Oct. 3, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) In a move that came as absolutely no surprise to political watchers, who have been expecting the announcement for weeks, Texas Sen. Wendy Davis today made official her run for state governor.
Davis, who rocketed to national prominence and became a darling of the left as a result of a dramatic 11-hour filibuster earlier this summer against a state late-term abortion ban, announced her candidacy via e-mail and social media, before taking the stage at Wiley G. Thomas Jr. Coliseum.
"We love Texas not only for how good it is, but for how great we know it can be," Davis told a crowd of assembled supporters. "With the right kind of leadership, the great state of Texas will keep its sacred promise that where you start has nothing to do with how far you can go."
News of Davis' candidacy drew a swift response from Texas pro-life activists.
Outside the auditorium where Davis made the announcement a group of protesters had already gathered, bearing signs reading, "No to Wendy, No to Murder," according to The Chronicle.
Texas Right to Life issued a statement accusing Davis of being a leader in the war on women, making sure that pregnant women fall prey to the substandard care at Texas abortion mills.
In an ad that will begin playing on radio stations this weekend, the pro-life group labels Davis an "abortion zealot," pointing out that she opposes any limits on abortion, and has called abortion sacred ground.

Wendy Davis puts late term abortion ahead of our faith, our families, and Texas values, says the ad. Wendy Davis believes terminating babies even after 1/2 way through the pregnancy is okay. She is wrong on life, wrong for our children, and wrong for Texas.
Davis filibuster, with the assistance of a mob of unruly protesters who shouted down a vote, temporarily derailed the highly contentious late-term abortion ban, which also included stricter health regulations on abortion clinics, and restrictions on medical abortions. However, the bill subsequently passed after Gov. Rick Perry called a special session.
Perry, considered by many to be one of the strongest pro-life politicians in the country, will be stepping down following the election next November.
In her bid for the governorship, Davis will be going head to head with Texas attorney general, Greg Abbot, who has a strong pro-life record.
"Once again, Texas Democrats are attempting to conjure support for California-style candidates that try to sell Obama's liberal agenda and go against what makes Texas great, said Abbott in a statement released Thursday.
"Nonetheless, we welcome Senator Davis to the race, and look forward to presenting the clear differences and debating the important issues that will preserve the economic miracle in Texas."
Rots of Ruck!
I wonder why she thinks she has a chance? I guess maybe she thinks she will get endorsement of Kay Bailey Hutchinson, and maybe Laura Bush and daughters?
Are they not all openly pro abortion now?
If she could get elected in Texas, then its simply just time to eat drink and be merry (meaning time to give up)
I’m impressed our ad guys in Texas are already bulldozing her. Well-played. Lets take down this ‘rising star’ before she even gets to suffer a crushing defeat. That will s7it on the Dem’s picnic.
Abortion Barbie needs to pay for the babies she’s murdered.
Say hello to new State Senator Konni Burton!!!
The MSM are going to tell us about how she worked so hard to support herself through school and worked when she was 14 and how conservatives and libertarians have never had to work as hard as she does and have not ever had to overcome adversity and lack of privilege like she does. And therefore she has earned the vote of Texans and her opinion on abortion matters more than any conservative or libertarian. Same for her opinions on guns and tax payer funded birth control.
That is what the MSM is trying to do and to be honest, I am a littler worried that it may actually work.
The Washington Post even ran a giant national fundraising pitch for her today, only barely disguised as “news.”
“Wendy Davis stepping on national stage with gubernatorial bid, will need national support”
Yes, seriously, that was the headline.
Yep. Konni’s gonna do it with all of our help.
Why isn’t Anita Perry running? She is the real Wendy Davis in this race.
Hope Konni takes the Witch’s seat. Windy Witch is a big joke — not just because she’s the Abortion Barbie, but because she thinks she can jump from State Senator to Governor. No Thanks, Evil Woman!
On it!...with a nice barf alert to go with it! :P
In the people's republic of Travis County probably so -- but statewide she will lose by 20+
I wouldn’t waste too much $$ running negative ads against her. I think she’ll do herself in. Did you know she had a daughter that she gave up primary custody to her ex hubby and also paid child support. Not exactly the kind of person that will win the votes of the motherly types.
Vote for the Yellow Stain of Texas!
Was her job selling hangers?
