HOUSE GOP PRESS FORWARD ON IMMIGRATION AMID BUDGET FIGHT
Big Government ^ | 10/1/2013 | Tony Lee

Posted on 10/01/2013 1:50:23 AM PDT by markomalley

In the midst of the government shutdown debate, House Republicans are "quietly" working to advance immigration reform "beneath the radar."

"Don't start an obituary for immigration reform just yet," Fox News Latino declared on Monday.

"Despite the appearance that would suggest everyone in Washington is focused on one thing, work is going on on other issues beneath the radar," said Tamar Jacoby, head of ImmigrationWorks USA, which is described as "a coalition of small businesses that supports comprehensive immigration legislation."

According to Fox News Latino, "while the spotlight on Congress is on the partisan brawl over government spending and President Barack Obama's health care law, some Republicans in the House are quietly working to bring some momentum to work on fixing the immigration system."

Outside groups like Jacoby's and lawmakers have all insisted in recent days that "three months after the Democratic-led Senate passed a sweeping immigration bill, the issue is showing signs of life in the Republican-run House."

On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said conservatives must be "ever vigilant" about the House's efforts to move amnesty provisions and comprehensive immigration reform forward, especially on days where there is nothing yet planned on the legislative calendar.

These people might love their families but they are not uber conservative nor practsing Catholics

They do not have respect for this country and our rules and why should they ever

They vote democrat because in Mexico the republicans are bad. Get that? They vote 73% democrat

The Catholics vote about 50% democrat in this country. GOP knows that

Latinos vote 73% democrat

No practicing catholic can vote for a publicly pro abortion pusher of abortion
It is a mortal sin, as it contributes to the killing of innocents

I have seen entire families leave a parish and go search for something they want to hear rather than be told this fact by clergy

My worst nightmare is that the GOP is going to use this as a ‘bargaining; chip. You know, ‘we will pass your immigration bill for a delay in Ocare’. Then we end up with all bad things.

Too bad the leadership has no spine ( or other accouterment). Eric Cantor should be ashamed of himself

Eric Cantor should be ashamed of himself.

The Globalists (who wish to see America dead) to which he answers, tell him he should be proud of himself.

How can they pass comprehensive immigration reform, when the president will just pick and choose which portions of the law he will enforce?

They are counting on Bathhouse Barry to enforce the parts of the law that they really want enforced - those that give complete and total Amnesty and that punish native citizens that dare resist it.

> Regardless of Obama’s behavior, amnesty is a travesty and that is what they are trying to alternatively sneak and force through.

And wouldn’t it be ridiculously funny if most of the illegals ended up being conservative and voted Republican completely counter to Obama’s evil plans to keep Socialists in power forever?...: )

You’re kidding yourself. They are overwhelmingly Leftists at home who get not only massive welfare support but affirmative-action favoritism once they arrive here—and they continue to vote for Democrats generation after generation.

Fair enough—it’s just scary that that’s actually an argument that the GOPe makes!

Need to see the bill first..although we all know Congress could pull a fast one.

Our immigration system is fine...perhaps some tweaking here and there. Definitely need to punish countries that are hostile toward our system. Mexico is a classic example.

The “triggers” talked about may be fine but look who we have in the WH! Laws mean nothing to him.

facepalm

So, while appearing to battle Mengelecare, the GOPe is plotting to add 11 million Democrats to the voter rolls?

/facepalm
