Shutdown stalemate continues; White House meeting unproductive
CBS News ^ | 10/02/13 | Stephanie Condon, Rebecca Kaplan

President Obama's 70-minute White House meeting late Wednesday afternoon with congressional leaders, an effort to break the stalemate over the partial government shutdown, did nothing to help end the impasse.

"We had a nice conversation, light conversation," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said following the meeting, but noted the president repeated that he will not negotiate on dialing back Obamacare.

He added that he hopes that Mr. Obama and Democrats will have a serious discussion about resolving their differences with House Republicans.

"All we're asking for is a discussion and fairness for the American people under Obamacare," he said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said after the meeting, "We had some candid discussion."

But, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., added, "We are where we are. We're through playing these games" on Obamacare, he added. Earlier Wednesday, Mr. Obama said that Wall Street should be worried about more serious consequences now that the government is closed for business and the debt limit deadline is just around the corner.

they keep talking about how Republicans are gonna “tank the entire economy” due to the shutdown butI think it’s because they know something terrible is coming to the economy because of Obamacare and want to get people thinking that whatever happens to the economy will be due to the shutdown and Republicans.

Looks like the kenyan is trying to drag this out and roll the debt ceiling into any deal.

Senator Harry Reid ✔ @SenatorReid Republicans are in such desperate straits that they have literally resorted to accusing me of not caring about kids with cancer. Shameful.

Dingy Harry is looking worse and worse every day. He’s starting to take on the persona of the wicked witch of the west.

I said it on another thread - I really hope Ted Cruz is handling things when it comes to the debt ceiling.

If you think the press is silly about the shutdown, wait until the debt limit is reached - they’ll be apoplectic.

I think they're just pulling random predictions out of their asses in order to make it sound really, really bad.

If the repubs cave, we might as well do away with congress altogether.

obumblers position is simple. He will not discuss anything with anyone in congress, except of course his gofors.

And as for the budget, give him the money or he will pick up his marbles and go home.

If that is what congress allows, we really don't need congress.

This is not about the budget, obumbler care or the shutdown. It is about whether we are going to have a government that operates by the Constitution or whether we have a Marxist tyrant governing our country.

Never mind the false dilemma he presented of choosing between the one kid and 1,100 people at Nellis AFB that he really cares nothing about anyhow.

This Obama farce is a protracted conflict, neither Obama or Harry Reid ever gave a thought to. Pelosi, moron, braindead that she is, has no clue where she is...and Mitch McConnell is as braindead as a human being can become!!!

With each passing day Obama/Reid/Democrats get more terrified, lose more ground with Jane/john Q Public and look like the idiots they are!!! Now....both Obama and his moron sidekick, James (the Lie) Clapper are trying to scare the American Public with dire warnings about the debt ceiling and terrorist attacks. IMHO...I think it is time to truly consider removing Obama from office by Impeaching him!!!

Pubbies...hang tough!!! Obama, etc. are losing the game...bit by bit!!! Sign & endorse the Lee/Cruz petition to defund Obamacare NOW....TODAY!!!

Now stands at 2,026,000 signatures and still climbing!!! Sign it now!!!!

Actions are louder than words, Senator Harry Reid!

Senator Harry Reid took action to reject funding for NIH. Harry Reid refused to allow funding for NIH. But, of course, Harry Reid cares about children with cancer, but he cannot bring himself to fund the organization! Those are the facts.
