WWII Memorial Barricade Wired Shut
Weekly Standard ^ | OCT 4, 2013 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Tuesday morning, seven National Park Service employees were seen erecting and tending to a barricade around the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. One NPS employee was operating a forklift. There usually aren't any NPS employees working at the World War II memorial.

A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress, the fences blocking the memorial were easily moved away, allowing the veterans to enter.

But the barriers are still at the memorial, and they've been reinforced. This morning, I walked by the memorial and noticed that wires had been used to tie the fences together:

That’s great! Thanks for calling.
Wonder if the WH fed them the storyline so they printed it.
Yes,we must be polite (which FReepers usually are) as the WA Post is one that aligns with the Democrats and the Prez.

Wonder if the WA Times is interested?

“Bangalore torpedoes like at Normandy should do the trick.”

I was thinking the same thing. Some of these guys went home with interesting “souvenirs”.

“Indeed, looks like it’s very easy to cut. I wonder if someone was ordered to wire them together and just for spite used the thinnest wire he could find.”

Interesting idea! I did read on the 1st day of the Barrycades, that one of the Rangers was a Vet and was looking the other way as the Pubbie congresscritters opened the Barrycades and the Vets and their companions walked through.

Of course, with the sequester and the gov’t slowdown (a.k.a. shutdown), maybe they couldn’t afford a thicker mil of wire ;-)

I get a vicarious thrill (but not up my leg ALA Chris (the drunk) Matthews) but a thrill none the less....imagining an 88 something year old kicking the crap out of a Democrap or anyone from the current administration, trying to keep them out of the WWII museum

To be perfectly honest, confronting these Park Rangers is not the correct course...

The Secretary of the Interior, and the President of the United Staes are to be held accountable for this outrage!!!

Not even the fact that I am a Veteran myself, should I be afforded an exception I am anyone else needs to visit these memorials, any of them!!!

I just got off the phone with my guy up there, and he said he and some of the Texas Delegation are signing a letter condemning these restrictions...

Big Deal!!! Nothing will be read, nothing will be done...

Plane fare is going to be a real bear of a deal, and if we have to “occupy” these facilities, then that sounds to me lie a really good idea...But I am thinking there are not enough of us, and too few that could afford such a road trip...Much less the time...

I would not waste a breath on the Park Rangers...

I imagine a nice folding chair, and a good book, and I’d be snug as a bug in a rug...

Are there any D.C. or area FReepers out there thining of the same thing???

FReepmail me if there is something going on...Keep this off the public forum as much as possible till that button is pushed!!!

That looks like evidence wire. You could probably break it with your hand. If not just twist it with a screw driver.
