I was looking at DU - someone was THRILLED to find out their health insurance was FREE - and it was medicare! and said it was the VERY FIRST TIME they ever had insurance? Insane?
The other DU’ers corrected and assumed it was Medicaid but you know you qualify for Medicaid with or without Obamacare - you are either dirt poor and qualify for welfare or you don’t!
All part of the plan. Put in something, so bad, that people will finally give in and accept a Single Payer system, which is the ultimate goal.
Yep. Once people are faced with the true cost of the insurance, they’ll shop accordingly. Insurance rates will come down. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long. I’m guessing 15 or 20 years left for employer-based health coverage.
Then the reality will be triple or quadruple that cost.
“The One Word Missing From All Those ObamaCare Ads”:
A recent IBD front page article/editorial was based on the one word that the Obozocare Nazis never mention.
That word is Mandate, where every American is forced or mandated into accepting and paying for ObozoCare.
The main target of the Mandate are the young health Americans not in need of this costly witches brew.
If they are not mandated/forced to join, Obozocare will die on its own.
This link will take everyone to read about the missing word, Mandate, in every pro Obozocare ad and propaganda coming out of the outhouse and congress:
I regret I’m late to this thread, hopefully someone can answer this for me: what is the “penalty” (tax) again if one does not get health insurance?
I heard somewhere it’s $300, but is that $300 for the whole year or per month? (i.e. ~$1200)?
Thanks for posting. This helps answer my previous question.
Open enrollment period? So Obamacare covers preexisting conditions -- except people need to wait so they can be paid for???
Some people will believe anything. Oh, and your dog gets shot on the second anniversary non-payment followed by your wife on the third.
For all you democrat and liberal lurkers out there.
Not one Republican Senator or Representative voted for Obamacare.
And, it is a Democrat president implementing this monstrosity.
IT'S All THE DEMOCRATS FAULT!
It is not George Bush, John Boehner or any republican.
The price of healthcare including deductibles is only going to get worse.
Not really. Obamacare includes Expanded Medicaid in states that approved it. Income up to roughly $33,500 for a family of four. Not really "dirt poor" in my neck of the woods.
If you are relying on that kind of fiction for your education about Obamacare you are going to end up being worse than a low information voter...more like a NO information voter... Please go to proper sources to look up information.
Convert to Islam or Amish and you’re exempt from OCare.
Wow! I though the first year fine was $95?
Another question, was the $14k yearly deductible yours to pay before the insurance kicked in?
I’d like to but the official sources are down/nearly unresponsive due to heavy traffic. (At least they were last night)
Do you have alternate sources of info? It’s why I asked.
A major hurdle is the ability to get a policy across state lines.
Sure. That can be fixed. There is a whole list of things can be done. They all include getting rid of Govt involvement.
The ObamaCARE system will be death camps
where those to die by neglect,
and those to have their organs taken by force
(for more important Congress and union leaders,
and their staff, and relatives)
will PAY FOR THE “HONOR”.
I understand and my state’s enrollment site was inaccessible most of yesterday.
But I would search for legitimate published articles covering the questions you have, such as the penalty for no coverage. I probably have read over 100 articles in the past two years on the subject. The enrollment websites probably aren’t the optimal source for this type of information anyway.
If you have a state exchange you will need to wait for access to that to get information on the particular plans available in your state. Once you know the names of the insurers and the titles of the approved plans then you can go to the insurer’s website in many cases. If no state exchange then the fed website.
Good luck. If you need coverage by January 1 then make sure you are enrolled by December 15th.
“Is it time yet, Claire...?”
See post #4. Once you register, you can opt out... but then your penalties are detailed for you, in very clear and ominous language.
See post #4. It’s $4000, plus potential federal liens on your home and bank accounts.
Add those in, and you get your first dollar of benefits after you’ve spent $6500. What a deal!
I have no idea where these liars are coming up with their information.
I managed to look at some of the plan terms for Colorado. People are going to be blown away at the costs. Pretty much around $600.00/month for an individual for a low end plan with around $5,000.00 deductible and $6,000.00 out of pocket.
I assume the purpose of their lies is that, while nearly everyone will see double or even triple the claimed amounts, that everyone will think it’s just them that’s being screwed and that everyone else is getting the $300.00/month rate. That way the liars hope to avoid the nation’s citizens figuring out that EVERYONE got screwed and revolting against the Commie/Democrats/Progressives/Marxists/Socialists.
