The Insiders: The World War II Memorial is not a political prop
Washington Post ^ | Oct 3, 2013 | Ed Rogers

Posted on 10/04/2013 6:40:16 AM PDT by Innovative

Team Obama was too ambitious in its play to use the World War II Memorial as a prop in the campaign to blame Republicans for the government shutdown. If you’ve ever been to the World War II Memorial, you know that it is an open space at street level. Under normal circumstances, government personnel have no role in admitting or denying access to the memorial.

Real effort had to be taken and precise instruction had to be given to round up barricades and have them installed in a clumsy, visible way that would block pedestrians from entering the memorial. It was an effort to supply a pathetic visual that would highlight the sad dysfunction of the government in Washington, and obviously blame Republicans. It will be worth knowing – and I hope Congress pursues it – the precise steps that had to be taken through the government’s organization chart to deploy resources to place barricades that would trap American veterans in a photo-op intended to serve the president’s political interest.

Democrats hate anyone who removed Hitler. JFK loved the creep.

“There is no low Obama is not willing to sink to for political gain...”

Whoever thought up to put barriers around an open air memorial, is the lowest of scum. Every time I think there is nothing more Hussein could do to destroy us, he does something else that is worse then he has done before. This insane action takes the cake, however I have thought that many times and then he did something worse.

In my opinion, Hussein is evil.

Either that, or she gave birth to Reggie Love’s ‘love child’, and that she went to the White House to confront ‘the other woman’.

This admin is getting very, very close to what Nicolae Ceausescu was.

Give it a year.

One thing hasn't come up...process. Where is the budget item to build barricades? Did they get a building permit? An environmental impact report? An analysis on the impact it would have on pedestrian and traffic flow, on public safety? Did the job go out for bid (without funds!)? Were the detours etc properly indicated, with lead time?

There are so many creative ways those barricades could've been stopped. I'm not going to say awww, those poor park service people. What did they do to stop it?

Only those three HOR 'pubs actually DID something.

Liberals start from the assumption that leftists who seek and attain power are morally and intellectually superior to everyone else.

Intellectually, yes. Morally, they couldn't care less. To be 'moral' means to impose limits on human behavior. That is the last thing they want...............

George Bush would neve have allowed this to happen...

Heck, Dennis Kucinich would not have allowed this to happen. He was always a leader on veterans' issues.

This is the standard play list for the left.

Every time there is a budget crisis they pick the most obvious public settings to shut down.

There never seems to be a department that is not vital, only the parks, public spaces, museums and anything else the public may interact with the government will be shut down.

And the lap dog media will immediately go out and do stories on any one that is at lease inconvenient by the shut down.

There will never be any story on why the crisis happened (other than blame Republicans). Nor will there be any stories on the cliff we are all heading towards if we do not get our financial affairs in order.

If the Democrats win, we lose.

Hey Mr. and Miss. Journalist, I have news for you, when this train goes over the cliff, you are also on it. You will also feel the pain.

Oh, but I assert that sheeperals’ driving motivation is to feel self-righteous (by their own standard, of course),

and this is why they attribute “goodness” on their leaders,
and impute “goodness” on themselves for supporting them.

Maybe “righteous” would be more appropriate than “moral” when describing what they assume about leftists in power.

“Where is the budget item to build barricades?”

This could be one of many reasons that Congress has stopped using the (formerly required) Constitutional budget method of a budget then appropriations bills with specific instructions.

Instead they pass gargantuan “continuing resolution” bills which don’t contain a budget nor specific designations for spending.

When the R’s take back the White House,

So how often will it need to be pointed out that Obama could have, should have been defeated in a landslide loss in the last election. It would have been a loss of historic embarrassment.

But 4 MILLION conservatives DID NOT VOTE! 4 million.

So what do you think will change anything? Newt, Perry, Cain, Paul Romney, even Santorum all would have been better than Obama. But 4 million conservatives were not voting.

So what makes you think the next election will be any different?

4 MILLION did not vote. What was the good reason they instead (by not voting) decided to elect obama. Worse by dong that they voted to be sure that my tag line comes true......

Were you one of those non-voters? If so you can NOT complain. You elected Obama and assured that SCOTUS would be liberal for the rest of your life...maybe forever.

If you disagree please post here.

I voted. I didn’t like Romney but I voted for him. I was really disappointed in how things turned out AFTER South Carolina and the First Debate.

I’m extremely disappointed in the elite GOP after running Dole, McCain AND Romney.

I hated all the debates and all the party in-fighting that provided ammunition to the D’s. I hated the R’s that stuck their foot in their mouths and lost a couple of key Senate races, both in 2012, 2010 and even 2008. Which kept Dirty Harry in his position today.

Now that all the revelations of the IRS and their dirty work since 2010 targeting conservatives has come to light, but still that doesn’t not get those 4 million voters to the polls. It will take something monumental to bring about an election like we had in 1980 to wake up far too many in this country. I thought 2012 would be like 1980. Sadly, this country has changed. Santa Claus won.

The 2012 election was lost in the minority and Jewish precincts of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Madison, Denver, etc., through ballot box stuffing. Remember that the Democrats have a tradition of corruption at the ballot box dating back to the 19th Century. John Kennedy owed his 1960 victory to Democratic politicians in Illinois and Texas who ran huge margins in cities and counties they controlled. It is not discussed often, but Jimmy Carter won New York and the electoral college in 1976 when additional Democrat votes came in from three of New York City's five boroughs after the rest of the state and the two other boroughs had been counted.

The old school techniques of Richard Daley and Tammany Hall have been enhanced through the Saul Alinsky school of leftist activism. Until the GOP confronts corrupt Democrat urban machines, it will continue to lose elections. However, given the lack of courage on the part of most Republican politicians, I am not optimistic.

Now they even reinforced the barricades:

WWII Memorial Barricade Wired Shut

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/wired-shut-barricade-wwii-memorial-reinforced_759193.html

“On Tuesday morning, seven National Park Service employees were seen erecting and tending to a barricade around the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. One NPS employee was operating a forklift. There usually aren’t any NPS employees working at the World War II memorial.

A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress, the fences blocking the memorial were easily moved away, allowing the veterans to enter.

But the barriers are still at the memorial, and they’ve been reinforced. This morning, I walked by the memorial and noticed that wires had been used to tie the fences together:
