CBS ^

Posted on 10/04/2013 12:24:58 PM PDT by Java4Jay

Law enforcement sources confirmed that Miriam Carey told police in December that she was a prophet, that President Obama would place the city of Stamford under a "lockdown" and that he had her and her residence under electronic surveillance. The encounter led to Carey being taken for a mental-health evaluation.

...and that he had her and her residence under electronic surveillance.

Well, she was correct in that assessment. Dems are starting to realize the harsh reality of what Obama really stands for, and for some, it's too much to handle.

We are doing a disservice giving freedom to the seriously mentally ill. Just as we can’t give freedom to our parents with alzheimers (I have two, living with an angel of a caregiver) or our toddlers (got one of them, too - I don’t let her go for a walk down the street alone!), we should not give freedom to our loved ones and fellow citizens who are mentally ill to the point of breaking with reality. Period.

Anyone who is consistently on meds and perfectly functioning is fine, but there should be a swift test for psychosis and then removal from unsupervised freedom. Families and private organizations can do the supervision for all who are not violent or potentially harmful; then, sadly, we need Cuckoo’s Nests. I say this as someone from a mental health background and I say it sadly because I love freedom, but I’ve thought about this A LOT and freedom isn’t so when you aren’t mentally stable.

There is a lot of grey to be thought through, but we are giving too much freedom to some, at our and their peril.

After the mental health evaluation she was treated with the most current Obombo care approved treatment : a lethal dosage of lead.

Carey apparently did not have a weapon, but did have a 1-year-old girl in the car with her.

Wha?

Authorities who searched Carey’s apartment in Stamford found risperidone, a medication to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, a law enforcement source said. They also found escitalopram, an antidepressant commonly prescribed under the brand name Lexapro.

I guess she was okay...../s

We have both an emerging mental health problem and a mental health delivery problem. Unfortunately, it is hidden under the political veil of gun control.

Ok, so she say’s ‘President Obama would place the city of Stamford under a “lockdown” and that he had her and her residence under electronic surveillance’...

during a law-enforcement-initiated mental health evaluation...

and yet...

law enforcement did not notify the Secret Service about her so they could add her name to the list of possible threats to the President.

Difficult for the left to admit there is a problem because it was their over-reaction to a situation that needed tweaked not radically changed that has created the current crisis
Yes it IS a crisis: Just talk with anyone who is currently trying to get help for a loved one.

Another article said that the state social worker said she was just peachy in January. A couple of things: maybe she was on meds and was responding well at that point; and the mentally ill are pretty crafty. I have worked with them, and I know that they are pretty good at knowing what they should say to get a clean bill of health. They are, after all, mentally ill, and at a certain point, it’s like being possessed: they almost end up trying to protect their illness and keep it from being treated. Very strange.

But a social worker should have known that, and in any case, why didn’t they send her for a psychiatric evaluation rather than a chat with the “state social worker?” After all, there was a child involved.

We are doing a disservice giving freedom to the seriously mentally ill.

<><><>

Modifying the term mentally ill with the word seriously is pretty meaningless. In that usage, seriously isn’t at all measureable.

What defines serious mental illness? Behavior, from where I sit. So we’re still stuck - even in your construction - with waiting for them to do something, to behave in a way that speaks to ‘danger to yourself or others’.

If you have another way of determining who is and is not mentally ill, I’d like to hear it.

I agree. I know of one person who needs attention, but won’t get any. There is nothing anyone can do to force her into care, everyone has to just stand around and pretend not to see what they are seeing.

This time, I'd be with them! We're so cowed that we just accept that our rulers will gun us down for trespassing. The USSR didn't shoot Mathius Rust!!! The Chinese didn't shoot that kid in front of the tanks. In the USSA, they'd be slaughtered.

In America, Vice-President Teddy Roosevelt was once pelted with mudballs by striking newspaper boys. He cussed them out. End of story. Think about it.

Don’t know the laws of your state, but here in Maryland, a family member can go to the circuit court and swear out a warrant to have the individual picked up for observation, which means a 72 hour stay with mental health professionals.

A lawyer friend suggested this approach for my mother, who had been hospitalized a handful of times for going off her bipolar meds.

Of course, the fact that not long before that an elderly woman was shot and killed by the cops serving one of those warrants (she threatened them with a knife apparently), sis and I did it the long and hard way again (5 or 6 times in 15 years) - by taking her to the ER and having the on call shrink evaluate her. No fewer than a 12-18 hour process.

Another completely unsourced allegation. Since they can’t justify her murder, they must destroy her character at any costs. Once again it’s conveniently anonymous “law enforcement sources” making a claim being reported straight by a member of the MSM with no verification whatsoever.

(Mind you, if the information is actually true, these “law enforcement sources” are breaking the law (HIPAA) by publicly disclosing her private medical records. Some “law” enforcement we got there.)

Bottom line, even if every slur against her is completely true, none of it justifies the police murdering her. None of it. The US does not legally have a death penalty for failure to obey the police.

How is it that a woman with mental issues since a fall in April 2012 had custody of her child? When she started with the crazy talk it seems like someone should have stepped in to take care of that baby. Didn’t her family have concerns?

Woman gets lost in DC on her way to see the Won, Protect DC exercise in progress has streets blocked, Woman turns corner and is confronted by a gaggle of Rambo’s who read the baby on board sign wrong because reading was not on the Rambo test.

After gaggle of Rambo confront said woman driver on SSRI (crazy pills) she freaks out and throws car in reverse to escape Rambo’s.

Rambo’s jump into their souped up cars and give chase radioing to lift street barrycades! Where several cop cars are destroyed running full speed into said barrycades!

Woman with child screaming in rear seat sees no way out now is stopped at other end of street by more Rambo’s with even more guns.

Weapons drawn, screaming out “orders” to “very” upset mom, with baby screaming louder, Rambo’s do the only thing training allows them to do. Execute!

Congress saved from drawing swords to protect capital.

Rambo hero’s saved the capital from a lost mentally unstable Barry supporter. Applause from the floor for saving us!

All cops go home safe except the ones who crashed their cars into the Barrycades.

We Sleep soundly tonight knowing DC is safe from lost drivers.

That about covers it.

Except for the poor dead woman who did what?

Death penalty for lost DC drivers!
