WASHINGTON (AP) Now in its second week, the partial government shutdown has taken its toll on the White House, where about 3 of 4 staffers have been furloughed, barred even from checking the BlackBerrys they usually clutch like worry beads.
Of the 1,701 advisers, assistants, number-crunchers, butlers, chefs and landscapers who work at the White House on a normal day, fewer than 450 are on duty, according to President Barack Obama's budget office. The rest fall under an unfortunate label that has kept hundreds of thousands of federal workers home: "non-essential."

1701 White House...employees.....WTF...
A private business could probably do it with under 500 employess...or less
The Obama’s need to be kicked out. The government is shutdown. Why are they allowed to occupy?
Mooch can cook her own damn beenie weenies in her own house not on government land.
What about the guy who walks Bo & his mate, and who cleans up the White Hut lawn after them, for $100,000?
Non-essential. There is much meaning in that term.
BTTT - Throw all the parasites out..
No. That is not true. Is it?
why would these socialists buy a Toyota Prius from an evil capitalist company like Toyota ? why don't they buy a car from a government like DC, the UN , or any government (local state or national)? oh that's right government can't produce a quality automobile to compete with a private for profit company. lol
It's also funny that democrats buy a Prius to save the planet from the global warming hoax when a mini Ice age is really coming( according to the Sun's solar cycle)
Typical tolerant and compassionate lib/prog schtick---get the taxpayers to subsidize endless do-good programs "for the poor" .......and make a buck on it for themselves personally, and to keep the party in power.
That’s what I read. The dog guy makes the big bucks.
What about his diaper?
Why isn’t the Secret Service laid off?