I hope she does turn out to be a colossal joke. But I just worry about what will happen when the public hears her story about how she worked since she was 14 and put herself through college and raised children by herself as a teen mom and made it to law school and watch as the MSM tells about how she is an example of how liberals have overcome more adversity and overcome more lack of privilege in their lives and so liberals are more socially aware and caring. WHat are Texans going to do once the MSM shoves this life story down their throats? Are Texans gonna be particularly impressed by her life story and how she grew up?
The official story is that it was selling newspaper subscriptions of some sort and then later as a waitress. For all I know, one of her jobs could have actually been a child sex worker, I would not be surprised by that at all.
I am not impressed with her agenda..I don’t care about her “life story”.
I should have noted that the fundraising piece that ran in the Washington Post was from the Associated Press.
I note that they are trying less and less to be subtle about where their internal biases lie. *Will need national support*, pretty pathetic attempt to hide their personal biases there.
About the only way they could have been any more blatant would have been to say: SEND MONEY NOW!
LOL! Now she is running on a platform of being for the children LOL
Good luck Wendy.
At the end of the day, she wants to allow practically any yahoo to shove a pair of scissors into a baby’s skull, scramble the brains, and suck-out the corpse from the mother’s womb. That is what propelled her to Liberal fame. I have known plenty of hardscrabble folks who didn’t become infanticide fetishists.
Let the DNC send money.
That will be less money for national campaigns.
Greg Abbott hates 3 year old children that escaped 3rd trimester abortions /s
Was she wearing her brown shirt and riding boots and goose stepping to the drum beat of the left? Nothing like having a pro left baby killer running for the governorsship of Texas.
Gee when Davis pulls a filibuster it is acceptable. When Sen. Cruz does it, is is immoral, illegal, improper, and down right dirty.
I hope the good folks of Texas send this starlet bitch back to working the French Fries baskets at Wendy’s.
I cannot believe that a person who takes a stand on the late-term abortion issue makes them qualified to become governor of Texas. This is Bazarro World.
Soo, Ms. Davis,
What makes you think you should be the next Governor of the state of Texas?
Well I do believe in murdering the unborn right up to birth.
Too bad Tammys mom didn’t feel the same way. OTH, I guess it wouldn’t be too late for a late term AB
Abortion Barbie has another wet dream.
“Vote for me to keep Texas baby-free!”
As a Texan, I can safely say this slut probably won’t break 40% in the general election. Understand she has a few too many skeletal remains in her past.
I didn’t know that, but I’m sure that all this stuff will come back to haunt her....I pray for Texas!
Good grief! She doesn’t even see the irony of that platform! I do worry about all the 20-30something low-info voters who never look below the surface. They will just think she’s cute/hot and will love her pink tennis shoes, which I’m sure she’ll drag out to wear again.
“Im impressed our ad guys in Texas are already bulldozing her.”
This tactic worked to great effect against Senator Graham in South Carolina. Ads have been running against Graham for about one year now, which is two years before the 2014 primary. His approval rating has tanked from 71% to 43%.
Go for it, Texans. The strategy has been tested and it works.
Sen. Leticia Van de Putte is rumor to run for the Lt Gov spot thus trying to create an all female ticket at the top.....
She’ll get less than 20%. She won’t even carry her party if she clears the primary.
The local channels here in Austin, aka, Banistan are all in for Abortion Barbie. They have a story on her everyday.
As a Texan, I must say, I’m sick of living in a State that is #1 in job growth and opportunity and is comprised of civil and well armed people with a history of independence.
What I really want is more abortions in this State, done in unregulated ‘back alley’ type clinics. Most importantly, I want abortions performed on babies fully developed in the womb.
If only we were like California.
Abortion Barbie for Texas Governor - 2014
I imagine her folks, who were well known in the theatre/arts community in Ft Worth, assisted Windy with her college expenses.
I'll do everything I can do to support Abortion Barbie's conservative, pro-life opponent....for these little guys...
Very good news.
She will be a money suck in a losing effort.
Her story is the perfect argument against abortion! She was young, not finished with school and not in a stable relationship - all factors against having children, yet she not only succeeded but has risen to heights few reach in their careers......how would killing her children have helped that?
THAT is great!
I thought about that..cute gets votes..sad to say..Surely Texas isn’t so far gone that we elect THIS woman.
