Obamacare's winners and losers in Bay Area
Mercury News ^ | 10/7/2013 | Tracy Seipel

...Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.

Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four.

Sticker-shock is just starting to set in. The middle-class is seeing just HOW MUCH they will be paying extra, thanks to ObamaCare, and they are NOT going to be happy.

The Repubs just have to stall a little bit longer, and ObamaCare's negatives will turn into an albatross around the necks of Reid, Pelosi and Obama.

Funny how they do not state the other winners who are exempt from this bull crap...

Redistribution bubble politics for idiots is what it is.

I have been reading the posted comments to this article all morning. Very entertaining in a schadenfreude sort of way.

Bay area. Losers? I know there are a lot of good folks in kali and they are “stuck” there for many and various reasons. Too bad such a beautiful place is run by didiots like moonbeam jerry and his ilk. Population centers full of “gim-mes” control the election outcomes and like lbj said, give them just enough and I’ll have them “N’s” voting democrat for 200 years. Looks like it worked.

It will blow up in the first 3 months of the year, when the uninformed find out what deductibles and co-insurance really mean. You can tell them all you want and they will not get it. They still believe O bummer is giving them free healthcare.

Yup, you can tell them all you want but until they experience it they’ll never believe it. They believe what they want to hear until they experience it. This is why it must be continued and not delayed or defunded. The shut-down must continue though... it must continue to negotiate the debt ceiling.

obastard care will fail and the sheeple will demand it to end but the ending will be another mess as well. When has government ever done anything right since the Interstate system was built? What?

If this goes right, Dem's may never win another election. If not, we still suck.

But they get enough free birth control for anyone, no matter how "active" in return for that $1800 or $10k. Free is good. That has to count for something.

Best line in the article:
"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."

Well who did you think was going to pay for it you moron? Turns out free is pretty expensive.

"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."

Agreed. That is one of the best lines ever. And there's something else in the article, which makes that great line even greater:

"Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama."

One more time:

"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."

"I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today,"

Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.

"I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this.

Delusional liberals almost see the light.

Hey, the really great thing about KommieKare is you don’t have to actually buy it until you’re really ill and really need health insurance! At that point, who cares what it costs! In the mean time, just use the ER for free like all the illegal aliens do.

Sure, theoretically you’ll be fined for not having insurance, but who cares? The fines for not having insurance are peanuts compared to actual insurance and Congress forbids the IRS from collecting the fines other than subtracting them from any refund you might get. So just make sure you never get a refund. Besides, if you don’t file taxes you don’t have to pay the fines anyway, and several groups are exempted from buying KommieKare based on religious grounds too, plus there are at least two dozen hardship grounds for not paying the fines as well.

KommieKare is a socialist’s wet dream come true: everyone gets everything for free and no one ever has to work to get it! So, take a chill pill everyone and enjoy the ride on the KommieKare train wreck express! (Just remember, you were warned but didn’t listen, oh, and not a single Republican in Congress voted for this monstrosity.)

I was explaining this to a friend. He says "Wait, women over 50 have to have insurance that covers maternity?", and I tell him "Yep, the only way they make enough money is if they got lots of people paying for stuff they will be unlikely to use".

That only works for illegal aliens and the judgement-proof.

A middle-class uninsured who uses the ER will find himself with a multi-thousand-dollar bill, which will be sent to collection agencies, who will take you to court to recover the money if they have to seize your house to do it.

That is incorrect information. If you don’t enroll during the enrollment period, you are SOOL.

A change in your life that can make you eligible for a Special Enrollment Period to enroll in health coverage. Examples of qualifying life events are moving to a new state, certain changes in your income, and changes in your family size (for example, if you marry, divorce, or have a baby).

Enrollment Instructions for Qualifying Life Events

You have 45 calendar days from the date of the qualifying event to add, delete or change health
benefits and/or coverage levels.
Qualifying Events / Family Status Changes
Open enrollment is your opportunity to enroll in or change benefit plans. It occurs once each year
as announced. Once you enroll, you may not change your elections until the next open enrollment
period unless you experience a qualifying life event or family status change. Changes must be
consistent with the event or status change. A qualifying event or family status change is any of
these events:
· Your marriage or divorce, annulment, or legal separation,
· A birth, adoption or change in a child’s custody,
· A change in your or your spouse’s employment status, including part-time, full-time or
retirement,
· A change in your child’s (age 19 through 25) employment status,
· A change in your or your spouse’s insurance (cost or coverage) from your or your spouse’s
prior employer or insurance carrier,
· An unpaid leave of absence taken by you or your spouse,
· Your dependent child no longer meets the eligibility requirements of a dependent,
· The death of your spouse, domestic partner or child,
· Your relocation out of your plan’s coverage area,
· Your domestic partnership ends, or
· Your spouse’s open enrollment period,
· Change in dependent eligibility due to a plan design change.
If you are affected by a family status change, contact your Benefits Coordinator or the Health &
Benefits Office. You will need to supply written documentation of the qualifying event and complete
an Application for Benefit Enrollment form to change your coverage within 45 days of the event.
You may enroll for coverage or add/drop a dependent from your existing coverage that is consistent
with your family status change to the extent it is necessary or appropriate as a result of the status
change. Such changes must be accompanied by documentation sufficient to verify the event.
However, you cannot change to a different medical plan option until the next open enrollment
period. Failure to notify the Health & Benefits Office in writing within the 45-calendar day period
may result in a loss or delay of coverage for your dependents until the next open enrollment period.
If you should have dropped dependents and did not do so timely, you may be responsible for the
cost of single coverage or claims incurred, whichever is greater.
The enrollment instructions are essentially the same as for newly eligible employees except for the
following:
· No retroactive changes will be made
· Newborns are covered from date of birth once enrolled
· Complete the form with only the changes you are requesting
Participation of individual medical providers and facilities is subject to change without
notice. Any provider or facility change is not a qualifying event to change medical plans.

If the taxpayer has to pay for that worthless b***’s birth control, then she should get a hysterectomy so she will never, ever procreate.
