Obama: Republicans Using 'Extortion' On Debt Limit Mr Obama attacked the Republicans for "hanging the threats of a shutdown or economic chaos over the heads of the American people" US President Obama has said he is willing to hold budget talks with Republicans, but not until they agree to lift "threats" against the economy.
Mr Obama likened Republicans using a looming debt limit deadline of 17 October for political leverage to political "extortion".
Republican leaders on Tuesday reiterated calls for Mr Obama to open negotiations.
The US government shut down last week when Congress failed to agree a budget.
At the White House, Mr Obama said he had spoken with Mr Boehner earlier and was "happy to talk with him and other Republicans about anything".
But Mr Obama said any negotiations on the ongoing government shutdown or the looming debt limit "shouldn't require hanging the threats of a shutdown or economic chaos over the heads of the American people".

That is not a bad idea.
Will any Republican counter the LIES the ###### in chief keeps repeating blaming Repubs for the economic slowdown and the drop in bond ratings? If they are allowed to keep repeating the lie without challenge it becomes the truth in people’s minds.
The ###### in chief also expects people to believe that increasing the DEBT LIMIT doesnt result in MORE DEBT. If the debt isnt increasing WHY do we need to increase the limit?

Do you honestly think any of the GOPe cares? Let’s say Boehner gives in, and Obama gets all he wants. There will be some GOPe members who get primaried. But, government will expand, the statists will be happy, the gravy train will roll until it crashes horribly and we’re all hosed.
If you’re a self serving GOPe type, and don’t care about anything but yourself, there is no downside to that.
We wouldn’t HAVE to raise the debt limit if expenditures were less than revenues....

The Kenyan is getting heat from our creditors abroad. And you can be sure they are telling him in no uncertain terms to fix the mess he’s in or they will dump their Treasuries. So Obama is getting squeezed here at home and also from overseas. I’m starting to enjoy this show.

I hope somebody got some pictures of Piglosi, Crazy Louie Gutierrez and the commie union thugs doing the Mexican Hat Dance with La Raza and the Illegal Aliens on the Washington Mall today while WWII veterans were being turned away and threatened with arrest if they didn’t leave.
Obama uses code words, extortion, hostage..all these are planned so that he can convince the American people that its the GOP’s fault..and of course the reporters with their planned questions were all a part of it..disgusting pieces of filth
It would take a whole lot of pressure off of Republicans and wipeout the Democrats talking points.
Totally misguided, but we should be grateful that Obama is talking as if he were a tough guy. Maybe, by some miracle, he will eventually use the same phrases when talking about the terrorists who want to murder Americans as he does for patriots who want Americans to be free to make our own life decisions. [I know, that could only occur after a TOTUS programming error.]

Obama’s socialist revolution is moving forward quite well, thank you.
GOP will probably suffer a significant financial hit if it caves. Its hard to run a party on no money; its cutting off their lifeblood. They will care about that.
Like many of you, I’ve grown weary of hearing most of the pundits and politicians pussyfooting around this subject. With the exception of Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and a handful of others on the conservative side, none have come right out and said what every THINKING American KNOWS!
The fight over Obamacare is about stopping the unvetted, unqualified, narcissistic megalomaniacal former community organizer and tyrant in the White House from bringing about his “transformation of America”. That phrase was and is code among his dumbed down and/or uninformed supporters for creating a despotic Marxist redistributionist Utopia. That it has failed everywhere it has been attempted and left misery and death in its wake is of no concern to them. The magic Obama can make it finally work.
One element that may puzzle some of you is why more of the wealthy captains of industry and capitalists – who ostensibly have the most to lose – haven’t spoken out in opposition.
Two reasons (there may be more):
1. They believe they will be princes in the new order, their lives of wealth and ease little affected by the distress inflicted on the us down here, the mass of the great unwashed. They really should restudy the histories of those who collaborated with other tyrants who, once in firm control, dispatched those who had the resources and intellect to topple the new “king” once the inclination to do so took hold of them.
2. During the Cold War, the head of Citibank, one Walter Wriston, was asked why his New York based organization continued to provide financing to the tyrants running the Soviet Union and the slave states the USSR dominated. He replied that it made little difference to him what sort of government these nations had and his only concern was “Can they pay their bills?”
The WWII era Norwegians coined a real world name for those folks: Quisling.
Obama’s major malfunction is simple. For the first time in his life, he is facing opposition. He has no frame of reference nor experience to deal with it.
So he lashes out. And flails about.
Like a child.
