Thank you for your perspective and info. A cops job is hard enough without this kind of screw up adding to it.

First, sorry for the typos.. it is still early on the left coast. Most of the time the law enforcement agencies we work with do a very good job. I can list many more acts of kindness and compassion than act of panic and stupidity... but when they screw up it can be very very bad.

It certainly looks that way now.

We have a cop in the family through marriage. He has had to deal with some very horrific things including a father kidnapping his own son from school and killing himself and the kid. Our marriage in-law found their bodies. An officer had tried to stop the kidnapping at the school but never used a weapon as a child was in the line of fire. (more than one actually) Absolutely heartbreaking. They never imagined the man would murder his own child.

I still can’t believe they had a weapon trained on the baby. What was that baby going to do? Hit them with it’s bottle?!

You and everyone else is letting their emotions overrun their common sense.

You are using the exact same logic process as the loony left.

You are taking what’s known after the fact, inserting it into what took place before the fact, and reaching a conclusion.

Before the fact they had no way of knowing anything.

They didn’t know if her intent was to run over people with her car.

They didn’t know she wasn’t armed.

They didn’t know she didn’t have a car bomb.

They didn’t know she had a baby, wouldn’t matter anyway since muslims aren’t above blowing up babies.

They didn’t know she was a mental case.

They knew nothing about her.

Had they let her drive off and she drove into a crowd of people, got out of her car and started shooting before the car exploded killing 50+ people, you and everyone else would be wondering why they didn’t stop her when they had the chance.

It’s not unusual, when you think of it, for photos where a policeman or solider or even innocent bystander has been injured or killed are not made public. That is most likely to protect the privacy of the injured and his/her family.

Mr. GG2 says its a Crown Vic and the officer got injured when the air bag deployed after he hit a barricade. The Crown Vic is all messed up so why is the Infinity in pristine condition? I thought that lady supposedly hit 2 barrycades.

All I can say is I hope you never have to make a life and death decision as to whether or not you want to stop a potential terrorist before they have a chance to kill hundreds.

Just wondering.

If they had just let her drive off after backing into the police car (yes look at the damage to the back of her car not the front) and hitting the officer, then after letting her go she drove into a crowd of people and detonated a car bomb, would you be asking why they didn’t stop her when they had the chance?

Be honest.

You’re right about one thing, it would be a waste of your time because your thought process is about on par with a 5th grader.

After the 5th grade most people know the difference between before and after the fact.

Get a grip. This wasn’t a terrorist. You are still using yesterdays script.

Here’s a car bomb in Iraq:

The car seems to be moving well enough.

All I can say is you cannot even reach the correct conclusion when facts are presented AFTER THE INCIDENT.

We have a cop in the family through marriage. He has had to deal with some very horrific things including a father kidnapping his own son from school and killing himself and the kid. Our marriage in-law found their bodies.

I am going to be retiring in three months. I am not going off on any type of disability despite the tax advantages. I don't know about the much heralded PTSD and have never gone to see a counselor, but I do know that there is a cumulative effect that takes place. One of my first shifts on the job we went to a little boy who had his penis chewed off and he had been stabbed. I was the first person to evaluate him. It made national news. He survived but a few years later he was killed on his motorcycle.

I used to love my job because mostly it was about helping people and I started out with a thrill seeking personality. There is quite a bit of excitement when responding to emergencies. But after approximately 25 years I no longer look forward to going to work. I have seen a lot of ugly things over the years. Often the police find an ugly scene, but generally it is the fire department that actually cleans up the mess.

So I find that more and more I dread going to work; when the alarms go off I just hope that it won't be something nasty. So I realized that it is time for me to go. I am just hoping to make it through the next three months with nothing too ugly because I have seen enough.

As it was reported here in the D.C. area, the woman was shot after she got out of her car. But if an LEO wants to shoot someone that made him look stupid....well, I guess all he has to do is cry "terrorist!"

Personally, I see shades of Ruby Ridge, and bet that no one will be punished.

If you had someone shooting at you and you did NOT know they were a cop, would you stop?

No. I'd try to get away and/or do my damnedest to run HIM over.

Which is why I think she was more a victim than a perp.

That’s an “after the fact” argument.

Until you can make an argument to support your position based on what was known before the fact, you don’t have an argument.

You simply have an emotional response.

Police and firemen see the worst and the best of people. It's such an emotional roller coaster. You guys aren't Superman and it takes it's toll.

I wish you all the best!

Just wondering, at the time she was shot how did they know she wasn’t a terrorist?

Did they know at that time what her intent was in ramming a barricade?

Do we even know now what her intent was?

As far as you or anyone else knows she may have snapped and decided to run over people she thought were republican members of congress with her car.