I think this is all a ruse. There is no way the figures the guy quoted are right.
Also, be careful of Infowars. There is a reason Jim will not allow his garbage to be posted here.
Yeah, but hey, you can get a free check-up in the middle of all that non-covered care....
Actually, Drudge did tweet this out. Paul J. Watson is an excellent reporter. Who am I going to listen to Fox News--they've gone nearly as progressive as the rest. You have to go to alternative sources, and like you said, be careful. Sift through, take with a grain of salt and, like somebody else said, trust but verify.
Sooner than that, truckers on on the move, despite several attempst by fartbook to stop their organizing— they re-organized again with proxy names and code— smart people:
The people without insurance that this legislative train wreck was set in motion to “help”, still wont buy the cheapest policies even with subsidies.
Why pay anything if they can just go to the ER when they have a cold or need some back pain pills?
There is no way they are going to bay a $4,000 - $6,000 deductible.
Good point. This is a red herring. We ought to be careful about spreading these things. The real numbers are more than sufficient to produce an outcry.
Medicare?? Only way that could happen is if they just turned 65 or became disabled.
Most likely they just got thrown into the Medicaid pool.
“The fine for the first year of no insurance is $95 or 1% of household income, whichever is higher.”
It could be that a higher fine is imposed for preexisting conditions.
We know that once passed, this bill was changed and added to until it’s not the same law at all. We still don’t know what’s in it and there have been so many lies it’s difficult to sort out.
The coverage doesn’t start ‘til January 1. Then you won’t be able to sign up for it until the next open enrollment period. Waiting to enroll until you’re sick will only be a practical tactic if you’re planning to have a slow-developing chronic illness.
Missouri hasn’t expanded their Medicaid to low income. States that have done so will be in for a rude awakening when federal funding tapers off to help pay for the new consumers on the Medicaid wagon.
Medicaid expansion costs unsustainable
The federal government has a long record of not paying bills it has agreed to cover. The offer of free federal funds to cover the costs of state Medicaid expansions wont be any different says U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo.
It’s worth noting that many of the major insurers are putting a “light” version of their regular plans on the exchanges.. a restricted list of doctors and hospitals, and no (or limited) outside plan coverage. So, the folks doing comparisons at the company sites should make sure they’re actually looking at the same plan that’s on the exchange.
For many years, California offered heavily subsidized coverage for the children of the working poor, it was under-subscribed every year. Even twenty bucks a month didn’t beat free.
Guess who's gonna be paying Obamacare tax...?
What a scam.
“The people without insurance that this legislative train wreck was set in motion to help, still wont buy the cheapest policies even with subsidies.

There is no way they are going to pay a $4,000 - $6,000 deductible.”
Correct. And those who are just a bit smarter and more informed than the ER-class “citizens” can just buy a policy when they need REALLY expensive treatments not otherwise available in the ER.
Damn Democrats got that backwards too..
They’ll have to wait until the next open enrollment period to buy a policy.
“Please, please, please refrain from propagating these lies”
Well, the biggest liar is Obama so who knows what to believe! Maybe Jacqui should start there!
heh, (where narcissists pass their gas?)
2085/55000 = 3.791%, which is obviously more than 2.5%. That would be the “whichever is greater”.
oops, looks like the cat is out of the bag.
no pass to see what is in it.
though the register first then see what is available gives obama the “people have signed up” body count propaganda tool.
I don’t think ANYONE knows what we are going to be facing until it happens! Shouldn’t we KNOW EXACTLY what to expect when a new law is passed?! Since NO ONE knows what the law says is the reason we don’t know!
“With the implementation of Obamacare, my employers healthcare coverage is considered a Cadillac plan. This means that I will be taxed on the net value of what my employer pays for my insurance plan. This happens to be about $12,000/year. I have been fortunate enough to pay nothing out of pocket for this premium, but it is part of the reason I took my job in the first place. However, now, instead of being taxed on my actual salary of $35,000/year*, I will be taxed on a salary of $47,000/year. Well, guess what? That pushes me into a much higher tax bracket. So, besides paying for my co-pay ($3,000/year) Im going to have to pay the government more than $4,000 extra per year in taxes. So, where once I was paying $3,000 annually for medical expenses, Im now going to be paying $7,000, $4,000 of which I will have to pay even if I dont ever receive another medical service in my life again. Yet, my actual take-home salary will remain $35,000. So, how do you think this math works out for me and my family?”
