NBC News Exclusive: How the SEAL Raid on Somalia Went Bad (Obama Sets up SEAL Team 6?)
NBC News ^ | Monday, October 7, 2013 | Matthew Cole and Jim Miklaszewski

Posted on 10/07/2013 3:32:36 PM PDT by kristinn

The team of less than two dozen Navy SEALs from Seal Team 6 huddled in one fast boat and headed toward the Somali shoreline under the cover of darkness in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Three more small boats with additional SEALs flanked the assault team’s craft, to provide back-up and assist with the planned extraction of an al Shabaab warlord named Ikrima.

According to multiple U.S. military sources, the lead boat landed, and the assault team hit the beach near the Southern Somali town of Barawe, headed for the fortified seaside compound of their target. U.S. intelligence had determined that Ikrima, one of two terror suspects targeted by the military in simultaneous raids thousands of miles apart this weekend, planned the terror group’s operations outside of Somalia.

The SEALs entered the compound and took the positions they had selected based on the intelligence collected in advance of the raid.

Then a lone al Shabaab fighter walked out into plain view, smoked a cigarette, and went back inside, one source familiar with the details of the raid said. The fighter played it cool, and gave no indication that he had spotted the SEALs. But he came back out shooting, firing rounds from an AK-47 assault rifle.

Soon the American commandos were under siege from the warlord’s well-armed fighters. Gunfire swept toward their positions and grenades began to rain down, multiple military sources said.

Several of the SEALs could see Ikrima through the windows of the compound, but couldn’t get to him. The SEALs continued to take fire while trying to find a way to get closer to their target.

And then the children came into the pictures on their scopes.

Let's hope the SEALs remedy the ongoing problem of being killed or embarrassed by Team Barry. Maybe Chris Kyle can get something started. Oh wait..

Pretty sad that my FIRST thought upon hearing about this failed attack was that they were sent into an ambush by our own government. Even ONE SEAL left alive after the OBL mission is one too many for Team Barry to tolerate.

BOMBSHELL: Was the downing of SEAL Team 6's CH-47 helicopter an inside job?

Anybody notice the similarity's between the Somalia Black Hawk Down incident and Benghazi?

Both involved a Clinton.

Both denied request for more security/military assets

Both got Americans killed

Both Clinton's avoided any accountability.

Today, one is a Rock Star former President and one is in line to be the next President.

Maybe, someday we will read about a successful SEAL mission against a thug at his vacation estate on the Hawaiian coast.

They had raided the area before. Place sounds like it may have had external security systems installed since. If the place was lighted (could see through windows) should have disrupted power first, even a momentary shut off would have screwed most systems up.

I guess OpSec and secrecy on methods and tactics is old school.

Nice touch with the cannon-fodder kids, a check-mate move if there ever was one.

Seals hit what they shoot at. I’ve never seen someone bad mouth the SEALs here before.

Especially considering these guys have almost certainly seen more action then you’ve seen on TV.

Just like the plot of a Vince Flynn novel with super star Mitch Rapp. I believe “Executive Power”.

A weak (and traitorous) Secretary of State (ala Kerry) did not wish to offend the foreign leader and invade his sovereignty so he told that country, which in turn told the bad guys who were paying them off. Seals met hot lead on the beach

These leaks are unacceptable and need to stop. I have never seen more laundry aired about our Special Forces than we have under this administration. Maybe it’s all the wannabe movie stars, maybe it’s the wannabe important politicians, or maybe it’s the wannabe film advisor senior guys.

It’s truly disturbing and we need to put some folks in prison for a long time to stop it. Stealth is one of the biggest advantages our special forces have and it’s hard to have it when khat chewing Muzzies can watch realistic films starring real SF guys and our media broadcast our successes and failures.

Just my .02, but I am really ticked off about these leaks.

the Taliban is inside the WhiteHouse.

I found it odd anti-war/pro-Muslim Brotherhood Democrats would be chanting they got Bin laden & Alqueda is on the run...just didn’t set right knowing they want to talk to the Taliban.

Of course not. Obama just phones his fellow Muzzies in Somalia as to what’s going on.

And wearing Red Shirt cologne.

“Red Shirt Cologne instills confidence, showing the universe your strength, your valor, your devotion to living each day as though it could be your last. Bright, clean, and direct with top notes of green mandarin, bergamot and a hint of lavender. Red Shirt finishes strong with base notes of leather and grey musk. It’s a daring men’s fragrance for those brave enough to place no trust in tomorrow.”

The seals supposedly said that the target appeared briefly at a window. If he had been tipped, he would not have been in the compound.

Muzzies love a good jihad especially when the odds look to be in their favor. The warlord was there, he had the children ready to go as human shields. Then warlord received a call from the District of Criminals telling him that the SEAL team was right outside their door. Then the Muzzies started firing blindly into the night hoping to hit someone but miraculously did not.

They were set up.
