North Carolina’s Republican governor is vowing to fight a lawsuit by the U.S. Justice Department challenging the state’s tough new elections law on the grounds it disproportionately excludes minority voters.

Gov. Pat McCrory said Monday he has hired a private lawyer to help defend the new law from what he suggested was a partisan attack by President Barack Obama’s Democratic administration. …

North Carolina’s new law cuts early voting by a week, ends same-day voter registration and includes a stringent photo ID requirement. The measure also eliminated a popular high school civics program that encouraged students to register to vote in advance of their 18th birthdays.

More than 70 percent of African-Americans who cast a ballot in North Carolina during the past two presidential elections voted early. Studies show minority voters are also more likely to lack a driver’s license. …

If I were black I would be so offended by democrats and the media who claim that my race makes it hard for me to get a photo ID and vote on Election Day.
If the rules are the same for every race then there should be no argument.
It’s as simple as that.

Holder’s quotes today were about ‘discrimination’ on early voting rollbacks.

There is NO early voting in Michigan, and we took PICTURE ID to SCOTUS and won, and with Indiana.

Holder has no standing, this argument has been settled years ago.

How do you get a job w/o photo ID? How do you get welfare benefits w/o photo ID? Open a bank account? Buy beer? But voting?

Beats me. They regulate the hell out of us but when it comes to voting they want total anarchy. That way they can steal elections and make sure self government doesn’t interfere with their agenda to oppress and lord over us.

Perhaps Governor McCrory should simply tell the Justice Department it is infringing on the state’s rights under Amendment 10 to the Constitution. In addition establishment of election laws is not an enumerated power of the federal government. The lawsuit is unconstitutional and the state is ignoring it.

I guess North Carolina should toss out the racist TSA and their photo ID requirements to get on a plane.
