I wonder if I could get them to send me six copies of the new regulations? I am running low on kindling.
Does this mean I have to return to Mars and dismantle my woodstove?
I just lit mine. Got a cup of coffee and set down to read this. I don’t think I’ll put it out though.
Have them send you a copy of the healthcare bill. That should get you through the whole winter.
Karl Marx was a Free Traitor like some here on this forum.
Washington, Jefferson and other FF-ers were for tariffs.
Spew your vile income tax loving BS on the DU site where all income tax loving Free Traitors belong.
Secondly, they're attempting to make it impossible to sell your wood-burning stove, or have a business reselling them, or even a consumer trading in their older wood-burner for a newer and more efficient model.
Lastly, the poor and not-rich who need a wood-burning stove will probably not be able to afford the new stoves designed to lower the particle size, so they either have to make do with an older stove, maybe in disrepair to the point of danger, or try to construct one themselves, also wrought with danger.
And these three things will happen without a single jack boot crossing a threshold.
The new economy. Government by bureaucrat fiat.
” From my WARM, dead hands “
Lest you believe this is not a worldwide endeavor, this ‘Agenda 21’, please rethink that.
The EPA stove listing: (includes pellet stoves)
The solution is to wire a micro particulate digester dingus to the side of the stove pipe at least 24 inches above the last bend in the pipe. The particulates problem will be solved.
The digester is made from a 32 oz juice can and is readily attainable. Although a 1 uart PET bottle can be used, it must be replaced frequently. The metal can is far superior.
I'm thinking, "Nope."
>> Come and take it
A f*cking woodstove? That gives new meaning to the Battle of Gonzales slogan (1835 Texas Revolution).
We’ve been heating the main room in our Colorado getaway by woodstove for 20 years now. During the year, we fell and split the beetle kill trees. Guess now we’ll just have to wait for a biga$$ wildland fire?
“please rethink that.”
Laz, I live in a third world country. The vast majority cooks over burning wood. If the Third World Order does not like that, I guess they will just have to come nuke the country.
On the other hand, maybe they will take the riches from the west and buy everyone a new gas or electric stove ;)
This would also then apply to a fireplace...same particulates, actually more since a fireplace is not as efficient as a wood stove. (Time for a little civil disobedience I’m thinking in many areas..now where did I out those matches?)
Wife threw a fit.
With the left pushing the tolerance envelope closer and closer to the breaking point, its looking more and more like no one, even the liberals, will have to guess what it is.
Far better than shutting down the government would be shutting down the power in the beltway. These people have no humility.
To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be place under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality."Proudhon
Somehow you think that matters. It won't. This is a global push. Millions, perhaps billions, will die. That part may occur after we are long dead, but believe me when I tell you, you will feel the Globalist and Agenda 21 influences before you die.
I have a wonderful ability to sense broad trends. I've been proven right again and again. My ability to predict the short term is almost 100% wrong, but my long term predictions are at about 90% correct.
The only way these initiatives fail to get traction is if there is a major, especially nuclear, war. Even a pandemic plays into the enemies hand.
Green = Anti-Human
A lot of my neighbors aren’t going to like this.
Many of them burn wood to help with their heating costs during the winter.
Who will enforce this?
I cannot see our local police force riding around looking for smoke from the chimneys.
Nobody tell this guy about the popularity of backyard fire pits. I always burn the paper billing statements.
State Action - Laws, Fees and Taxes
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment posts wood-burning advisories on its website. During red advisories, mandatory residential burning restrictions generally apply to everyone in the 7-county Denver-Boulder metro area below 7,000 feet. There are exceptions for those who use Colorado Phase III (Phase II EPA) certified wood-burning stoves, state-approved pellet stoves, approved masonry heaters or those whose stoves or fireplaces are their primary source of heat.
The state of Idaho offers taxpayers who buy new wood stoves, pellet stoves, or natural gas or propane heating units for their residences a tax deduction to replace old, uncertified wood stoves.
Michigan’s Model Ordinance for Outdoor and Open Burning (PDF) (21pp, 306K) - contains provisions and optional provisions that Michigan municipalities can “pick and choose” from
The state of Montana offers an Alternative Energy Systems Credit against income tax liability for the cost of purchasing and installing an energy system in a Montana residents principal home that uses “ . . . a low emission wood or biomass combustion device such as a pellet or wood stove.”
