The Republicans need to start asking themselves which programs will cause the Democrats the most pain if they are not funded.

If funding for the IRS is curtailed, they can't persecute Tea Party people. If funding for DOJ is curtailed, they can't sue States which enact tough voter ID laws. If the EPA is not fully funded, it makes it difficult for them to sue energy states like Texas, and it makes it difficult for them to make rules and enforce them. And the Republicans need to know which agencies are funneling money to ACORN and put them on the bottom of the funding list. The 2014 elections are coming up, and the longer ACORN doesn't get money, the better.

An article has just been posted which states that as long as the shut down is in force, the deficit is being reduced at the rate of 170 million dollars A DAY! Each month the government is shut down shaves 5 BILLION dollars from the deficit. What’s not to like about the shut down?
