WaPo’s lost their mojo.
Only the most stupid (e.g., in side the beltway)dorks believe them any more.
Warning to Republicans...do this and you’re history.
Wishful thinking by Dems. Hey, how’s that “We Won’t Negotiate” slogan workin’ out for ‘em?!
I hope the Republican house leadership is making sure that it is known that any Republican House member who’s name appears on said petition will become persona-non-grata in the party and lose his or her committee assignments.
How are they going to force the GOP? Have another Reid tantrum hissy fit?
Peter King probably has his fingers in this somewhere. He needs to get a serious attitude adjustment by the leadership or his constituents.
They’re desperate to hide the Dems’ blocking of SNAP and WIC funds this afternoon.
Every day it’s a new fantasy story about the “moderates revolt”, which never happens. Boehner is protecting these “moderates” from having to vote on the “clean CR” and they love him for it.
The dope Lankford needs to go back to Falls Creek and soak his head before he resumes his vital work as program director there.
But now House Democrats say they have found a previously filed bill to use as a discharge petition one that would fund the government at sequester levels.
The bill in question is the Government Shutdown Prevention Act, which was introduced in March by GOP Rep. James Lankford of Oklahoma. As the Congressmans release describes it:
If Congress fails to approve a budget by the end of each fiscal year, the Government Shutdown Prevention Act would ensure that all operations remain running normally without any interruption of services by automatically triggering a continuing resolution (CR) or short-term, stop-gap spending device. The bill creates an automatic CR for any regular appropriations bill not completed before the end of the fiscal year. After the first 120 days, auto-CR funding would be reduced by one percentage point and would continue to be reduced by that margin every 90 days
Boehner has taken a hard stand yet too many here are openly complaining about him...I dont understand this. Look at the 24 Rs siding with RATS!
I support Boehners efforts...
What a stupid headline.
Harry and Barack are the only ones keeping it “shutdown”
No, too many of the 18 that were supposed to cave have promised Conservative talk show hosts that it was all lies. dims always lie... it is all that they have.
Any RINO who votes with the RATs has no political career left, IMO.
Brendan Buck @Brendan_Buck
Ah, the old discharge petition move. Zero percent of the time it works every time.
Republicans have been quietly revolting and are showing support for a clean CR, including:
Peter T. King of New York,
Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania,
Michael G. Grimm of New York,
Mike Simpson of Idaho,
Devin Nunes of California,
C.W. Bill Young of Florida,
Erik Paulsen of Minnesota,
Frank A. LoBiondo of New Jersey,
Leonard Lance of New Jersey,
Jon Runyan of New Jersey,
Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania,
Jim Gerlach of Pennsylvania,
Michael G. Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania,
Patrick Meehan of Pennsylvania,
Frank R. Wolf of Virginia,
J. Randy Forbes of Virginia,
Rob Wittman of Virginia and
Scott Rigell of Virginia.
1. The House of Reps has reportedly passed all the budget bills needed to fully fund the entire Leviathan (excepting of course Obammycare)
2. the Obama says he will not negotiate with the Congress
Speaker Boehner should give a one minute speech pointing the above out, recess the House, and let the members go home.
the House has done its job. The rest is now up to the Senate and Obama.
easy solution. (and if the House is not in session, quisling members can’t sell out what the House has already accomplished)
GOP stand your ground and We the People will stand with you. If you surrender, we will walk all over you.
God save the Republic.......
Gotta give credit to the Dems for using all available rules to their advantage. When conservatives try to take advantage of the rules to advance their agenda, the RINOs tell us it’s “inappropriate” and “disrespectful.”
At last count, as many as = we’re just making it up.
I see this story as very good news. There’s no way the Dims would even be thinking about this if they were decisively winning the PR war, like all the media say they are. I think they are the ones feeling the pressure, being willing to end the shutdown with such a maneuver. Highly unlikely it happens though — for the very same reason. If the moderate RINO types think they are at least breaking even holding the line, they have no reason to risk political suicide by signing a Pelosi-led petition.
Every republican who agrees with this should be kicked out of the party. Tell the to go ahead and officially join the democrats.
How would the Dems get by this? Make the Boner whine and cry till he agrees to their demands?