Utah has a Red Light, Green Light program to curtail wood-burning along the Wasatch Front during winter inversions. RED: No residential/commercial burning. The Division of Air Quality staff inspect the valleys for smoke coming from chimneys. The staff also investigate complaints made to the Division. Offenders are ticketed, and fines may be levied. First-time offenders face a fine of $25; second-time offenders pay $50 to $140; and third-time offenders face fines from $150 to $299. YELLOW: reduce burning; GREEN (clearing index high): burning allowed.
The state of Washington has established wood stove emission performance standards that are more stringent than the federal rule. In addition, the state of Washington assesses a flat fee on the sale of every wood-burning device to fund the education of citizens about wood smoke health and air quality impacts and the benefits of cleaner burning wood stoves.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Model Ordinance - contains suggestions and options for local governments to regulate open burning at the local level
Vermont has compiled a state listing of regulatory action for hydronic heaters.
“I tell you, you will feel the Globalist and Agenda 21 influences before you die.”
They better get cracking...I am already 69 years old.
I feel sure that they will hit the rich countries first....Yes, no more fireside chats for you, haha.
It’s not that tough to build your own. Most anyone with a welder and a 55 gallon drum can make on in an hour or so.
What’s the difference between a woodstove and a wood burning fireplace? Nothing. Is this more about trees being cut down for burning?
3D-printed wood stoves in our future?
The Amish are not going to like this.
So I have to install and maintain this particulate catcher which will be yet another inconvenience that probably could cause a chimney fire? Or buy a new stove?? Screw the EPA!
How much longer are we going to take this?
Let’s shut down the EPA, for good and save the money.
69 is the new 49
Let’s see -
Government tells me what kind of toilet I can use.
Government tells me what kind of stove I can use.
I suppose next I will have to worry about how many times I break wind every day.
Unless I become a politician. Then I can get a ‘break wind’ waiver.
Burn coal and wood. Put carbon back into the atmosphere, where it belongs to feed the trees. Resist!
“69 is the new 49”
Well, life on a beach with a young wife and child does makes me feel more like 39. My wish is to see America return to being like the country that I grew up in, but I have my doubts, considering the makeup of the new population.
I fear that the country could mirror the old USSR and be the USSA.
This is an article from The Onion, right?
69 is the new
How long till campfires are illegal year round?
Come and stop me you fascists!
Most of us have wood stoves up here, and I’ve got news for the EPA: we ain’t turning them off. Especially, come January. Oh: and we’re all pretty much heavily armed.
In Wisconsin we already have regulations banning the movement of firewood between townships, due to Emerald Beetle infestation.
This will be like the regulations that banned gravity septic systems here. No one will care, but when your system or your stove fails, all that is available is the approved variety. Eventually, the homeowners insurance policies may have waivers(meaning no coverage) for unapproved stoves.
For the septic systems, they just condemned the gravity type and there was a pool you could apply to for help with the cost after the fact (No guarantees of how much assistance, if any). There are already tax credits for the approved wood stoves.
We have an old one. Actually, having a masonry chimney does wonders. In 40 years, I have never seen any black deposits on the snow around our house. There are a lot of old stoves in use out here.
This thread, today .. is the very first time I've ever heard of any woodburning regulations.
I second that solution.
There’s a big difference between a home-welded drum and a cast iron enameled Jotul stove.
Don’t get sucked into the escapism of DIY when faced with criminalization of fundamental rights via destruction of product supply chain.
It seems that every time you post you remind us that you live in the Philippines--or wherever it is that you live. Good. Stay there. Others prefer to get four seasons, among the many other benefits of living in the USA.
Living abroad seems to be your major accomplishment in life. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If EPA wood stoves work as well as EPA paint, many in the USA will be very cold very soon. I have been in the NEW house for just over 8 years & have already had to paint some exterior things 2 times.
How quickly can all such wood stoves be replaced? There isn’t that much inventory of such on hand, and there certainly are not that many manufacturers.
Another sweeping boondoggle by the EPA & Obama.
I may be wrong, but doesn’t Obamacare have a section where Obama minions can “inspect” your home? Is that how this will be enforced? If you have a wood or pellet burning stove, then no health care??
Banning wood burning fireplaces can’t be far behind here.
Our reps should be fighting these ridiculous EPA decisions.
is most likely just a drop I the bucket compared to one good forest fire.””””
Yosemite fire is STILL burning. Over 400 sq miles==over 256,000 ACRES. That is over 11,151,360,000 sq feet....Over 11 Trillion sq feet of forest. Cannot even calculate the board feet of lost timber.
Henry Bowman, please pick up the courtesy phone.
. . . a bunch of fascists drunk with power getting their emotional kicks by dictating how everyone else should live.
