MANY, if not ALL, dimocrats up for election in 2014 are, one by one, falling on their swords by continuing, in September 2013, to support obamacare!

I love it! Bring on the popcorn and let’s watch em fall!

I'm hoping day one is disaster, so everyone gets a taste of how screwed up anything govt. runs can be. Pubbies can't think of scaling down any agreement with Dems until the initial feedback starts rolling in.

Imagine if complaints are wide and loud. On the other hand, if it goes smoothly.....nnnaaahhh, that can't happen, it's gubmint.

"...forcing people to become consumers of health care"

That may be true for a short while, but it's moving very fast towards single payer. Choices will be 1) govt. A or 2) govt. B.

One benefit I see is the decoupling of health care from jobs. All problems would be solved if your consumer premise was how the whole system worked. Shop, compare, and choose how to spend your money. The intervening insurance factor creates the impression that someone else is paying.

‘if all of the ACA gets active, the Democrats will get slaughtered at the polls.’

Don’t be so sure -
1. the lamestream will convince the stupid voters that ovomit and his dems didn’t cause them the pain, it is the other party’s fault;
2. Their unchallenged voter fraud will give them just enough edge to beat us.
3. The ‘patriots’ who refuse to vote for the less than perfect candidate will help to elect ovommit and his gang’s choice etc etc.

Alas! How can we reverse the ‘dumbing down of America’?

Interestingly, relatively few people on the Left here in the USA want something akin to the British National Health Service. Not hard to figure out why: NHS--being effectively a government monopoly--lives on the whim on government funding, and you know how government budgets change every year!

It's Because the Politicians don't want to fix the problem.

You fix the problem, no more need for the Elites to be around to fix it eh?

So, you still believe the fantasy that we have honest elections in this country?
