Skip to comments.Divide and Conquer: Politico Cites Unnamed Republican Senator to Blast Cruz

.............Cruz responded to the anonymous comments by directing the conversation back toward the government shutdown and Obamacare, telling Politico, It seems that there is nothing the media likes to cover more than disagreements among Republicans, and apparently some senators are content to fuel those stories with anonymous quotes. Regardless, my focus and, I would hope, the focus of the rest of the conference is on stopping Harry Reids shutdown, ensuring that vital government priorities are funded, and preventing the enormous harms that Obamacare is inflicting on millions of Americans.
It is evident that no matter what Cruzs strategy was or is, Democrats in the Senate and President Obama have no plan to counter it beyond pure obstructionism and name-calling. Perhaps years ago, that strategy would have met with more success. But as Americans watch error signs pop up on their Obamacare websites and seethe at the notion that the government had to shut down to keep the broken Obamacare trains running on time, the Cruz playbook, as The Hill put it today, is looking better and better. Thats why the media is now playing defense for President Obamas and Harry Reids shutdown by trying to make it all about Ted Cruz. Unfortunately for them, this debate was always about the American people.

".....Let's have a new first party, a Republican Party, raising a banner of bold colors, no pale pastels, a banner instantly recognizable as standing for certain values that cannot be compromised.."
Cruz’a response was pure class. Brilliant. Doesn’t take the bait from the scumbag “journ-O-lists”.
This is a man who is going places.
Romney and McCain -vs- Democrats. And it wasn't by a Large margin, but enough to lose.
Then there's a one million dollar question: Would we have been better off under their leadership
Wow. He’s quick on his feet, unlike most of the leaden-footed GOP. I only hope his comments get through the media iron curtain. They’re not going to like dealing with this guy.
Of course we would. They may have been RINOs, but they weren't communists, and they could be reasoned with.
Current leadership, not so much.
Obamacare must be stopped at all cost.
The Government is not elected to run, enforce, give, or in any way obstruct the medical care of this country.
Chief Justice Roberts could and should have stopped this thing in it’s tracks.
That’s what people thought under Bush. But the leftward slide continued notwithstanding, even with the GOP in majority in both houses of Congress.
Leftward slide, yes, but it wasn’t an avalanche like we have now.
The slope was still pointing leftwards. Bush and the GOP fought against a lot of conservative initiatives, and AFAICS were deliberately setting up the Democratic shift that we got stuck with in 2006.
It’s not cognitive dissonance I feel when looking at that photo. There probably aren’t any nice words to describe just what manner of feelings they are.
Ted Cruz represented John Boehner in his lawsuit against McDermott over a 1996 taped phone conference call between Newt Gingrich, John Boehner, Dick Armey, Tom DeLay and Newt Gingrich (recorded by the Martins, "grandparents" listening to a police scanner who decided to save it for posterity's sake). The Martins turned this recorded phone meeting over to Rep McDermott and he in turn turned it over to the media. Gingrich eventually stepped down under trumped up ethics charges and Boehner sued McDermott on 1st Amendment rights - after years of litigation McDermott was ordered to pay Boehner $1.05 million in attorney's fees, costs and interest. McDermott also paid $60,000+ in fines and almost $600,000 in legal fees of his own.

The media deluge of leftism is just way too much. One can only beg for God to silence them rapidly.
Is that true? Did that dude really eat someone’s organs?
Roberts sold out the country to protect his personal situation IMO. There should be a special place in hell where he can think about what he has done for all eternity.
No wonder they're worried about Cruz and are trying like hell to give him the Palin treatment.
Almost have to laugh, this puts old *Boner* in quite the conundrum when dealing with Cruz.
Video from Time Magazine - reported on CNN
Good plan. Anonymous accusations worked for Senator Joe McCarthy, and they are using his playbook.
So that’s why Stinky Harry keeps saying the Cruz lead House.
The Soros/Rove wing of the GOP is really desperate....2016 presidential nomination is Cruz’s if he wants it
Absolutely, I witnessed it.

Could even by Texas' own John Cornyn, whom Cruz refuses to endorse in his reelection bid next year.
...or take any number of RINOs in the house or senate.
We would have gotten the same thing only slower....what’s happening was inevitable under the present conditions. When it fails we have to ensure that we have the right people to take over!!
Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
No question that we would have been better off under the leadership of either McCain, or Romney. It might not have been perfect, but they would have been surrounded by enough honest, patriotic men and women to hold their tendencies to compromise in check. And each of them would have had a strong VP to help out instead of a doofus who belongs in a straight jacket.
There is no compromise when it concerns freedom or the Constitution.
OMG! Cruz certainly has conservative credentials from the get go. I wonder if that slime ball McDermott ever came up with the money?
The general consensus is that the backstabbing “unnamed Senator” in question was Corker.
Cruz is truly amazing and so very accomplished!
We have to elect him POTUS!
I have no idea about slime ball McDermott forking over the money, but he probably had to.
After reading that bit, one would think that if Boehner was at all decent, he would have some allegiance to Cruz.
I just do not understand the life and mind of the typical politician.
