Barricades At Mount Vernon REMOVED
Mount Vernon press response | 10/3/2013 | ladysforest

Posted on 10/03/2013 1:46:16 PM PDT by Ladysforest

Mount Vernon is open. Our parking lots are now open. The barricade was placed in front of Mount Vernon’s parking lots for a short period (less than 3 hours). Once the National Park Service realized that we own the parking lots, the barricades were removed immediately.

Anything you can do to help get the word out that Mount Vernon and its parking lots are open would be much appreciated!

“Once the National Park Service realized they work for a limp-wristed, snippy, little sissy, they took their Barrycades and went home.”

Seems to be plenty of money available for National Park Service agents to truck in and place barricades. Just not enough to let people use the parks apparently.

So obviously a sign of vindictive behavior. They looked at their Federal Budget expenditures on Mount Vernon ($0) and decided to economize by closing it? Nah, they just wanted people to be unhappy even though they didn’t realize they don’t spend a dime to keep it open - none of these closures are cost savers - really, how much did they want to save by closing open areas?

You are correct. Mt Vernon is totally private, and was never connected to the federal government in any way shape or form. It was at one time abandoned and deserted and thankfully rescued by the forerunners of the current Mt Vernon Ladies. It is now an excellent restoration.

The first act of the new President, immediately after being sworn in, should be to order the arrest of Obama, Moochelle, and his entire cabinet on various charges.

I wonder which MORON came up with the plan to barricade it? It is well known that Mount Vernon is privately owned, and always has been. How did they sit there and decide to send NPS goons there to close off access? And the NPS people ought to have known it is private property too.

Stunning.

Yes, it is a fair fee. There are many acres, and many beautifully restored buildings to see, most of which are original. The tour of the mansion is included in the entry fee, and you have the option to pay a few dollars more for specialty tours now.

You get to see the Washington’s bedroom and the actual bed which George Washington died in.

The foundation has done a wonderful job restoring Mount Vernon. It is quite beautiful, especially the yard overlooking the Potomac.

George Washington must have hated each time he left.

Well worth the trip, and the fall is a wonderful time to visit here and Monticello, Jefferson’s home.

My Son-in-Law was driving US 1 into the City of Alexandria today, and saw that some Park Police had attempted to place barriers across US 1, and had given up. They were standing with their arms crossed, barriers knocked down.

I can’t confirm this, but apparently some moron in the White House had maybe looked at a real old map of the district and somehow gotten the idea that portions of Old Town Alexandria was Federal Property?

Did they Barrycade Colonial Parkway in Williamsburg? I could see some rebels coming out of the trees to remove those. Any attempts to Barrycade things like the Liberty Bell? President Barrycade is all about federal control. The relics of the past are reminders of Americans fighting for freedom.

WHOA.....I can believe that.

Did you hear that they are closing places in Philly too? Including a TAVERN that is NOT run by the government, but sits in the historic district?

BTW, The Blaze has now posted a piece on the barricades being removed from Mount Vernon.

I had contacted a bunch of conservative blogs about this, but I think the woman crashing the car and then being shot by DC police is the big focus now.

Actually I think I heard something about Williamsburg, but I haven’t had time to check into it.
