This link is to the:
It's a real time representation of, among other things, federal spending.
What's cool is that during the shutdown federal spending is actually LESS then revenue...so the DEFICIT is decreasing by about $170,000,000 a day.
Why this is deadly to the libs is that the longer the shutdown goes, the more people will see how bloated the government is. The slimdown is just cutting the fat and it's already making a huge difference. The longer it lasts the more people will see that, hey, it's no skin off our teeth AND we're getting our financial house in order!
Thank you Republicans for not backing down and shutting down the government. Maybe now finally Americans will realize that 99% of the government is not needed. And we might pay off the debt if we keep the EPA ,IRS , NSA etc not funded! this is the best thing ever that Republicans did shutting down the gov and not backing down to the media.

Until all the tit-suckers get their back pay for their current vacations.
No need to raise the debt limit now.
This is great. It’s like when Bath-house Barry goes golfing all the time.
He does the country a favor when he’s not at the White Hut but instead is golfing or even taking his (almost) monthly million dollar vacations.
Did someone forget they get backpay when they get back to work?
Uhhh—spending is going down, but debt is still rising
Except that like every other shutdown, federal employees will be paid whatever they lost during their furlough period.
I don’t think federal spending is really down very much. Only suspended. It will catch up after the shutdown is over. Feds will get fully compensated while they’re off and contractors will still get paid becuase of contracts that are in force.
Apparently all prior furloughed employees were fully paid following all 17 prior shutdowns.
Just one big paid vacation for non-essential (i.e., not needed) fed workers! They are at the bars and golf courses. Nice work if you can get it.
Yeah but you're missing the point. We're not paying them right now and 99% of America isn't being affected in any way shape or form. Government is bloated and fat and the shutdown highlights this perfectly.
Bingo. The useless federal workers are enjoying their little paid vacation just like Lois Lerner is.
Not necessarily. It takes action from Congress to approve.
That link shows the debt still rising.
The deficit though is going down.
Our debt in increasing presumably because of interest payments on the debt we owe.
That is pretty sweet.
Sending it to all I can.
I think because of paying interest on the debt we already owe....the DEFICIT, the amount we spend versus what we take in , is going DOWN...which means we are living within our means WHILE the slimdown is in effect.
And if we can do THAT with little or no hardship for the VAST MAJORITY of Americans then WHY can't we do it all the time?
Okay, thanks.
So we are still digging from the whole we are in, just digging a little slower.
Cheers
Agreed. This shows we can wlive pretty well just by eliminating the EPA. :)
That’s a lot of money we don’t have.
In 10,000 days we will have no deficit.
And if we can do THAT with little or no hardship for the VAST MAJORITY of Americans then WHY can't we do it all the time?
This is the purpose of highlighting it. To show the sheeple the bloated bureaucracy isn't' needed.
Think about it: The WORST horror stories we are hearing about the shutdown is that people...gasp...HAVE to do something else while on vacation because they can't go to a park!
Wow...that's SOME hardship right?
sigh...
Somebody get this to Rush. Maybe he’ll pick up on it.
AS long as when GOP caves they dont pay all those GSes for the time they were off during shutdown. Then it cost more as it did in 1996.
What??
Rush didnt tell his listeners that’s what the GOP (Newt) did in 1996? The big Newt victory??
No. As long as their IS a deficit, we are spending more than we are taking in.
The debt is the accumulation, the deficit is the spending less revenue. We are not digging as fast as we were, but we are still digging our hole.
Watch closer grasshopper. The budget deficit is going down, but the national debt is climbing. In the short time I watched it. We borrowed another $1,000,000; I wish I could talk my bank into letting me do that and print my own money too. At least we are taking a little baby step in the right direction.
Thank you Republicans for not backing down and shutting down the government!
maybe now Americans will realize that government is not needed as nothing is happening even though the gov is shut down
Huh? The debt will rise as long as there is a deficit. You need budget surpluses if you want to reduce the debt. The article is only pointing out that the deficit is decreasing. Not to be confused with the debt.
Yah ya but again the POINT is that the deficit is going down and hardly anyone is being affected.
This is why dems are screaming like stuck pigs. They HAVE to make noise because eventually people will wake up and realize...hey...is the government still shutdown? I didn't even notice.
Sure your'e right..but again that's not the point.
Wholly cow! Sum won takes there grammar way to serious. ;)
I suspect this doesn’t really need explanation among this group, but the national debt will keep rising until the federal government begins producing a surplus. While the deficit is falling at the moment, it’s still a LOOOOOOOOONG way from zero.
It doesn't matter.
The point is that the US government is spending LESS money, right now, and virtually nobody is being negatively affected.
The longer it goes on, the more people will see that the libs cries that we need to constantly increase government spending is just that...a lie.

Shutdown Preparations Prove Most Government Is Waste
http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/093013-673139-most-of-white-house-staff-revealed-as-waste.htm
GREAT POST. THANKS!
I suspect you may need a different approach to your point.
The folks that support a bigger government are not likely convinced by math. They need feelings and emotional support, not facts.
I believe a bigger point to the conservatives is even during a government “shutdown” we are STILL spending more than we take in. This beast is sooooo huge it will take a continuous effort to starve it. We need to not let up if we win the current battles; the war is much larger.
This is both HUGH and SERIES!!!!
Dems would not mind a short (2-3 days) shutdown, because they could turn that into a political goldmine for the 2014 elections.
Dems fear a long shutdown, because they fear many of their supporters might actually realize we dont need many of those government agencies after all.
Pubbies fear a short shutdown, because they know they will get the blame.
Pubbies fear a long shutdown, because they know they will get the blame.
Whoever put this thread in Breaking News, thank you.
Uh...what number is going down? I don’t see it.
Can someone get this out to everybody?
I sent my Republican congressman an e mail today in support of the shut down and got no reply. I sent my most wonderful Dem. senator Feinstein an e mail and got the reply “ As a result of the Government shut down, my office is currently unable to respond to your email. I will respond to your concerns as soon as possible.”
You have to count the interest on the debt as part of what we are spending Vs what we are taking in.
We can’t magically not include it. In fact if interest rates were to rise to 10 percent then I believe that around 100 percent of what we take in would be needed to pay interest on the debt.
I was hoping there would be a visual to represent this, so thanks for the link.
Why should they get paid for work they didn’t do? I don’t get paid for work I don’t do.
