Some idiot in government sent goons out there to set up barricades, so they couldn’t see the monument. People had to spend hours setting up barricades where there are never barricades to prevent people from seeing the World War II monument because they’re trying to play a charade,” Rand (R-Ky.) said Tuesday on Fox News’s “Hannity.”

The vets apparantly found a loophole in the shutdown rules. Per the WTOP feed, people can’t be denied access to public open space if they’re engaging in 1st Amendment activities.
Fox had cameras rolling.

The “goon” terminology is just a natural reaction among free people to efforts like this; people are quick to react because the outrages just keep coming.

I just got done reading the three dozen pages of shutdown regulations which I've been given by a furloughed federal employee. I may have missed this, or it may be in another document. I don't doubt what you're saying at all but I'd love to get a “chapter and verse” reference.
It would also be helpful in responding to some Freepers who may not understand the legalities here. The other side is really good at manipulating fine print of regulations; we need to get just as good if we're going to win this thing.
It was out on the WTOP newsfeed several hours ago. They didn’t provide any citation beyond it coming from NPS sources.
It wouldn’t surprise me if some entrepreneurial NPS staffer came up with it as a creative interpretation in order to defuse the situation. Yesterday there were 90 vets, a few Congresscritters and several dozen of the vets’ family members
Today those numbers, from reports and pics, were easily double. It was becoming a spectacle that would invariably continue to grow on a daily basis. A spectacle that distracted from and ran counter to the desired visuals and narrative. So an “out” that would get the situation out of the media was quickly found.

Sooner, rather than later BUT we have to do as ‘they’ do.
Chip at the top and work your way down, we know there are 15% on either side you couldn’t move if you detonatd an HBomb in their back or fanny pack.
You can bet your bippy that if the R’s had the WH and Senate, with the D’s having Congress and if the #’s were 54 R’s and 46 D’s, that the D’s would ram legislation through that would demand a 60 vote vote.......R’s just TALK about it, D’s do it.
Also, at the 56-46 the D’s would not be worrying about a lot of ‘crossing the aisle’...UNLESS, of course, it meant say a D in a strong R state was on the fence and his vote were meaningless......
The D’s play CHESS while the R’s are still trying to figure out if they want Red or Black in the game they think may be checkers...
I don’t ‘like’ and can’t ‘stand’ the LIBS but at least they have loyalty down pat.....
