time to begin program to move monuments from the Feds to State hands
Obama is a manchild who threw a temper tanrum when he wanted Bush to sign the “stimulus” deal in November 2008 and he continues to stomp his foot when things don’t go his way.
Apologies to you both - I didn’t see your link to the story in the earlier post and I don’t do Facebook.
“America is closed! You no lookee! You keep going!” - A fundaMENTALly transformed park ranger.
No problem - people need to know!
There is entirely too much land in Federal hands.

The best way to restore access to all national parks, including Mount Rushmore, is for Speaker Boehner and the House to pass a clean continuing resolution and end the government shutdown, Plumart said.
Johnson, you're going to wind up eating those words.
Safety precaution? Safety from what? You mean that turnouts on the highway are not safe?
True. The National Parks should be returned to the states for local administration to avoid this type of political revenge upon the citizenry.
South Dakota has to build some roundabouts into their road system near the monument. As we saw in DC, roundabouts completely confuse the cops.
We should form a human chain around the white house. Force the government to send out troops with riot gear.
Do it on October 17th.
Have lots of veterans there.
I KNEW THEY WOULD GO AFTER THE HIGHWAYS!
The National Park Service. “Now we know how IRS employees felt during the 2008 and 2012 elections.”
Obama choosing his battles...F
I saw a photo earlier, of helicopters holding a big sheet over Mount Rushmore. That belongs on this thread.
And downright almost exactly what a security guard told me when I was in a line inching along to view the US Constitution. As I got close and leaned over to focus on the parchment, the writing, the texture, to see the document, the “guard” hollered at me “Move! Move now! Don’t read it.”
I am not kidding.
I agree with you
The sheet is obvious photoshop - doesn’t belong here. It must have been a joke.
Remember this the next time the retarded Kommie Kollege Kiddies say they want to put the Kenyan’s mug on Mt. Rushmore. He’s the only bastard to ever forbid Americans from seeing it.

I’m of the opinion that the extreme national parks closure it meant to impact the red states and red areas. The 40%+ die hard obama voters living in the blue areas don’t give a crap about the impact to people living in and deriving their incomes from proximity to national parks.
And those die hard blue suck voters who work for the park service are going to get back pay anyway so their discomfort is minimized.
I am calling my state and local representatives about this matter, the administration’s donation of 445 million to the corporation of public broadcasting, and other things. I have gotten through to some of them (Palazzo for one) and spoken to a staffer. Others (Cochran for one) have a message, like that of the ‘rats, saying that their offices are “partially closed and understaffed due to the shutdown”. This has pizzed me off, and I told them so in no uncertain terms. Why are they taking the ‘rat line, when the stalwart Republican congressmen don’t seem to have a problem being available, or at least not using the rat party line as their excuse? I told them that I hoped their parrotting of the rat party excuse wasn’t indicative of anything worse, and that if it is, I’ll never forgive them. I’ll do everything in my meager power to see them lose if they’re trying to undermine the first time in years our representatives have actually represented us as they were elected to do.
We need to OCCUPY these public spaces, mostly publicly-funded (if you count tax money, completely). At least we wouldn’t be trespassing on private property, which the MSM praised the left for doing. We’d be OCCUPYING the people’s property.
I would have yelled at that ahole guard, “Many members of my family fought in many wars to defend this document, so *UCK YOU! I’ll take my time reading it.”
Let them arrest me.
It was photoshopped?!!! I’m shocked! Shocked I tells ya!
Yes, it was a joke. Or more accurately, satire. Political satire. And good political satire at that. If I come across it again, I’ll post it here.
Anyone getting tired of hearing the word ‘clean’?
There is a stunning view of Mt. Rushmore framed by a tunnel on Iron Mountain Road...near one of the pig-tail bridges...wonder if they have blocked that somehow...
It's making me feel dirty.
+1
Nevermind, I see that some other FReepers posted it here.
Have you noticed it gets harder and harder to tell what is satire and what isn’t? I knew the photo of the sheet and helicopters was satire, but I also thought this whole story about putting up cones to prevent the viewing of Mount Rushmore was satire.
He may do exactly that if the cones come back up after the snow is cleared. I think perhaps we should all email him with that very idea.
He’s a spoiled brat, is what he is.
Liberty, I’m quaking in that I do not put your post #20 photo beyond bh0; especially after his order to close part of the ocean in Florida. Valerie Jarrett must be cackling her lungs out over punishing American citizen aka “little people” in her view, of this nation
Yeah, it’s hard to know these days. Who would have thought they’d post a guard with a German Shepherd at the Vietname memorial today? Another veteran’s memorial that is totally outdoors.
I think Valerie Jarrett initiated the order to close the national parks.
I concur
That road is probably State property. They should arrest the federal employees doing this.
Time for governors to place guards on these lands - let the Feds go to court.
I’m quite sure my HUMMER would be able to successfully navigate any cone obstructions, or topple them all for that matter.
For sure...we have one at a large intersection, and when it was first built ten years ago, the first crash was a deputy sheriff who plowed right through it headon.
